Robust Predictive Extended State Observer for a Class of Nonlinear Systems with Time-Varying Input Delay
[EN] This paper deals with asymptotic stabilisation of a class of nonlinear input-delayed systems via dynamic output feedback in the presence of disturbances. The proposed strategy has the structure of an observer-based control law, in which the observer estimates and predicts both the plant state and the external disturbance. A nominal delay value is assumed to be known and stability conditions in terms of linear matrix inequalities are derived for fast-varying delay uncertainties. Asymptotic stability is achieved if the disturbance or the time delay is constant. The controller design problem is also addressed and a numerical example with an unstable system is provided to illustrate the usefulness of the proposed strategy. This work was partially supported by: Ministerio de EconomĂa y Competitividad, Spain (TIN2017-86520-C3-1-R); Universitat PolitĂšcnica de ValĂšncia (FPI-UPV 2014 PhD Grant); and Israel Science Foundation (Grant No. 1128/14).Sanz Diaz, R.; GarcĂa Gil, PJ.; Fridman, E.; Albertos PĂ©rez, P. The problem addressed is that of designing a full-order observer that guarantees the exponential stability of the error dynamic system. An effective algebraic matrix equation approach is developed to solve this problem. In particular, both the observer analysis and design problems are investigated. By using the singular value decomposition technique and the generalized inverse theory, sufficient conditions for a neutral-type delay system to be exponentially stable are first established. Then, an explicit expression of the desired observers is derived in terms of some free parameters. Furthermore, an illustrative example is used to demonstrate the validity of the proposed design procedur
Reduction-Based Robustness Analysis of Linear Predictor Feedback for Distributed Input Delays
Lyapunov-Krasovskii approach is applied to parameter- and delay-robustness
analysis of the feedback suggested by Manitius and Olbrot for a linear
time-invariant system with distributed input delay. A functional is designed
based on Artstein's system reduction technique. It depends on the norms of the
reduction-transformed plant state and original actuator state. The functional
is used to prove that the feedback is stabilizing when there is a slight
mismatch in the system matrices and delay values between the plant and

Space Shuttle flying qualities and flight control system assessment study, phase 2
A program of flying qualities experiments as part of the Orbiter Experiments Program (OEX) is defined. Phase 1, published as CR-170391, reviewed flying qualities criteria and shuttle data. The review of applicable experimental and shuttle data to further define the OEX plan is continued. An unconventional feature of this approach is the use of pilot strategy model identification to relate flight and simulator results. Instrumentation, software, and data analysis techniques for pilot model measurements are examined. The relationship between shuttle characteristics and superaugmented aircraft is established. STS flights 1 through 4 are reviewed from the point of view of flying qualities. A preliminary plan for a coordinated program of inflight and simulator research is presented
A turn-key Concept for active cancellation of Global Positioning System L3 Signal
We present a concept, developed at the National Astronomy and Ionosphere
Center (NAIC) at Arecibo, Puerto Rico, for active suppression of Global
Positioning System (GPS) signals in the 305 m dish radio receiver path prior to
backend processing. The subsystem does not require an auxiliary antenna and is
intended for easy integration with radio telescope systems with a goal of being
a turnkey addition to virtually any facility. Working with actual sampled
signal data, we have focused on the detection and cancellation of the GPS L3
signal at 1381.05 MHz which, during periodic test modes and particularly during
system-wide tests, interfere with observations of objects in a range of
redshifts that includes the Coma supercluster, for example. This signal can
dynamically change modulation modes and our scheme is capable of detecting
these changes and applying cancellation or sending a blanking signal, as
appropriate. The subsystem can also be adapted to GPS L1 (1575.42 MHz), L2C
(1227.6 MHz), and others. A follow-up is underway to develop a prototype to
deploy and evaluate at NAIC.Comment: Presented at the RFI mitigation workshop, 29-31 March 2010,
