The paper summarizes success stories of Finnish and Russian research organizations that joined forces towards development of leading-edge ICT competences and their use in multidisciplinary applications. The partner organizations from both countries have developed close collaboration framework, which enabled them to implement three crossborder cooperation projects co-funded by the Karelia ENPI CBC Programme. The paper describes this framework as a complex combination of various activities, including educational events, practical R&D, as well as infrastructure development and dissemination activities. Following the development of regional cooperation ecosystem and enhancement of ICT competences (KA179 project), rest of the activities were focused on practical and multidisciplinary applications. In these projects, novel approaches and latest information and Internet technologies were used to increase regional tourism attractiveness (KA322 project) and to improve quality of life for people with disabilities by addressing issues related to social exclusion, accessibility and mobility (KA432 project). The aim of the paper is to share practical experiences, gained during implementation of these cross-border cooperation projects, and to present developed ICT applications in a multidisciplinary context

Internet of things for the hotel industry: a review

The Internet of Things (IoT) represents an opportunity for the hotel in-dustry to increase customer satisfaction while simultaneously reducing operational costs. This paper analyses the existing knowledge on this subject, through a re-view of the relevant publications indexed by Scopus and/or ISI Web of Science, concluding that, despite the existence of many relevant patents, registered in the past few years, the published research is very limited on this topic. The restriction to publication prior to the conclusion of the patent registration process may be a justification for this fact, and, if so, the near future will bring many novelties that will help the development of the hotel industry. It is also possible to conclude from this work that the potential of IoT is not yet well explored in the hotel indus-Try, once authors frequently theorize on the use of IoT for applications that could easily be of interest for the hotel industry, but fail to identify that opportunity as a major market.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

An important task of the modern society is to provide people with disabilities with all rights, and in particular, the rights to free movement. The article presents the implementation of the project "Social Navigator" aimed at creating an information infrastructure to support people with disabilities when traveling through the city. The project implements technologies that extend the capabilities of modern software tools for building routes. Ways to organize and use data on road obstacles and availability of social significance objects are considered. Particular attention is paid to assessing the complexity of obstacles, depending on the availability of the route based on the types of users' capabilities limitations and the impact of obstacles. The project implemented the task of constructing a route taking into account road type and obstacles, as well as the adaptation of the information about standard map services to be used for the construction of pedestrian routes for people with disabilities. The software infrastructure includes services for the collection and expert evaluation of obstacles, mapping service for generating a road graph, a service for collecting data on the availability of social objects, an application that allows building routes and navigating using a mobile device. For the end users, the web and mobile versions of the implemented services are available. The proposed infrastructure improves the quality of life of people with disabilities by organizing their personal mobility, simplifying access to social services and services, and fully engaging in the local community life.

5G is a revolutionary development in network technologies which is gradually becoming very common among people contributing significantly in different fields such as education, industry, agriculture, health, tourism and military. Currently, 5G is an outbreak change as opposed to the traditional service of the Internet since it offers better quality, ultra-fast connection, low-cost, reduced latency, energy saving, which makes its great impact even greater in people’s life. The present study examines various factors that have a significant impact on the Use of 5G in the Gulf area. The study extended the TAM (Technology Acceptance Model) to include factors such as Perceived Enjoyment, Perceived Resources and Perceived Skills Readiness. The present research has adopted a hybrid model that incorporates TAM determinants with other external factors which have a direct relation with 5G as internet service. Previous studies have focused on the importance of 5G in different environments and countries. However, this study focuses on the newly spread Use of 5G in the gulf area by adopting a hybrid conceptual model. The findings suggest that 5G may help in promoting the usage of internet service more effectively with its low-cost, faster data transfer and better quality. Moreover, the findings indicate a positive effect of the gender as a mediator between the variables: Perceived Skills Readiness, Perceived Ease of use, and Perceived Resources
