    UNDERSTANDING MOTIVATORS AND CHALLENGES IN ACCESSIBILITY DEVELOPMENT

    We analyzed secondary data from nine studies including a total of 1962 respondents on what motivates web practitioners such as user experience developers, web designers, and web masters’ intention to promote accessibility, and what challenges they encounter during accessibility development. In this ex-ploratory study, we adopt the viewpoint of motivation and challenges and aim to study them from in-trinsic and extrinsic viewpoints. We then interpreted intrinsic and extrinsic motivators and intrinsic and extrinsic challenges that should be addressed in the management of accessibility work so that the main accessibility milestones become implemented in the design of information technology artifacts. We re-trieved recommendations for top management and superiors to gain and support practitioners’ motiva-tion and to address challenges in accessibility development to avoid ethical conflict in accessibility development. These findings strengthen an understanding of possible ethical conflicts in accessibility development and help to act responsibly in the accessibility development of information systems

    Explaining Accessibility: Possible Variables in Users’ Abilities, Tasks, and Contexts in IT Artefact Use

    The interconnection between the two information technology (IT) artefact qualities, accessibility and usability, is challenging to define. Efforts to design and develop accessible IT artefacts should encompass the broadest range of user abilities in identified tasks and contexts. We lack sufficient research on information systems and human-computer interactions that presents a comprehensive model to explain what variables these key components of accessibility contain and how they interconnect. To address this gap in the literature, I draw on theories beyond human-computer interactions, tasks, and contexts to posit the influence of human abilities on IT use by referring to the International Classification of Functioning, Disability, and Health (ICF) framework that the World Health Organization developed. In this paper, I theoretically describe accessibility, its components, and their relationships in the IT use context based on which I present an accessibility model. Furthermore, I argue that accessibility is a moderating variable between system features and usability. Therefore, accessibility is a major determinant of user acceptance

    Digital Accessibility and Disability Accommodations in Online Dispute Resolution: ODR for Everyone

    Court systems are exploring and beginning to adopt online dispute resolution (ODR) systems, and it is critical that they make digital accessibility a priority. Even though we need to pay close attention to ODR developments in court systems, we cannot overlook the fact that there are ODR providers in the private sector whose systems also must be accessible for persons with disabilities. Plaintiffs filed more ADA Title III website accessibility lawsuits in federal court for the first six months of 2018 than in all of 2017. There were at least 1053 such lawsuits in the first six months of 2018, compared to 814 in all of 2017. As websites have become more sophisticated, access to them has worsened. This article will revisit the question of what digital accessibility standards are legally required. Although the threat of legal liability for failing to satisfy well-respected privately promulgated standards is still real, making a website digitally accessible will make it easier for everyone to use and may attract new users. Websites, mobile applications, software platforms, and other technologies will be accessible when developed and designed to internationally recognized accessibility standards. A host of best practices related to business processes and training are available to ensure accessibility for ODR systems. This Article offers ODR system designers, practicing neutrals such as mediators and arbitrators, information technology professionals, private and public decisionmakers, and policymakers essential information and tools to build and maintain systems that work for everyone. It is extremely important that the ODR community focus on digital accessibility at this moment, because ODR systems are not only being implemented in the United States; they are being adopted around the world

    Factors Affecting the Accessibility of IT Artifacts : A Systematic Review

    Accessibility awareness and development have improved in the past two decades, but many users still encounter accessibility barriers when using information technology (IT) artifacts (e.g., user interfaces and websites). Current research in information systems and human-computer interaction disciplines explores methods, techniques, and factors affecting the accessibility of IT artifacts for a particular population and provides solutions to address these barriers. However, design realized in one solution should be used to provide accessibility to the widest range of users, which requires an integration of solutions. To identify the factors that cause accessibility barriers and the solutions for users with different needs, a systematic literature review was conducted. This paper contributes to the existing body of knowledge by revealing (1) management- and development-level factors, and (2) user perspective factors affecting accessibility that address different accessibility barriers to different groups of population (based on the International Classification of Functioning by the World Health Organization). Based on these findings, we synthesize and illustrate the factors and solutions that need to be addressed when creating an accessible IT artifact.© 2022 by the Association for Information Systems.     Availability and Accessibility of Geographic Information Systems in Nigerian Federal Universities of Technology Libraries

    This study was carried out to investigate the Availability and Accessibility of Geographic Information Systems in Nigerian Federal Universities of Technology Libraries. Three research questions were formulated. Survey research design was used for this study. The overall total number of 1422 respondent including students, faculty staff (GIS users) and librarians were drawn as population and as sample size of the study, from Federal University of Technology, Akure, Minna, Owerri and Abubakar Tafawa Belewa University, Bauchi. Two set of questionnaire were used to collect data for this study one for the GIS users and another for the Librarians. The data collected were presented and analyzed using frequency distribution table and percentages. The study found among others that there are computer hardware units for GIS operation, though some peripherals like plotters, scanner were less available among the selected Nigeria FUTs, ArcView was the type of GIS software that were available for GIS operations. This study concluded that GIS services will be better utilized if they are brought into the library which is the information hub of the university. Lastly, it was recommended that the university library should collaborate with organizations that deal with spatial information or GIS related departments in the university to facilitate GIS services integration into the array of library services

Cloud ERP an effective solution of a number of problems, come across by customary ERP in terms of cost, accessibility and reliability. Cloud ERP is cost effectual in term of hardware and software. The aim of this research was to persuade that merging of cloud with ERP is an appropriate alternative to customary ERP for local and heavy data storage accessibility and impact of cloud adoption in SMEs and technology, organization, environment factors that affect the adoption and transformation on cloud a survey base investigation in applying on these factors.
