As supply chains evolve beyond the confines of individual organizations, collaboration has become the Holy Grail in supply chain technology. It plays a key role in achieving flexibility and responsiveness. Information sharing between partners is a key determinant of collaboration. This paper investigates information sharing in four different supply chains—3PL, VMI, CPFR, and supply networks—and compares their information sharing structures, shared data objects, and information flow models. The results show how the various parameters of an information flow model constrain the level of collaboration. Further, the modeling exercise provides insights on how to configure a collaborative supply chain by leveraging information sharing

This research sought to identify key elements of the Air Force supply chain as it relates to industry, determine how techniques of information-sharing and collaboration are used to make Air Force Supply Chain decisions, and examine how the resulting impacts on operational readiness may be measured. A multiple case study research design was used to investigate the application of information-sharing and collaboration in two distinct Air Force supply chains. Cross-case comparative analysis of the supply chains supporting the PTO shafts on the F-15 engine and the T-38 engine evaluated each supply chain\u27s characteristics and levels of information-sharing and collaboration. The research highlighted one example of proactive sharing of information and collaborative decision-making to avoid supply chain inefficiencies, and one example of using information-sharing to recover from a decision made without using a collaborative approach. Specifically, the research identified that proactive sharing of information and collaborative decision-making for the T-38 avoided supply chain failures, while the F-15 supply chain was reactive, failing to collaborate or share information, resulting in a failure of the supply chain and an increase in the MICAP rate. The F-15 community used information-sharing to recover from this failure. The culmination of this effort provided insight into the interactions and complexities of the Air Force supply chain and highlighted a need for a more thorough evaluation of the impact of supply chain relationships, information-sharing, and collaborative decision-making on operational readiness

Collaboration among consumer good’s manufacturer and retailers is vital in order to elevate their performance. Such mutual cooperation’s, focusing beyond day to day business and transforming from a contract-based relationship to a value-based relationship is well received in the industries. Further coupling of information sharing with the collaboration is valued as an effective forward step. The advent of technologies naturally supports information sharing across the supply chain. Satisfying consumers demand is the main goal of any supply chain, so studying supply chain behaviour with demand as a shared information, makes it more beneficial. This thesis analyses demand information sharing in a two-stage supply chain. Three different collaboration scenarios (None, Partial and Full) are simulated using Discrete Event Simulation and their impact on supply chain costs analyzed. Arena software is used to simulate the inventory control scenarios. The test simulation results show that the total system costs decrease with the increase in the level of information sharing. There is 7% cost improvement when the information is partially shared and 43% improvement when the information is fully shared in comparison with the no information sharing scenario. The proposed work can assist decision makers in design and planning of information sharing scenarios between various supply chain partners to gain competitive advantage

An agent-based dynamic information network for supply chain management

One of the main research issues in supply chain management is to improve the global efficiency of supply chains. However, the improvement efforts often fail because supply chains are complex, are subject to frequent changes, and collaboration and information sharing in the supply chains are often infeasible. This paper presents a practical collaboration framework for supply chain management wherein multi-agent systems form dynamic information networks and coordinate their production and order planning according to synchronized estimation of market demands. In the framework, agents employ an iterative relaxation contract net protocol to find the most desirable suppliers by using data envelopment analysis. Furthermore, the chain of buyers and suppliers, from the end markets to raw material suppliers, form dynamic information networks for synchronized planning. This paper presents an agent-based dynamic information network for supply chain management and discusses the associated pros and cons

The Covid-19 pandemic has resulted in a slowdown in the global economy, and the Indonesian economy has also been affected. The implementation of industry 4.0 is considered the right strategy to revitalize the manufacturing sector. This study aims to determine and understand the effect of information technology implementation on supply chain performance through information sharing and supply chain collaboration. This study uses a quantitative approach to measure an independent variable effect on mediation and dependent variables to test the predetermined hypotheses. The data was collected using a nonprobability sampling technique with a purposive sampling method through a questionnaire instrument with the total number of respondents of 70 manufacturers in Surabaya. Then, the data were analyzed using Partial Least Square software and Structural Equation Modeling based on components or variants. The results indicate that the relationship between supply chain collaboration and information sharing creates competitive advantages. Consequently, the existence of precise, accurate, and qualified information can facilitate joint decision-making. Furthermore, the increasing adoption of supply chain collaboration with information technology can improve company performance. In conclusion, a manufacturing company can maintain its supply chain performance during the Covid-19 pandemic by implementing information technology, information sharing and collaboration with partners in a supply chain. This study provides insight and guidance for managers on ways to improve supply chain performance. This study can also contribute to current research in supply chain management theor

Supply chain management SCM is the integration and management of supply chain organizations and activities through collaboration, effective business processes and high levels of information sharing. The supply chain concept has become a concern due to global competition and increasing customer demand for value. Thus, the information must be available in real time across the supply chain and this can not be achieved without an integrated software system for supply chain management. Supply chain members have to collaborate, sharing information for improving customers satisfaction. Web technologies enable enterprises to become more effective, to trade with suppliers and customers over the Internet in real time. For this, businesses have to integrate their information systems and applications with those of their suppliers and customers. First, companies have to redesign their supply chain to create an integrated value system and afterwards, companies can develop business to business applications across supply chain structure for the optimization of the supply chain . The implementation of the supply chain information systems in companies facilitates an increase in their competitiveness and their profits.supply chain management, logistics, information system, Web technology, e-commerce, collaboration, information visibility
