Extracting consumers needs for new products a web mining approach
Here we introduce a web mining approach for automatically identifying new product ideas extracted from web logs. A web log - also known as blog - is a web site that provides commentary, news, and further information on a subject written by individual persons. We can find a large amount of web logs for nearly each topic where consumers present their needs for new products. These new product ideas probably are valuable for producers as well as for researchers and developers. This is because they can lead to a new product development process. Finding these new product ideas is a well-known task in marketing. Therefore, with this automatic approach we support marketing activities by extracting new and useful product ideas from textual information in internet logs. This approach is implemented by a web-based application named Product Idea Web Log Miner where users from the marketing department provide descriptions of existing products. As a result, new product ideas are extracted from the web logs and presented to the users
An Advanced Conceptual Diagnostic Healthcare Framework for Diabetes and Cardiovascular Disorders
The data mining along with emerging computing techniques have astonishingly
influenced the healthcare industry. Researchers have used different Data Mining
and Internet of Things (IoT) for enrooting a programmed solution for diabetes
and heart patients. However, still, more advanced and united solution is needed
that can offer a therapeutic opinion to individual diabetic and cardio
patients. Therefore, here, a smart data mining and IoT (SMDIoT) based advanced
healthcare system for proficient diabetes and cardiovascular diseases have been
proposed. The hybridization of data mining and IoT with other emerging
computing techniques is supposed to give an effective and economical solution
to diabetes and cardio patients. SMDIoT hybridized the ideas of data mining,
Internet of Things, chatbots, contextual entity search (CES), bio-sensors,
semantic analysis and granular computing (GC). The bio-sensors of the proposed
system assist in getting the current and precise status of the concerned
patients so that in case of an emergency, the needful medical assistance can be
provided. The novelty lies in the hybrid framework and the adequate support of
chatbots, granular computing, context entity search and semantic analysis. The
practical implementation of this system is very challenging and costly.
However, it appears to be more operative and economical solution for diabetes
and cardio patients.Comment: 11 PAGE
Modeling of Packet Streaming Services in Information Communication Networks
Application of the term video streaming in contemporary usage denotes compression techniques and
data buffering, which can transmit video in real time over the network. There is currently a rapid growth
and development of technologies using wireless broadband technology as a transport, which is a seri-
ous alternative to cellular communication systems. Adverse effect of the aggressive environment used
in wireless networks transmission results in data packets undergoing serious distortions and often get-
ting lost in transit. All existing research in this area investigate the known types of errors separately. At
present there are no standard approaches to determining the effect of errors on transmission quality of
services. Besides, the spate in popularity of multimedia applications has led to the need for optimization
of bandwidth allocation and usage in telecommunication networks. Modern telecommunication networks
should by their definition be able to maintain the quality of different applications with different Quality
of Service (QoS) levels. QoS requirements are generally dependent on the parameters of network and
application layers of the OSI model. At the application layer QoS depends on factors such as resolution,
bit rate, frame rate, video type, audio codecs, and so on. At the network layer, distortions (such as delay,
jitter, packet loss, etc.) are introduced
Current Challenges and Visions in Music Recommender Systems Research
Music recommender systems (MRS) have experienced a boom in recent years,
thanks to the emergence and success of online streaming services, which
nowadays make available almost all music in the world at the user's fingertip.
While today's MRS considerably help users to find interesting music in these
huge catalogs, MRS research is still facing substantial challenges. In
particular when it comes to build, incorporate, and evaluate recommendation
strategies that integrate information beyond simple user--item interactions or
content-based descriptors, but dig deep into the very essence of listener
needs, preferences, and intentions, MRS research becomes a big endeavor and
related publications quite sparse.
The purpose of this trends and survey article is twofold. We first identify
and shed light on what we believe are the most pressing challenges MRS research
is facing, from both academic and industry perspectives. We review the state of
the art towards solving these challenges and discuss its limitations. Second,
we detail possible future directions and visions we contemplate for the further
evolution of the field. The article should therefore serve two purposes: giving
the interested reader an overview of current challenges in MRS research and
providing guidance for young researchers by identifying interesting, yet
under-researched, directions in the field
A collaborative model planning to coordinate mining and smelting furnace
International audienceIn this paper, we are interested in the tactical planning problem of mines and smelting furnace. The problem concerns a set of mines with one smelting furnace. We are faced to a multi-actor’s context for which a global optimization is not possible due to the independence of the services. This problem is solved using a set of local optimization model of mines bloc extraction and a model of smelting furnace. This paper begin with the state of the art related to the principal problems in mining process. It justifies the novelty of our work. Indeed, this paper aims to discuss on the impact of sharing information between downstream processes and upstream processes. Consequently, after the state of the art, the classical planning process using local optimization and the information sharing process are presented. In the following part, profits generated and related to different contexts: value-creation and approach are compared. At the end of the paper, conclusion and future extensions are presented
Explicit diversification of event aspects for temporal summarization
During major events, such as emergencies and disasters, a large volume of information is reported on newswire and social media platforms. Temporal summarization (TS) approaches are used to automatically produce concise overviews of such events by extracting text snippets from related articles over time. Current TS approaches rely on a combination of event relevance and textual novelty for snippet selection. However, for events that span multiple days, textual novelty is often a poor criterion for selecting snippets, since many snippets are textually unique but are semantically redundant or non-informative. In this article, we propose a framework for the diversification of snippets using explicit event aspects, building on recent works in search result diversification. In particular, we first propose two techniques to identify explicit aspects that a user might want to see covered in a summary for different types of event. We then extend a state-of-the-art explicit diversification framework to maximize the coverage of these aspects when selecting summary snippets for unseen events. Through experimentation over the TREC TS 2013, 2014, and 2015 datasets, we show that explicit diversification for temporal summarization significantly outperforms classical novelty-based diversification, as the use of explicit event aspects reduces the amount of redundant and off-topic snippets returned, while also increasing summary timeliness
Novel and Diverse Recommendations by Leveraging Linear Models with User and Item Embeddings
[Abstract] Nowadays, item recommendation is an increasing concern for many companies. Users tend to be more reactive than proactive for solving information needs. Recommendation accuracy became the most studied aspect of the quality of the suggestions. However, novel and diverse suggestions also contribute to user satisfaction. Unfortunately, it is common to harm those two aspects when optimizing recommendation accuracy. In this paper, we present EER, a linear model for the top-N recommendation task, which takes advantage of user and item embeddings for improving novelty and diversity without harming accuracy. This work was supported by project RTI2018-093336-B-C22 (MCIU & ERDF), project GPC ED431B 2019/03 (Xunta de Galicia & ERDF) and accreditation ED431G 2019/01 (Xunta de Galicia & ERDF).
