Super learner implementation in corrosion rate prediction
This thesis proposes a new machine learning model for predicting the corrosion rate of 3C steel in seawater. The corrosion rate of a material depends not just on the nature of the material but also on the material\u27s environmental conditions. The proposed machine learning model comes with a selection framework based on the hyperparameter optimization method and a performance evaluation metric to determine the models that qualify for further implementation in the proposed models’ ensembles architecture. The major aim of the selection framework is to select the least number of models that will fit efficiently (while already hyperparameter-optimized) into the architecture of the proposed model. Subsequently, the proposed predictive model is fitted on some portion of a dataset generated from an experiment on corrosion rate in five different seawater conditions. The remaining portion of this dataset is implemented in estimating the corrosion rate. Furthermore, the performance of the proposed models’ predictions was evaluated using three major performance evaluation metrics. These metrics were also used to evaluate the performance of two hyperparameter-optimized models (Smart Firefly Algorithm and Least Squares Support Vector Regression (SFA-LSSVR) and Support Vector Regression integrating Leave Out One Cross-Validation (SVR-LOOCV)) to facilitate their comparison with the proposed predictive model and its constituent models. The test results show that the proposed model performs slightly below the SFA-LSSVR model and above the SVR-LOOCV model by an RMSE score difference of 0.305 and RMSE score of 0.792. Despite its poor performance against the SFA-LSSVR model, the super learner model outperforms both hyperparameter-optimized models in the utilization of memory and computation time (graphically presented in this thesis)

Simulation as a method for asymptotic system behavior identification (e.g. water frog hemiclonal population systems)
Studying any system requires development of ways to describe the variety of its conditions. Such development includes three steps. The first one is to identify groups of similar systems (associative typology). The second one is to identify groups of objects which are similar in characteristics important for
their description (analytic typology). The third one is to arrange systems into groups based on their predicted common future (dynamic typology).
We propose a method to build such a dynamic topology for a system. The first step is to build a simulation model of studied systems. The model must be undetermined and simulate stochastic processes. The model generates distribution of the studied systems output parameters with the same initial parameters.
We prove the correctness of the model by aligning the parameters sets generated by the model with the set of the original systems conditions evaluated empirically. In case of a close match between the two, we can presume that the model
is adequately describing the dynamics of the studied systems. On the next stage, we should determine the probability distribution of the systems transformation outcome. Such outcomes should be defined based on the simulation of the
transformation of the systems during the time sufficient to determine its fate. If the systems demonstrate asymptotic behavior, its phase space can be divided into pools corresponding to its different future state prediction. A dynamic typology is determined by which of these pools each system falls into.
We implemented the pipeline described above to study water frog hemiclonal population systems. Water frogs (Pelophylax esculentus complex) is an animal group displaying interspecific hybridization and non-mendelian inheritance

The frequent financial critical states that occur in our world, during many centuries have attracted scientists from different areas. The impact of similar fluctuations continues to have a huge impact on the world economy, causing instability in it concerning normal and natural disturbances [1]. The anticipation, prediction, and identification of such phenomena remain a huge challenge. To be able to prevent such critical events, we focus our research on the chaotic properties of the stock market indices. During the discussion of the recent papers that have been devoted to the chaotic behavior and complexity in the financial system, we find that the Largest Lyapunov exponent and the spectrum of Lyapunov exponents can be evaluated to determine whether the system is completely deterministic, or chaotic. Accordingly, we give a theoretical background on the method for Lyapunov exponents estimation, specifically, we followed the methods proposed by J. P. Eckmann and Sano-Sawada to compute the spectrum of Lyapunov exponents. With Rosenstein’s algorithm, we compute only the Largest (Maximal) Lyapunov exponents from an experimental time series, and we consider one of the measures from recurrence quantification analysis that in a similar way as the Largest Lyapunov exponent detects highly non-monotonic behavior. Along with the theoretical material, we present the empirical results which evidence that chaos theory and theory of complexity have a powerful toolkit for construction of indicators-precursors of crisis events in financial markets.
This article demonstrates the comparative possibility of constructing indicators of critical and crash phenomena in the volatile market of cryptocurrency and developed stock market. Then, combining the empirical cross-correlation matrix with the Random Matrix Theory, we mainly examine the statistical properties of cross-correlation coefficients, the evolution of the distribution of eigenvalues and corresponding eigenvectors in both markets using the daily returns of price time series. The result has indicated that the largest eigenvalue reflects a collective effect of the whole market, and is very sensitive to the crash phenomena. It has been shown that introduced the largest eigenvalue of the matrix of correlations can act like indicators-predictors of falls in both markets.
