Packing Plane Perfect Matchings into a Point Set
Given a set of points in the plane, where is even, we consider
the following question: How many plane perfect matchings can be packed into
? We prove that at least plane perfect matchings
can be packed into any point set . For some special configurations of point
sets, we give the exact answer. We also consider some extensions of this
problem
HipergrĂĄfok = Hypergraphs
A projekt cĂ©lkitƱzĂ©seit sikerĂŒlt megvalĂłsĂtani. A nĂ©gy Ă©v sorĂĄn több mint szĂĄz kivĂĄlĂł eredmĂ©ny szĂŒletett, amibĆl eddig 84 dolgozat jelent meg a tĂ©ma legkivĂĄlĂłbb folyĂłirataiban, mint Combinatorica, Journal of Combinatorial Theory, Journal of Graph Theory, Random Graphs and Structures, stb. SzĂĄmos rĂ©gĂłta fennĂĄllĂł sejtĂ©st bebizonyĂtottunk, egĂ©sz rĂ©gi nyitott problĂ©mĂĄt megoldottunk hipergrĂĄfokkal kapcsolatban illetve kapcsolĂłdĂł terĂŒleteken. A problĂ©mĂĄk nĂ©melyike sok Ă©ve, olykor több Ă©vtizede nyitott volt. Nem egy közvetlen kutatĂĄsi eredmĂ©ny, de szintĂ©n bizonyos Ă©rtĂ©kmĂ©rĆ, hogy a rĂ©sztvevĆk egyike a NorvĂ©g KirĂĄlyi AkadĂ©mia tagja lett Ă©s elnyerte a Steele dĂjat. | We managed to reach the goals of the project. We achieved more than one hundred excellent results, 84 of them appeared already in the most prestigious journals of the subject, like Combinatorica, Journal of Combinatorial Theory, Journal of Graph Theory, Random Graphs and Structures, etc. We proved several long standing conjectures, solved quite old open problems in the area of hypergraphs and related subjects. Some of the problems were open for many years, sometimes for decades. It is not a direct research result but kind of an evaluation too that a member of the team became a member of the Norvegian Royal Academy and won Steele Prize
Track Layouts of Graphs
A \emph{-track layout} of a graph consists of a (proper) vertex
-colouring of , a total order of each vertex colour class, and a
(non-proper) edge -colouring such that between each pair of colour classes
no two monochromatic edges cross. This structure has recently arisen in the
study of three-dimensional graph drawings. This paper presents the beginnings
of a theory of track layouts. First we determine the maximum number of edges in
a -track layout, and show how to colour the edges given fixed linear
orderings of the vertex colour classes. We then describe methods for the
manipulation of track layouts. For example, we show how to decrease the number
of edge colours in a track layout at the expense of increasing the number of
tracks, and vice versa. We then study the relationship between track layouts
and other models of graph layout, namely stack and queue layouts, and geometric
thickness. One of our principle results is that the queue-number and
track-number of a graph are tied, in the sense that one is bounded by a
function of the other. As corollaries we prove that acyclic chromatic number is
bounded by both queue-number and stack-number. Finally we consider track
layouts of planar graphs. While it is an open problem whether planar graphs
have bounded track-number, we prove bounds on the track-number of outerplanar
graphs, and give the best known lower bound on the track-number of planar
graphs.Comment: The paper is submitted for publication. Preliminary draft appeared as

Experimental Evaluation of Book Drawing Algorithms
A -page book drawing of a graph consists of a linear ordering of
its vertices along a spine and an assignment of each edge to one of the
pages, which are half-planes bounded by the spine. In a book drawing, two edges
cross if and only if they are assigned to the same page and their vertices
alternate along the spine. Crossing minimization in a -page book drawing is
NP-hard, yet book drawings have multiple applications in visualization and
beyond. Therefore several heuristic book drawing algorithms exist, but there is
no broader comparative study on their relative performance. In this paper, we
propose a comprehensive benchmark set of challenging graph classes for book
drawing algorithms and provide an extensive experimental study of the
performance of existing book drawing algorithms.Comment: Appears in the Proceedings of the 25th International Symposium on
