Concepts and evolution of research in the field of wireless sensor networks
The field of Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) is experiencing a resurgence of
interest and a continuous evolution in the scientific and industrial community.
The use of this particular type of ad hoc network is becoming increasingly
important in many contexts, regardless of geographical position and so,
according to a set of possible application. WSNs offer interesting low cost and
easily deployable solutions to perform a remote real time monitoring, target
tracking and recognition of physical phenomenon. The uses of these sensors
organized into a network continue to reveal a set of research questions
according to particularities target applications. Despite difficulties
introduced by sensor resources constraints, research contributions in this
field are growing day by day. In this paper, we present a comprehensive review
of most recent literature of WSNs and outline open research issues in this
field
Laplacian Scores-Based Feature Reduction in IoT Systems for Agricultural Monitoring and Decision-Making Support
Internet of things (IoT) systems generate a large volume of data all the time. How to choose and transfer which data are essential for decision-making is a challenge. This is especially important for low-cost and low-power designs, for example Long-Range Wide-Area Network (LoRaWan)-based IoT systems, where data volume and frequency are constrained by the protocols. This paper presents an unsupervised learning approach using Laplacian scores to discover which types of sensors can be reduced, without compromising the decision-making. Here, a type of sensor is a feature. An IoT system is designed and implemented for a plant-monitoring scenario. We have collected data and carried out the Laplacian scores. The analytical results help choose the most important feature. A comparative study has shown that using fewer types of sensors, the accuracy of decision-making remains at a satisfactory level
Low-Power Pıc-Based Sensor Node Devıce Desıgn And Theoretıcal Analysıs Of Energy Consumptıon In Wıreless Sensor Networks

SAgric-IoT: an IoT-based platform and deep learning for greenhouse monitoring
The Internet of Things (IoT) and convolutional neural networks (CNN) integration is a growing topic of interest for researchers as a technology that will contribute to transforming agriculture. IoT will enable farmers to decide and act based on data collected from sensor nodes regarding field conditions and not purely based on experience, thus minimizing the wastage of supplies (seeds, water, pesticide, and fumigants). On the other hand, CNN complements monitoring systems with tasks such as the early detection of crop diseases or predicting the number of consumable resources and supplies (water, fertilizers) needed to increase productivity. This paper proposes SAgric-IoT, a technology platform based on IoT and CNN for precision agriculture, to monitor environmental and physical variables and provide early disease detection while automatically controlling the irrigation and fertilization in greenhouses. The results show SAgric-IoT is a reliable IoT platform with a low packet loss level that considerably reduces energy consumption and has a disease identification detection accuracy and classification process of over 90%
A Comparative Study of Wireless Sensor Networks and Their Routing Protocols
Recent developments in the area of micro-sensor devices have accelerated advances in the sensor networks field leading to many new protocols specifically designed for wireless sensor networks (WSNs). Wireless sensor networks with hundreds to thousands of sensor nodes can gather information from an unattended location and transmit the gathered data to a particular user, depending on the application. These sensor nodes have some constraints due to their limited energy, storage capacity and computing power. Data are routed from one node to other using different routing protocols. There are a number of routing protocols for wireless sensor networks. In this review article, we discuss the architecture of wireless sensor networks. Further, we categorize the routing protocols according to some key factors and summarize their mode of operation. Finally, we provide a comparative study on these various protocols
