    Autonomous pointing control of a large satellite antenna subject to parametric uncertainty

    With the development of satellite mobile communications, large antennas are now widely used. The precise pointing of the antenna’s optical axis is essential for many space missions. This paper addresses the challenging problem of high-precision autonomous pointing control of a large satellite antenna. The pointing dynamics are firstly proposed. The proportional–derivative feedback and structural filter to perform pointing maneuvers and suppress antenna vibrations are then presented. An adaptive controller to estimate actual system frequencies in the presence of modal parameters uncertainty is proposed. In order to reduce periodic errors, the modified controllers, which include the proposed adaptive controller and an active disturbance rejection filter, are then developed. The system stability and robustness are analyzed and discussed in the frequency domain. Numerical results are finally provided, and the results have demonstrated that the proposed controllers have good autonomy and robustness

    Frequency-Domain Analysis of Linear Time-Periodic Systems

    In this paper, we study convergence of truncated representations of the frequency-response operator of a linear time-periodic system. The frequency-response operator is frequently called the harmonic transfer function. We introduce the concepts of input, output, and skew roll-off. These concepts are related to the decay rates of elements in the harmonic transfer function. A system with high input and output roll-off may be well approximated by a low-dimensional matrix function. A system with high skew roll-off may be represented by an operator with only few diagonals. Furthermore, the roll-off rates are shown to be determined by certain properties of Taylor and Fourier expansions of the periodic systems. Finally, we clarify the connections between the different methods for computing the harmonic transfer function that are suggested in the literature

    RealTime Implementation Of An Internal-Model-Principle Signal Identifier

    This thesis presents a new means approach of tuning an adaptive internal model principle based signal identification algorithm whose computational costs are low enough to allow a realtime implementation. The algorithm allows an instantaneous Fourier decomposition of nonstationary signals that have a strongly predictable component. The algorithm is implemented as a feedback loop resulting in a closed loop system with a frequency response of a bandpass filter with notches at the frequencies of the Fourier decomposition. This is achieved through real time selection of the coefficients of the transfer functions in the feedback loop. Previous work showed how the dynamics of the algorithm could be chosen to be represented by a bandpass filter with notches. However this involved solving a large set of coupled linear equations. This thesis shows how the equations can be decoupled into pairs of linear equations which have explicit solutions. In other word, rules for explicitly solving for these parameters are given that only involve evaluating frequency responses at the frequencies of the instantaneous Fourier decomposition. Last but not the least, alternative approach for choosing suitable coefficients to eliminate the DC component of the signal under consideration has been proposed as well by replacing a frequency response of a bandpass filter with lowpass filter and adding a model of the constant signal to the feedback loop
