The current condition of the rice milling business is getting tougher. Price competition between rice milling companies and local rice price competition with imported rice makes companies need to improve efficiency to survive in business competition. Various ways are done to increase efficiency, including utilizing conceptual resources (information) to manage the company's physical resources. This research designs a financial bookkeeping information system which is the initial stage of the development stage of an integrated information system at UD. Dewi Sri. The first step is to search and collect company profile data for company workflows. After the objects are identified and the relationship between the objects is known, the next step is to make a data flow diagram for each process. The diagram is used to create entity relationship diagrams (Entity Relationship Diagrams) and programming flows. After writing the programming language, initial testing is carried out by entering sample data. The result of this research is a computer-based financial bookkeeping information system application design that is expected to be able to be applied in companies and can be developed toward an integrated information system

Android Application of English Learning as Learning Media for Junior High School Students

One form of technological advances in computers is a mobile device. At this time English is a very important requirement in all fields of education and work even in daily life, because English itself has become an international language where most countries use this language. However, most junior high school students often have difficulty in learning English. This research aims to create an English learning application based on the existing curriculum using Adobe Animate CC 2017 which is offline. The stages used to make the application in this study are problem analysis, problem, problem solving strategies and system design. The global system design uses UML modeling which consists of Use case Diagrams, Story Boards, Activity Diagrams, Sequence Diagrams and Flow Charts. This application makes it easier for junior high school students to learn English so that it helps make it easier for teachers to convey material and also this application considers all aspects of development, is meaningful, interesting, and functional. features after testing on several smartphone devices

Abstract—The current media communication technology is growing into an inevitability. This medium can make a world as big as an egg, and it can similarly build a harmony based on its will. The study revealed how communication media technologies are able to build a reality of harmony in society. The study employed a qualitative approach with a post-positivistic paradigm. The research took 5 informants and interviewed them. The results of the study, (1) communication media technology became the main key formed society 5.0. (2) The development of social media in various platforms and with all its advantages caused the mass media mind stream fall one by one. (3) Communication media technology into a medium can bring the far and away close, or in other words create harmony that is switched. (4) Communication media technology has an impact on the occurrence of hoaxes that are actually enemies of the state

Motivational Social Visualizations for Personalized E-Learning

A large number of educational resources is now available on the Web to support both regular classroom learning and online learning. However, the abundance of available content produces at least two problems: how to help students find the most appropriate resources, and how to engage them into using these resources and benefiting from them. Personalized and social learning have been suggested as potential methods for addressing these problems. Our work presented in this paper attempts to combine the ideas of personalized and social learning. We introduce Progressor + , an innovative Web-based interface that helps students find the most relevant resources in a large collection of self-assessment questions and programming examples. We also present the results of a classroom study of the Progressor +  in an undergraduate class. The data revealed the motivational impact of the personalized social guidance provided by the system in the target context. The interface encouraged students to explore more educational resources and motivated them to do some work ahead of the course schedule. The increase in diversity of explored content resulted in improving students’ problem solving success. A deeper analysis of the social guidance mechanism revealed that it is based on the leading behavior of the strong students, who discovered the most relevant resources and created trails for weaker students to follow. The study results also demonstrate that students were more engaged with the system: they spent more time in working with self-assessment questions and annotated examples, attempted more questions, and achieved higher success rates in answering them

Immune network algorithm in monthly streamflow prediction at Johor river

This study proposes an alternative method in generating future stream flow data with single-point river stage. Prediction of stream flow data is important in water resources engineering for planning and design purposes in order to estimate long term forecasting. This paper utilizes Artificial Immune System (AIS) in modelling the stream flow of one stations of Johor River. AIS has the abilities of self-organizing, memory, recognition, adaptive and ability of learning inspired from the immune system. Immune Network Algorithm is part of the three main algorithm in AIS. The model of Immune Network Algorithm used in this study is aiNet. The training process in aiNet is partly inspired by clonal selection principle and the other part uses antibody interactions for removing redundancy and finding data patterns. Like any other traditional statistical and stochastic techniques, results from this study, exhibit that, Immune Network Algorithm is capable of producing future stream flow data at monthly duration with various advantages

Thirty years of the international journal of intelligent systems: a bibliometric review

    Get PDF
The International Journal of Intelligent Systems was created in 1986. Today, the journal is 30 years old. To celebrate this anniversary, this study develops a bibliometric review of all of the papers published in the journal between 1986 and 2015. The results are largely based on the Web of Science Core Collection, which classifies leading bibliographic material by using several indicators including total number of publications and citations, the h-index, cites per paper, and citing articles. Thework also uses theVOS viewer software for visualizing the main results through bibliographic coupling and co-citation. The results show a general overview of leading trends that have influenced the journal in terms of highly cited papers, authors, journals, universities and countries. C 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc

Measuring and improving Agile Processes in a small-size software development company

    Get PDF
Context: Agile software development has become commonplace in software development companies due to the numerous benefits it provides. However, conducting Agile projects is demanding in Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), because projects start and end quickly, but still have to fulfil customers' quality requirements. Objective: This paper aims at reporting a practical experience on the use of metrics related to the software development process as a means supporting SMEs in the development of software following an Agile methodology. Method: We followed Action-Research principles in a Polish small-size software development company. We developed and executed a study protocol suited to the needs of the company, using a pilot case. Results: A catalogue of Agile development process metrics practically validated in the context of a small-size software development company, adopted by the company in their Agile projects. Conclusions: Practitioners may adopt these metrics in their Agile projects, especially if working in an SME, and customise them to their own needs and tools. Academics may use the findings as a baseline for new research work, including new empirical studies. The authors would like to thank all the members of the QRapids H2020 project consortium.Peer ReviewedPostprint (published version
