This paper analyses various bibliometric dimensions of the journal literature such as authors’ productivity, geographical distribution, citation pattern, institution-wise distribution of articles, discipline-wise distributions of articles, productive institutions, Productivity Index (PI), Activity Index (AI), Domestic Collaborative Index (DCI) and International Collaborative Index (ICI) etc. It also explores the applicability of Lotka’s Inverse Square Law and Zipf’s Law to examine the observed rank – frequency pattern of Keywords and Subject Terms of Information Systems (IS) literature. To illustrate these bibliometric indicators pertinent information on the field of Information Systems (IS) collected from EBSCO database for the International Journal of Cooperative Information Systems (IJCIS). Results indicated that a high level of collaboration exists among the authors, USA occupies the dominant position in terms of high productive authors, institutions and tops the list with highest number of domestic collaboration. Authors’ productivity confirms to Lotka’s law and the Frequency distribution of both Subject Terms and Keywords in IJCIS journal literature follow Zipf’s distribution

Abstract—The current media communication technology is growing into an inevitability. This medium can make a world as big as an egg, and it can similarly build a harmony based on its will. The study revealed how communication media technologies are able to build a reality of harmony in society. The study employed a qualitative approach with a post-positivistic paradigm. The research took 5 informants and interviewed them. The results of the study, (1) communication media technology became the main key formed society 5.0. (2) The development of social media in various platforms and with all its advantages caused the mass media mind stream fall one by one. (3) Communication media technology into a medium can bring the far and away close, or in other words create harmony that is switched. (4) Communication media technology has an impact on the occurrence of hoaxes that are actually enemies of the state

The International Journal of Intelligent Systems was created in 1986. Today, the journal is 30 years old. To celebrate this anniversary, this study develops a bibliometric review of all of the papers published in the journal between 1986 and 2015. The results are largely based on the Web of Science Core Collection, which classifies leading bibliographic material by using several indicators including total number of publications and citations, the h-index, cites per paper, and citing articles. Thework also uses theVOS viewer software for visualizing the main results through bibliographic coupling and co-citation. The results show a general overview of leading trends that have influenced the journal in terms of highly cited papers, authors, journals, universities and countries. C 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc

Generalized h-index for Disclosing Latent Facts in Citation Networks

What is the value of a scientist and its impact upon the scientific thinking? How can we measure the prestige of a journal or of a conference? The evaluation of the scientific work of a scientist and the estimation of the quality of a journal or conference has long attracted significant interest, due to the benefits from obtaining an unbiased and fair criterion. Although it appears to be simple, defining a quality metric is not an easy task. To overcome the disadvantages of the present metrics used for ranking scientists and journals, J.E. Hirsch proposed a pioneering metric, the now famous h-index. In this article, we demonstrate several inefficiencies of this index and develop a pair of generalizations and effective variants of it to deal with scientist ranking and with publication forum ranking. The new citation indices are able to disclose trendsetters in scientific research, as well as researchers that constantly shape their field with their influential work, no matter how old they are. We exhibit the effectiveness and the benefits of the new indices to unfold the full potential of the h-index, with extensive experimental results obtained from DBLP, a widely known on-line digital library.Comment: 19 pages, 17 tables, 27 figure
