Watermarking for the Secure Transmission of the Key into an Encrypted Image

    Get PDF
Ensuring the confidentiality of any data exchanged always presents a great concern for all communication instances. Technically, encryption is the ideal solution for this task. However, this process must deal with the progress of the cryptanalysis that aims to disclose the information exchanged. The risk increases due to the need for a dual transmission that includes the encrypted medium and the decryption key. In a context of chaotic encryption of images, we propose to insert the decryption key into the encrypted image using image watermarking. Thus, only the watermarked encrypted image will be transmitted. Upon reception, the recipient extracts the key and decrypts the image. The cryptosystem proposed is based on an encryption using a dynamic Look-Up Table issued from a chaotic generator. The obtained results prove the efficiency of our method to ensure a secure exchange of images and keys

Data security is utmost important for ubiquitous computing of medical/diagnostic data or images. Along with must consider preserving privacy of patients. Recently, deoxyribose nucleic acid (DNA) sequences and chaotic sequence are jointly used for building efficient data masking model. However, the state-of-art model are not robust against noise and cropping attack (CA). Since in existing model most digits of each pixel are not altered. This work present efficient data masking (EDM) method using chaos and DNA based encryption method for securing health care data. For overcoming research challenges effective bit scrambling method is required. Firstly, this work present an efficient bit scrambling using logistic sine map and pseudorandom sequence using chaotic system. Then, DNA substitution is performed among them to resist against differential attack (DA), statistical attack (SA) and CA. Experiment are conducted on standard considering diverse images. The outcome achieved shows proposed model efficient when compared to existing models

Nowadays, information hiding is becoming a helpful technique and fetch more attention due fast growth of using internet, it is applied for sending secret information by using different techniques. Steganography is one of major important technique in information hiding. Steganography is science of concealing the secure information within a carrier object to provide the secure communication though the internet, so that no one can recognize and detect it’s except the sender & receiver. In steganography, many various carrier formats can be used such as an image, video, protocol, audio. The digital image is most popular used as a carrier file due its frequency on internet. There are many techniques variable for image steganography, each has own strong and weak points. In this study, we conducted a review of image steganography in spatial domain to explore the term image steganography by reviewing, collecting, synthesizing and analyze the challenges of different studies which related to this area published from 2014 to 2017. The aims of this review is provides an overview of image steganography and comparison between approved studies are discussed according to the pixel selection, payload capacity and embedding algorithm to open important research issues in the future works and obtain a robust method

A Hybrid Digital Watermarking Approach Using Wavelets and LSB

    Get PDF
The present paper proposed a novel approach called Wavelet based Least Significant Bit Watermarking (WLSBWM) for high authentication, security and copyright protection. Alphabet Pattern (AP) approach is used to generate shuffled image in the first stage and Pell’s Cat Map (PCM) is used for providing more security and strong protection from attacks. PCM applied on each 5×5 sub images. A wavelet concept is used to reduce the dimensionality of the image until it equals to the size of the watermark image. Discrete Cosign Transform is applied in the first stage; later N level Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT) is applied for reducing up to the size of the watermark image. The water mark image is inserted in LHn Sub band of the wavelet image using LSB concept. Simulation results show that the proposed technique produces better PSNR and similarity measure. The experimental results indicate that the present approach is more reliable and secure efficient. The robustness of the proposed scheme is evaluated against various image-processing attacks

Randomness Quality of CI Chaotic Generators: Applications to Internet Security

Due to the rapid development of the Internet in recent years, the need to find new tools to reinforce trust and security through the Internet has became a major concern. The discovery of new pseudo-random number generators with a strong level of security is thus becoming a hot topic, because numerous cryptosystems and data hiding schemes are directly dependent on the quality of these generators. At the conference Internet`09, we have described a generator based on chaotic iterations, which behaves chaotically as defined by Devaney. In this paper, the proposal is to improve the speed and the security of this generator, to make its use more relevant in the Internet security context. To do so, a comparative study between various generators is carried out and statistical results are given. Finally, an application in the information hiding framework is presented, to give an illustrative example of the use of such a generator in the Internet security field.Comment: 6 pages,6 figures, In INTERNET'2010. Cryptography coupled with information hiding has received increased attention in recent years and has become a major research theme because of the importance of protecting encrypted information in any Electronic Data Interchange system in a way that is both discrete and covert. One of the essential limitations in any cryptography system is that the encrypted data provides an indication on its importance which arouses suspicion and makes it vulnerable to attack. Information hiding of Steganography provides a potential solution to this issue by making the data imperceptible, the security of the hidden information being a threat only if its existence is detected through Steganalysis. This paper focuses on a study methods for hiding encrypted information, specifically, methods that encrypt data before embedding in host data where the ‘data’ is in the form of a full colour digital image. Such methods provide a greater level of data security especially when the information is to be submitted over the Internet, for example, since a potential attacker needs to first detect, then extract and then decrypt the embedded data in order to recover the original information. After providing an extensive survey of the current methods available, we present a new method of encrypting and then hiding full colour images in three full colour host images with out loss of fidelity following data extraction and decryption. The application of this technique, which is based on a technique called ‘Stochastic Diffusion’ are wide ranging and include covert image information interchange, digital image authentication, video authentication, copyright protection and digital rights management of image data in general

A single watermark based scheme for both protection and authentication of identities

The security of a watermarking scheme is mainly categorised as either robust or fragile. The former can withstand an authorised alteration/attack, primarily used in copyright protection. The latter follows a zero tolerance towards any modification, used primarily in content authentication processes. The existing literature in the field projects that two separate watermarks are required to make a watermarking scheme robust and fragile, thus making the overall process cumbersome and complex. A novel image watermarking scheme that uses only one watermark while achieving both goals of copyright protection and authentication of identities is presented. An unconventional concept of checkpointing is introduced, which equips the proposed scheme to be either robust or fragile, making it superior in its application versatility. First, watermark embedding within the host/original image is achieved by a combination of transform domain techniques along with a novel median-based embedding block selection procedure. Second, checkpointing is performed in the spatial domain. The watermarked image in the absence of an attack is correlated to the one that is being attacked, using the template energy comparison-based approach. In the case of the robust watermark, such checkpointing can establish whether the carried out attack is authorised or not, determining the successful recovery of the watermark or vice-versa. Moreover, in the case of the fragile watermark, a sole confirmation of the occurrence of an attack is sufficient to make the watermark recovery impossible. Finally, the experimental analysis of the proposed scheme illustrates its excellent performance and superiority over state-of-the-art methods within the field

The digital watermarking technique embeds meaningful information into one or more watermark images hidden in one image, in which it is known as a secret carrier. It is difficult for a hacker to extract or remove any hidden watermark from an image, and especially to crack so called digital watermark. The combination of digital watermarking technique and traditional image encryption technique is able to greatly improve anti-hacking capability, which suggests it is a good method for keeping the integrity of the original image. The research works contained in this thesis include: (1)A literature review the hyperchaotic watermarking technique is relatively more advantageous, and becomes the main subject in this programme. (2)The theoretical foundation of watermarking technologies, including the human visual system (HVS), the colour space transform, discrete wavelet transform (DWT), the main watermark embedding algorithms, and the mainstream methods for improving watermark robustness and for evaluating watermark embedding performance. (3) The devised hyperchaotic scrambling technique it has been applied to colour image watermark that helps to improve the image encryption and anti-cracking capabilities. The experiments in this research prove the robustness and some other advantages of the invented technique. This thesis focuses on combining the chaotic scrambling and wavelet watermark embedding to achieve a hyperchaotic digital watermark to encrypt digital products, with the human visual system (HVS) and other factors taken into account. This research is of significant importance and has industrial application value
