abstract: A lot of research can be seen in the field of social robotics that majorly concentrate on various aspects of social robots including design of mechanical parts and their move- ment, cognitive speech and face recognition capabilities. Several robots have been developed with the intention of being social, like humans, without much emphasis on how human-like they actually look, in terms of expressions and behavior. Fur- thermore, a substantial disparity can be seen in the success of results of any research involving ”humanizing” the robots’ behavior, or making it behave more human-like as opposed to research into biped movement, movement of individual body parts like arms, fingers, eyeballs, or human-like appearance itself. The research in this paper in- volves understanding why the research on facial expressions of social humanoid robots fails where it is not accepted completely in the current society owing to the uncanny valley theory. This paper identifies the problem with the current facial expression research as information retrieval problem. This paper identifies the current research method in the design of facial expressions of social robots, followed by using deep learning as similarity evaluation technique to measure the humanness of the facial ex- pressions developed from the current technique and further suggests a novel solution to the facial expression design of humanoids using deep learning.Dissertation/ThesisMasters Thesis Computer Science 201

Humanoid robots are being used in many industrial and domestic application in which human-robot interaction plays an important role. One of the important existing challenges is developing an accurate real-time face recognition system which is not required to be computationally expensive. In this research work a real-time face recognition system which requires low computational complexity is proposed. For this purpose, this thesis is investigating block processing of local binary patterns of the face images captured by NAO robot, a humanoid. For test purposes, the proposed method is adopted on NAO robot and tested under realworld conditions. The experimental results through this thesis are showing that the proposed face recognition algorithm compares favorably to the conventional and state-of-the-art techniques

The development of human navigation and tracking in the real time environment will lead to the implementation of more advanced tasks that can performed by the autonomous robots. That means, we proposed new intelligent algorithm for human identification using difficult of facial and speech which can substantially improve the rate of recognition as compared to the biometric identification for Robust system development. This project system that can recognize face using Eigenface recognizer with Principal component analysis (PCA) and human voice using the Hidden Markov Model(HMM) and. Also in this paper, combinations of algorithms such as modified Eigenface, Haar-Cascade classifier, PCA and HMM resulted in a more robust system for facial and speech recognition. The proposed system was implemented on AR drone 2.0 using the Microsoft Visual Studio 2015 platform together with EmguCV. The testing of the proposed system carried out in an indoor environment in order to evaluate its performance in terms of detection distance, angle of detection, and accuracy of detection. 500 images of different people were used for face recognition at detection distances. The best average result of 92.22% was obtained at a detection

Introduction: This article is the result of research entitled "Development of a prototype to optimize access conditions to the SENA-Pescadero using artificial intelligence and open-source tools", developed at the Servicio Nacional de Aprendizaje in 2020.   Problem: How to identify Machine Learning Techniques applied to computer vision processes through a literature review? Objective: Determine the application, as well as advantages and disadvantages of machine learning techniques focused on the detection and identification of people. Methodology: Systematic literature review in 4 high-impact bibliographic and scientific databases, using search filters and information selection criteria. Results: Machine Learning techniques defined as Principal Component Analysis, Weak Label Regularized Local Coordinate Coding, Support Vector Machines, Haar Cascade Classifiers and EigenFaces and FisherFaces, as well as their applicability in detection and identification processes.   Conclusion: The research led to the identification of the main computational intelligence techniques based on machine learning, applied to the detection and identification of people. Their influence was shown in several application cases, but most of them were focused on the implementation and optimization of access control systems, or tasks in which the identification of people was required for the execution of processes. Originality: Through this research, we studied and defined the main machine learning techniques currently used for the detection and identification of people. Limitations: The systematic review is limited to information available in the 4 databases consulted, and the amount of information is variable as articles are deposited in the databases. The idea of robots acting as human companions is not a particularly new or original one. Since the notion of “robot ” was created, the idea of robots replacing humans in dangerous, dirty and dull activities has been inseparably tied with the fantasy of human-like robots being friends and existing side by side with humans. In 1989, Engelberger (Engelberger
