So we need accurateness on automatic personal identification in various applications such as ATM, driving license, passports, citizen's card, cellular telephones, voter's ID card etc. Unimodal system carries some problems such as Noise in sensed data, Intra-class variations, Inter-class similarities, Non-universality and Spoof attacks. The accuracy of system is improved by combining different biometric traits which are called multimodal.     Biometric system can be defined as the automated method of identifying or authenticating the identity of a living person based on physiological or behavioral traits. Palmprint biometric-based authentication has gained considerable attention in recent years. Globally, enterprises have been exploring biometric authorization for some time, for the purpose of security, payment processing, law enforcement CCTV systems, and even access to offices, buildings, and gyms via the entry doors. Palmprint biometric system can be divided into unimodal and multimodal. This paper will investigate the biometric system and provide a detailed overview of the palmprint technology with existing recognition approaches.     A Bimodal Biometric Student Attendance System

    A lot of attempts have been made to use biometrics in class attendance systems. Most of the implemented biometric attendance systems are unimodal. Unimodal biometric systems may be spoofed easily, leading to a reduction in recognition accuracy. This paper explores the use of bimodal biometrics to improve the recognition accuracy of automated student attendance systems. The system uses the face and fingerprint to take students’ attendance. The students’ faces were captured using webcam and preprocessed by converting the color images to grey scale images. The grey scale images were then normalized to reduce noise. Principal Component Analysis (PCA) algorithm was used for facial feature extraction while Support Vector Machine (SVM) was used for classification. Fingerprints were captured using a fingerprint reader. A thinning algorithm digitized and extracted the minutiae from the scanned fingerprints. The logical technique (OR) was used to fuse the two biometric data at the decision level. The fingerprint templates and facial images of each user were stored along with their particulars in a database. The implemented system had a minimum recognition accuracy of 87.83%

    Palmprint Gender Classification Using Deep Learning Methods

    Gender identification is an important technique that can improve the performance of authentication systems by reducing searching space and speeding up the matching process. Several biometric traits have been used to ascertain human gender. Among them, the human palmprint possesses several discriminating features such as principal-lines, wrinkles, ridges, and minutiae features and that offer cues for gender identification. The goal of this work is to develop novel deep-learning techniques to determine gender from palmprint images. PolyU and CASIA palmprint databases with 90,000 and 5502 images respectively were used for training and testing purposes in this research. After ROI extraction and data augmentation were performed, various convolutional and deep learning-based classification approaches were empirically designed, optimized, and tested. Results of gender classification as high as 94.87% were achieved on the PolyU palmprint database and 90.70% accuracy on the CASIA palmprint database. Optimal performance was achieved by combining two different pre-trained and fine-tuned deep CNNs (VGGNet and DenseNet) through score level average fusion. In addition, Gradient-weighted Class Activation Mapping (Grad-CAM) was also implemented to ascertain which specific regions of the palmprint are most discriminative for gender classification

    FASTER AND ACCURATE MATCHING TECHNIQUE FOR PALMPRINT IDENTIFICATION

    This paper presents the palmprint identification based on 2D and 3D palmprint matching methods. The methods are more efficetive, less extraction time, less matching time and accurate for palmprint matching. Firstly, we remove noises from palmprint images using hybrid median filter methods. Secondly,In 3D palmprint matching follow two arguments and proposed a  new method for palmprint features. The proposed method has better perfomance and also significantly reduce the templete size. This method of 3D shape palmprint to either convex or concave. The experimental results shows that the better palmprint matching, more accurate and less extract time features compare to existing methods
