Applying Java to the Domain of Hard Real-Time Systems

International audienceOrganizations are attracted to Java because the language has proven more economical than C and C++. Companies that have made the switch to Java typically find that they are twice as productive during development of new functionality and five to ten times as productive during reuse of existing code. Organizations that develop in Java also observe decreased software error rates, increased software reuse and longevity, and improved recruitment of competent developers. Special hard real-time Java development practices enable proofs of resource needs and determinism. Early analysis demonstrates that the hard real-time Java platform runs in less than a tenth the memory footprint and up to three times faster than traditional Java for typical hard real-time tasks. Determinism is on par with typical C code, offering more than a 20-fold improvement over the timing predictability of traditional Java

The novel tells about life in society as a social problem. One of the problems of life that is often the author's scrutiny is the issue of education. The purpose of this study was to determine, (1) the moral values in the novel Invite God to the Land of Java by Sekar Ayu Asmara, (2) the religious values in the novel Invite God to the Land of Java by Sekar Ayu Asmara, and (3) the value of hard work in Novel Invite God to the Land of Java by Sekar Ayu Asmara. The research method used to examine the value of education in the Novel Invite God to the Land of Java by Sekar Ayu Asmara is a descriptive qualitative method. The sources of data in this study are words, sentences and quotes from the Novel Invite God to the Land of Java by Sekar Ayu Asmara. The data collection technique in this research is a listening, reading and note-taking technique, in this case a study of the texts of the Novel Invite God to the Land of Java by Sekar Ayu Asmara. The results showed, (1) the moral values in the novel Invite God to the Land of Java by Sekar Ayu Asmara were dominated by Mama Hannah's advice to Rebekah. (2) Religious values in the novel Invite God to the Land of Java by Sekar Ayu Asmara is a novel that tells the spiritual journey of the main character Rebekah. (3) The values of hard work in the novel Invite God to the Land of Java by Sekar Ayu Asmara. (1) The value of hard work education on the indicator of not easily giving up was found 5 times, (2) The value of hard work education on the indicator of willingness to complete work was found 4 times, (3) The value of hard work education on the indicator always carried out the work that became responsibility was found 4 times, (4) The value of hard work education on the indicator of being able to organize existing resources to carry out the task was found 3 times quoted. The value of hard work education can be known based on the character of Isaac, Rebekah and Wiro

Tool Support for Testing Java Monitors

The Java programming language supports monitors. Monitor implementations, like other concurrent programs, are hard to test due to the inherent non-determinism. This paper presents the ConAn (Concurrency Analyser) tool for generating drivers for the testing of Java monitors. To obtain adequate controllability over the interactions between Java threads, the generated driver contains processes that are synchronized by a clock. The driver automatically executes the calls in the test sequence in the prescribed order and compares the outputs against the expected outputs specified in the test sequence. The method and tool are illustrated in detail on an asymmetric producer-consumer monitor, and their application to two other monitors is discussed

In the future high energy physics experiments, the question of properly matching the phenomenological programs that describe different parts of the physics processes (such as hard scattering, hadronization, decay of resonances, detector response, etc.) is very important. In the past, FORTAN common blocks filled with lists of objects (particles, strings, clusters, etc.) of defined properties, origins and descendants were in use. Similar structures are now envisaged, for future programs, to be written in languages such as C++ or Java. From the physics point of view such an approach is not correct, since this kind of data structures impose certain approximations on the physics content. In the present paper, we will explore their limits, using examples from the physics of W's, tau's and the Higgs boson, still to be discovered.Comment: latex 10 pages, including 10 attachments in postscript forma

International audienceThe AERO ($UFKLWHFWXUH IRU (QKDQFHG 5HSURJUDPPDELOLW\ DQG 2SHUDELOLW\) is an ESA project with the objectives to investigate on a real-time Java virtual machine for ERC32 processor. Special attention was put on the garbage collection mechanism and deterministic execution model. The project have first investigate existing virtual machine to choose a potential candidate that will be customized, are then investigates the definition of requirements concerning a real-time interpreter in on-board systems. The second phase of the project was dedicated to the definition of software functions of the real-time Java virtual machine and to their implementation and assessment through validation tests. The resulting application is the AERO-JVM
