    Interplay between multiple charge-density waves and the relationship with superconductivity in Pdx_xHoTe3_{3}

    Full text link
    HoTe3_{3}, a member of the rare-earth tritelluride (RRTe3_{3}) family, and its Pd-intercalated compounds, Pdx_xHoTe3_{3}, where superconductivity (SC) sets in as the charge-density wave (CDW) transition is suppressed by the intercalation of a small amount of Pd, are investigated using angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES) and electrical resistivity. Two incommensurate CDWs with perpendicular nesting vectors are observed in HoTe3_{3} at low temperatures. With a slight Pd intercalation (xx = 0.01), the large CDW gap decreases and the small one increases. The momentum dependence of the gaps along the inner Fermi surface (FS) evolves from orthorhombicity to near tetragonality, manifesting the competition between two CDW orders. At xx = 0.02, both CDW gaps decreases with the emergence of SC. Further increasing the content of Pd for xx = 0.04 will completely suppress the CDW instabilities and give rise to the maximal SC order. The evolution of the electronic structures and electron-phonon couplings (EPCs) of the multiple CDWs upon Pd intercalation are carefully scrutinized. We discuss the interplay between multiple CDW orders, and the competition between CDW and SC in detail.Comment: 6 pages, 5 figure

    Preventive effect of the microalga Chlamydomonas debaryana on the acute phase of experimental colitis in rats

    Inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD) are characterised by chronic uncontrolled inflammation of intestinal mucosa. Diet and nutritional factors have emerged as possible interventions for IBD. Microalgae are rich sources of n-3 PUFA and derived oxylipins. Oxylipins are lipid mediators involved in the resolution of many inflammatory disorders. The aim of the present study was to investigate the effects of the oxylipin-containing biomass of the microalga Chlamydomonas debaryana and its major oxylipin constituent, (9Z,11E,13S,15Z)-13-hydroxyoctadeca-9,11,15-trienoic acid ((13S)-HOTE), on acute 2,4,6-trinitrobenzenesulfonic acid (TNBS)-induced colitis in rats. Lyophilised microalgal biomass and (13S)-HOTE were administered by oral route 48, 24 and 1 h before the induction of colitis and 24 h later, and the rats were killed after 48 h. The treatment with the lyophilised microalga and (13S)-HOTE improved body-weight loss and colon shortening, as well as attenuated the extent of colonic damage and increased mucus production. Cellular neutrophil infiltration, with the subsequent increase in myeloperoxidase levels induced by TNBS, were also reduced after the administration of the lyophilised microalga or (13S)-HOTE. The anti-inflammatory effects of these treatments were confirmed by the inhibition of colonic TNF-α production. Moreover, lyophilised microalga or (13S)-HOTE down-regulated cyclo-oxygenase-2 and inducible nitric oxide synthase expression. The present study was the first to show the prophylactic effects of a lyophilised biomass sample of the microalga C. debaryana and the oxylipin (13S)-HOTE on TNBS-induced acute colitis in rats. Our findings suggest that the microalga C. debaryana or derived oxylipins could be used as nutraceuticals in the treatment of the active phase of IBD.España Ministerio de Ciencia Innovación, Gobierno de España (grant no. SemEval-2016 task 5 : aspect based sentiment analysis

    Get PDF
    International audienceThis paper describes the SemEval 2016 shared task on Aspect Based Sentiment Analysis (ABSA), a continuation of the respective tasks of 2014 and 2015. In its third year, the task provided 19 training and 20 testing datasets for 8 languages and 7 domains, as well as a common evaluation procedure. From these datasets, 25 were for sentence-level and 14 for text-level ABSA; the latter was introduced for the first time as a subtask in SemEval. The task attracted 245 submissions from 29 teams

    On the importance of sectoral shocks for price-setting

    Get PDF
    We use a novel disaggregate sectoral euro area dataset with a regional breakdown that allows explicit estimation of the sectoral component of price changes (rather than interpreting the idiosyncratic component as sectoral as done in other papers). Employing a new method to extract factors from over-lapping data blocks, we find for our euro area data set that the sectoral component explains much less of the variation in sectoral regional inflation rates and exhibits much less volatility than previous findings for the US indicate. Country- and region-specific factors play an important role in addition to the sector-specific factors. We conclude that sectoral price changes have a “geographical” dimension, as yet unexplored in the literature, that might lead to new insights regarding the properties of sectoral price changes

    Evaluasi Kesesuaian Lahan Lokasi Transmigrasi Sp4 Hote Kabupaten Seram Bagian Timur

    Get PDF
    Program transmigrasi adalah kebijakan pemerintah untuk mempercepat pembangunan di daerah terpencil. Pemilihan lokasi transmigrasi yang tepat penting untuk kesuksesan program ini. Kesesuaian lahan menjadi faktor kunci dalam menentukan lokasi optimal. Penelitian ini mengkaji kesesuaian lahan untuk lokasi transmigrasi dengan mempertimbangkan kondisi fisik lahan, sosial ekonomi masyarakat setempat, dan kebijakan yang berlaku. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kesesuaian lahan di SP4 Hote sangat tergantung pada kondisi fisik lahan, seperti kesuburan tanah, ketersediaan air, topografi, dan iklim. Faktor sosial ekonomi seperti aksesibilitas, kesempatan kerja, dan keberlanjutan ekonomi juga penting. Luas lahan di SP4 Hote adalah 725 Ha, termasuk untuk lahan pekarangan, lahan usaha, fasilitas umum, kuburan, test farm/seed farm, jalan, dan konservasi. Komposisi transmigran lokal dan luar propinsi di Hote adalah 40% dan 60%. Komoditas yang dapat dikembangkan di lokasi ini termasuk tanaman pangan, buah-buahan, dan tanaman tahunan seperti karet dan kelapa sawit
