NLO QCD corrections in Herwig++ with MC@NLO
We present the calculations necessary to obtain next-to-leading order QCD
precision with the Herwig++ event generator using the MC@NLO approach, and
implement them for all the processes that were previously available from
Fortran HERWIG with MC@NLO. We show a range of results comparing the two
implementations. With these calculations and recent developments in the
automatic generation of NLO matrix elements, it will be possible to obtain NLO
precision with Herwig++ for a much wider range of processesComment: 26 pages, 28 figure
Herwig++ 2.0 Release Note
A new release of the Monte Carlo program Herwig++ (version 2.0) is now
available. This is the first version of the program which can be used for
hadron-hadron physics and includes the full simulation of both initial- and
final-state QCD radiation.Comment: Source code and additional information available at

Colour Rearrangement for Dipole Showers
We present an algorithm to rearrange the colour chains of dipole showers in
the shower process according to the colour amplitudes of a simple matrix
element. We implement the procedure in the dipole shower of Herwig and show
comparisons to data.Comment: 4 pages, 6 figures, HERWIG-2018-01, LU-TP-18-01, MCnet-18-0
The new Monte Carlo Event Generator Herwig++
We present results obtained with the new Monte Carlo event generator
Herwig++. In its first version (1.0), Herwig++ is capable of simulating e+e-
Annihilation events. We compare results for different distributions with a vast
amount of available data from e+e- annihilation.Comment: Proceedings of the XIIth International Workshop on Deep Inelastic
Scattering (DIS04), Strbske Pleso, Slovakia, April 14-18 200
Herwig 7.1 Release Note
A new release of the Monte Carlo event generator Herwig (version 7.1) is now
available. This version introduces a number of improvements, notably: multi-jet
merging with the dipole shower at LO and NLO QCD; a new model for soft
interactions and diffraction; improvements to mass effects and top decays in
the dipole shower, as well as a new tune of the hadronisation parameters.Comment: 7 pages, 7 figures. Herwig is available from

Bottom-quark fragmentation: comparing results from tuned event generators and resummed calculations
We study bottom-quark fragmentation in e+e- annihilation, top and Higgs decay
H -> b bbar, using Monte Carlo event generators, as well as calculations, based
on the formalism of perturbative fragmentation functions, which resum soft- and
collinear-radiation effects in the next-to-leading logarithmic approximation.
We consider the PYTHIA and HERWIG generators, and implement matrix-element
corrections to the parton shower simulation of the H -> b bbar process in
HERWIG. We tune the Kartvelishvili, string and cluster models to B-hadron data
from LEP and SLD, and present results in both x_B and moment spaces. The
B-hadron spectra yielded by HERWIG, PYTHIA and resummed calculations show small
discrepancies, which are due to the different approaches and models employed
and to the quality of the fits to the e+e- data.Comment: 22 pages, 11 colour figures. Minor changes in the text, published
