New H∞ control design for polytopic systems with mixed time-varying delays in state and input

This paper concerns with the problem of state-feedback H∞ control design for a class of linear systems with polytopic uncertainties and mixed time-varying delays in state and input. Our approach can be described as follows. We first construct a state-feedback controller based on the idea of parameter-dependent controller design. By constructing a new parameter-dependent Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional (LKF), we then derive new delay-dependent conditions in terms of linear matrix inequalities ensuring the exponential stability of the corresponding closed-loop system with a H∞ disturbance attenuation level. The effectiveness and applicability of the obtained results are demonstrated by practical examples

Robust Predictive Extended State Observer for a Class of Nonlinear Systems with Time-Varying Input Delay

[EN] This paper deals with asymptotic stabilisation of a class of nonlinear input-delayed systems via dynamic output feedback in the presence of disturbances. The proposed strategy has the structure of an observer-based control law, in which the observer estimates and predicts both the plant state and the external disturbance. A nominal delay value is assumed to be known and stability conditions in terms of linear matrix inequalities are derived for fast-varying delay uncertainties. Asymptotic stability is achieved if the disturbance or the time delay is constant. The controller design problem is also addressed and a numerical example with an unstable system is provided to illustrate the usefulness of the proposed strategy. This work was partially supported by: Ministerio de EconomĂa y Competitividad, Spain (TIN2017-86520-C3-1-R); Universitat PolitĂšcnica de ValĂšncia (FPI-UPV 2014 PhD Grant); and Israel Science Foundation (Grant No. 1128/14).Sanz Diaz, R.; GarcĂa Gil, PJ.; Fridman, E.; Albertos PĂ©rez, P. Rejection of mismatched disturbances for systems with input delay via a predictive extended state observer

[EN] The problem of output stabilization and disturbance rejection for input-delayed systems is tackled in this work. First, a suitable transformation is introduced to translate mismatched disturbances into an equivalent input disturbance. Then, an extended state observer is combined with a predictive observer structure to obtain a future estimation of both the state and the disturbance. A disturbance model is assumed to be known but attenuation of unmodeled components is also considered. The stabilization is proved via Lyapunov-Krasovskii functionals, leading to sufficient conditions in terms of linear matrix inequalities for the closed-loop analysis and parameter tuning. The proposed strategy is illustrated through a numerical example.PROMETEOII/2013/004; Conselleria d'Educacio; Generalitat Valenciana, Grant/Award Number: TIN2014-56158-C4-4-P-AR; Ministerio de Economia y Competitividad, Grant/Award Number: FPI-UPV 2014; Universitat Politecnica de ValenciaSanz Diaz, R.; GarcĂa Gil, PJ.; Fridman, E.; Albertos PĂ©rez, P. Robustness analysis of discrete predictor-based controllers for input-delay systems

In this article, robustness to model uncertainties are analysed in the context of discrete predictor-based state-feedback controllers for discrete-time input-delay systems with time-varying delay, in an LMI framework. The goal is comparing robustness of predictor-based strategies with respect to other (sub)optimal state feedback ones. A numerical example illustrates that improvements in tolerance to modelling errors can be achieved by using the predictor framework. The authors are grateful for grant nos. Robust controller design for input-delayed systems using predictive feedback and an uncertainty estimator

[EN] This paper deals with the problem of stabilizing a class of input-delayed systems with (possibly) nonlinear uncertainties by using explicit delay compensation. It is well known that plain predictive schemes lack robustness with respect to uncertain model parameters. In this work, an uncertainty estimator is derived for input-delay systems and combined with a modified state predictor, which uses current available information of the estimated uncertainties. Furthermore, based on Lyapunov-Krasovskii functionals, a computable criterion to check robust stability of the closed-loop is developed and cast into a minimization problem constrained to an LMI. Additionally, for a given input delay, an iterative-LMI algorithm is proposed to design stabilizing tuning parameters. The main results are illustrated and validated using a numerical example with a second-order dynamic system. This work was partially supported by projects PROMETEOII/2013/004, Conselleria d EducaciĂł, Generalitat Valenciana, and TIN2014-56158-C4-4-P-AR, Ministerio de EconomĂa y Competitividad, Spain.Sanz Diaz, R.; GarcĂa Gil, PJ.; Albertos PĂ©rez, P.; Zhong, Q. Distributed Robust H

Robust H∞ consensus control problem is investigated for multiagent systems. Each agent is tackled in a more generalized form, which includes parameter uncertainties, external disturbances, nonidentical time-varying state, and input delays. Firstly, a distributed control protocol based on state feedback of neighbors is designed. By a decoupling method, H∞ consensus control problem for multiagent systems is transformed into H∞ control problem for the decoupling subsystems. Then employing Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional and free-weighting matrices, a lower conservative bounded real lemma (BRL) is derived in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs) such that a class of time-delay system is guaranteed to be globally asymptotically stable with the desired H∞ performance index. Extending BRL, a sufficient delay-dependent condition of lower complexity in terms of the matrix inequalities is obtained to make all agents asymptotically reach consensus with the desired H∞ performance index. Furthermore, an algorithm is elaborately designed to get feasible solution to this condition. Extending this algorithm, an optimization algorithm for control protocol parameter is proposed to improve the disturbance attenuation capacity or allowable delay bounds. Finally, simulation results are provided to illustrate the correctness of the theoretical results and the effectiveness of the algorithms

Optimal Control for Aperiodic Dual-Rate Systems With Time-Varying Delays

[EN] In this work, we consider a dual-rate scenario with slow input and fast output. Our objective is the maximization of the decay rate of the system through the suitable choice of the n-input signals between two measures (periodic sampling) and their times of application. The optimization algorithm is extended for time-varying delays in order to make possible its implementation in networked control systems. We provide experimental results in an air levitation system to verify the validity of the algorithm in a real plant. This work was supported in part by the Spanish Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness (MINECO) under the Projects DPI2012-31303 and DPI2014-55932-C2-2-R.Aranda-Escolástico, E.; Salt Llobregat, JJ.; Guinaldo, M.; Chacon, J.; Dormido, S. Time-Varying Input and State Delay Compensation for Uncertain Nonlinear Systems

A robust controller is developed for uncertain, second-order nonlinear systems subject to simultaneous unknown, time-varying state delays and known, time-varying input delays in addition to additive, sufficiently smooth disturbances. An integral term composed of previous control values facilitates a delay-free open-loop error system and the development of the feedback control structure. A stability analysis based on Lyapunov-Krasovskii (LK) functionals guarantees uniformly ultimately bounded tracking under the assumption that the delays are bounded and slowly varying
