PLOS and the PLOS ONE team would like to express our appreciation for our academic editors, guest editors, and reviewers who contributed to the peer-review process this past year. We are indebted to volunteers who generously give their time and expertise to thoroughly review research and advance Open Access. In 2017, PLOS ONE received the help of over 4,400 Editorial Board members and 500 guest editors to curate nearly 45,000 submissions. Along with the participation of 63,000 reviewers, we were able to publish more than 20,000 articles with meaningful and impactful results. The names of our 2017 editors that handled submitted manuscripts appear in the Supporting Information as S1 Editor List and as S1 Guest Editor List. Our reviewers appear in the Supporting Information as S1–S5 Reviewer List. With genuine gratitude, we thank you all for your dedicated support of PLOS ONE and our efforts to promote Open Science, thereby contributing to the scientific community as a whole. Thank you all

Ground-breaking fresh ideas: introduction to the special issue for young researchers

    Get PDF
The IJTEL young researcher special issue on ‘Ground-breaking fresh ideas in technology enhanced learning’ is a bit different than other journal special issues. The main idea of IJTEL’s editor in chief Ambjörn Naeve was to have a platform where PhD students and early post-docs can present their visions for TEL. Freed from the empirical limitations of a dissertation, it should allow young researchers to take a step back and bring fresh ideas to the field. This concept was picked up by an enthusiastic group of guest editors consisting of PhD students and young postdocs at JTEL Summer School 2010. But not only is the theme something different, we also tried to innovate in the process: the programme committee included experienced reviewers as well as novel reviewers to get different perspectives on the submitted papers. Furthermore, we provided an ideas clinic, where potential authors could present their ideas and seek feedback and collaboration. An abstract submission prior to the full paper submission completed the effort to provide as much feedback and guidance as possible. The whole process was overseen by managing editor Fridolin Wild to guarantee the high quality standards of both IJTEL and Inderscience.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

This current issue is one that brings with it anticipation. We look forward with anticipation to our biennial conference at the end of May, this year hosted by our colleagues at Gordon College, near Boston. If you have not yet registered it is not too late, and we would love to see you there. I hope that you have been looking forward to the release of this Winter, 2008 issue of the ICCTE Journal. While we generally release the Winter issue in the winter (end of January), your editor has been tardy and for that I wish to extend my apologies to our readers, reviewers and authors. I hope that you will find, however that the wait was worth it, as we have four worthwhile articles and a guest editorial now ready for you

The procedure of reviewing publications The procedure of reviewing articles published in the journal “Ordines Militares Ordines Militares Colloquia Torunensia Historica. Yearbook for the Study of the Military Orders” is as follows: Two independent reviewers are appointed to define the academic value of each text sent to the editorial office. Each reviewer of a given text is an employee of scientific institutions  in the country other than the country of origin of the author of the article. Neither of the reviewers knows the identity of the other reviewer. The names of the reviewers of given texts remain secret and they are kept by the editorial team. However, in each volume there appears a list of reviewers cooperating with the editorial staff. Reviews are in a written form. To publish an article it is necessary to obtain the agreement of both reviewers who express and justify  their opinions concerning the academic nature and the scientific value of a reviewed text. Ethics Statement The journal “Ordines Militares Colloquia Torunensia Historica. Yearbook for the Study of the Military Orders” implements ethics rules as well as “ghostwriting”, “guest authorship” and plagiarism detection procedures, which are prepared in accordance with COPE standards.
