    VIKOR Technique:A Systematic Review of the State of the Art Literature on Methodologies and Applications

    The main objective of this paper is to present a systematic review of the VlseKriterijuska Optimizacija I Komoromisno Resenje (VIKOR) method in several application areas such as sustainability and renewable energy. This study reviewed a total of 176 papers, published in 2004 to 2015, from 83 high-ranking journals; most of which were related to Operational Research, Management Sciences, decision making, sustainability and renewable energy and were extracted from the “Web of Science and Scopus” databases. Papers were classified into 15 main application areas. Furthermore, papers were categorized based on the nationalities of authors, dates of publications, techniques and methods, type of studies, the names of the journals and studies purposes. The results of this study indicated that more papers on VIKOR technique were published in 2013 than in any other year. In addition, 13 papers were published about sustainability and renewable energy fields. Furthermore, VIKOR and fuzzy VIKOR methods, had the first rank in use. Additionally, the Journal of Expert Systems with Applications was the most significant journal in this study, with 27 publications on the topic. Finally, Taiwan had the first rank from 22 nationalities which used VIKOR technique

    Supplier evaluation and selection in fuzzy environments: a review of MADM approaches

    In past years, the multi-attribute decision-making (MADM) approaches have been extensively applied by researchers to the supplier evaluation and selection problem. Many of these studies were performed in an uncertain environment described by fuzzy sets. This study provides a review of applications of MADM approaches for evaluation and selection of suppliers in a fuzzy environment. To this aim, a total of 339 publications were examined, including papers in peer-reviewed journals and reputable conferences and also some book chapters over the period of 2001 to 2016. These publications were extracted from many online databases and classified in some categories and subcategories according to the MADM approaches, and then they were analysed based on the frequency of approaches, number of citations, year of publication, country of origin and publishing journals. The results of this study show that the AHP and TOPSIS methods are the most popular approaches. Moreover, China and Taiwan are the top countries in terms of number of publications and number of citations, respectively. The top three journals with highest number of publications were: Expert Systems with Applications, International Journal of Production Research and The International Journal of Advanced Manufacturing Technology

    Supplier evaluation in manufacturing environment using compromise ranking method with grey interval numbers

    Evaluation of proper supplier for manufacturing organizations is one of the most challenging problems in real time manufacturing environment due to a wide variety of customer demands. It has become more and more complicated to meet the challenges of international competitiveness and as the decision makers need to assess a wide range of alternative suppliers based on a set of conflicting criteria. Thus, the main objective of supplier selection is to select highly potential supplier through which all the set goals regarding the purchasing and manufacturing activity can be achieved. Because of these reasons, supplier selection has got considerable attention by the academicians and researchers. This paper presents a combined multi-criteria decision making methodology for supplier evaluation for given industrial applications. The proposed methodology is based on a compromise ranking method combined with Grey Interval Numbers considering different cardinal and ordinal criteria and their relative importance. A ‘supplier selection index’ is also proposed to help evaluation and ranking the alternative suppliers. Two examples are illustrated to demonstrate the potentiality and applicability of the proposed method

    An integrated method for airline company supplier selection based on the entropy and vikor methods: a real case study

    All certified airlines require to implement a safety and quality management system. Therefore, the quality of all services and products with critical operational domains have been challenging issues in the aviation industry. In this regard, supplier selection plays an important role to acquire competitive benefits. Flight operations is critical scope in an airline and their outputs have a direct impact on flight safety consequences. Therefore, the quality of supplier’s product and services play the main role in their flight operations process. In this research, a new decision-making framework is developed to evaluate the performance of the suppliers based on the Entropy and VIKOR approaches. At the outset, the main criteria and sub-criteria are identified based on the literature and expert\u27s viewpoint and then their weights are calculated using the Entropy method. Afterward, the potential suppliers are ranked using the VIKOR method. The airline supplier’s assessment through expert judgment and integrated criteria are the new approaches that are developed in this paper. The obtained results show that economic, quality and safety, and reputation respectively are the main criteria to select suppliers

    Improving supply chain management is one way to excel in competition. The selection of suppliers is an important part because the lack of proper supplier selection can lead to losses for the company. In its practice, the supplier selection process is more frequently based on a supplier that can provide the lowest price. This happens because the supplier selection process is considered to be at the operational level and not at the strategic level. The number of raw material suppliers on the construction project makes the developers be careful in choosing the material that is according to the developers’ plans. All this time, the selection of suppliers involves many factors, sometimes a supplier has a good performance in terms of the delivery process, yet lacks in terms of quality compared to other suppliers and vice versa. Therefore, research must be done with a method that can take the factors, both the qualitative and quantitative, into consideration. This study is conducted to identify the factors of the selection of construction raw material suppliers and the support of alternative decision support in the selection of construction raw material suppliers. The purpose of this research is to identify the factors of the selection of raw material suppliers and the support of alternative decision in the selection of construction raw material suppliers. This research is expected to help the construction industry, especially in the city of Jember regarding the importance of knowing the factors of the selection of construction raw material suppliers and the decision of the selection of construction raw material suppliers especially if the selection of the construction raw material is in the power of the developer. The method used is the integration of AHP and Vikor using rough number. This research is expected to facilitate the process of selecting raw material suppliers and the selection of its alternatives.The results of this study gain the order of priority of 9 criteria and 23 sub-criteria. The recommended selection of suppliers based on its ranking on the sand suppliers is sand supplier P3, sand supplier P2, and sand supplier P1. Meanwhile, the ranking for the coral suppliers is coral supplier K3, then coral supplier K2, and lastly coral supplier K

    In this work scientific and simple calculation method for manufacturer?s decision-makers to choose the most ideal supplier in the Supply Chain Management problem has been provided. As a fundamental decision-making for manufacturers, the quality of supplier performance not only affects the downstream business, but also determines the success of the whole supply chain. Therefore, choosing suitable suppliers in the supply chain becomes a key strategic step; it directly impacts the benefit for manufacturers. This paper deals with the supplier selection problem based on VIKOR algorithm (Vlse Kriterijumska Optimizacija Kompromisno Resenje) which is a compromise multiple criteria decision making approach with entropy method which gives the weights to indicators. The VIKOR algorithm deals with the conflicts between indicators based on certain way to sort the scheme and choose the best scheme. A numerical example is proposed to illustrate the effectiveness of this algorithm.     A toolset for complex decision making in analyze phase of Lean Six Sigma Project: A case validation

    The analyze phase of Lean Six Sigma (LSS) project is an important phase where the project heads and organizational directors need to select the critical issues for further improvements. The present work is primarily focused on analyze phase of LSS project to prioritized the Critical to Quality (CTQs) in a particular case industry. The CTQs prioritization is being done based on the five evaluation criteria found from the literature. The weights of the criteria are determined through the Modified Digital Logic (MDL) method. The identified CTQs in assembly section of case industry have been ranked through the Grey Relation Analysis (GRA) under fuzzy environment. The results of the study have been validated using fuzzy VIKOR. It is found that the ‘cost’ criterion is the most significant among other criteria with MDL weight of 0.3. Through fuzzy-GRA, out of ten identified CTQs, non availability of rack system is found to be the most critical issue in assembly section of case industry. The perceptions of industrial manager and production head of case industry are strongly in favor of the obtained results and has implemented the suggested solutions.To sustain in the competitive environment and produce quality product at right time, organizations need to control their CTQs as per their criticality. For this, the decision making becomes quite complex to select the most critical factors due to the fascinating nature of various criteria and sub-criteria. The present study is the first attempt that has implemented the multi-criteria decision-making approach in analyze phase of LSS project

    Bibliometric analysis of scientific production on methods to aid decision making in the last 40 years

    Purpose: Multicriteria methods have gained traction in both academia and industry practices for effective decision-making over the years. This bibliometric study aims to explore and provide an overview of research carried out on multicriteria methods, in its various aspects, over the past forty-four years. Design/Methodology/Approach: The Web of Science (WoS) and Scopus databases were searched for publications from January 1945 to April 29, 2021, on multicriteria methods in titles, abstracts, and keywords. The bibliographic data were analyzed using the R bibliometrix package. Findings: This bibliometric study asserts that 29,050 authors have produced 20,861 documents on the theme of multicriteria methods in 131 countries in the last forty-four years. Scientific production in this area grows at a rate of 13.88 per year. China is the leading country in publications with 14.14%; India with 10.76%; and Iran with 8.09%. Islamic Azad University leads others with 504 publications, followed by the Vilnius Gediminas Technical University with 456 and the National Institute of Technology with 336. As for journals, Expert Systems With Applications; Sustainability; and Journal of Cleaner Production are the leading journals, which account for more than 4.67% of all indexed literature. Furthermore, Zavadskas E. and Wang J have the highest publications in the multicriteria methods domain regarding the authors. Regarding the most commonly used multicriteria decision-making methods, AHP is the most favored approach among the ten countries with the most publications in this research area, followed by TOPSIS, VIKOR, PROMETHEE, and ANP. Practical implications: The bibliometric literature review method allows the researchers to explore the multicriteria research area more extensively than the traditional literature review method. It enables a large dataset of bibliographic records to be systematically analyzed through statistical measures, yielding informative insights. Originality/value: The usefulness of this bibliometric study is summed in presenting an overview of the topic of the multicriteria methods during the previous forty-four years, allowing other academics to use this research as a starting point for their research

    Ranking the Suppliers using a Combined SWARA-FVIKOR Approach

    People are evaluating suppliers due to their responsibility which requires the need of a structured process for supplier evaluation. In this paper we used a new model for weighting of criterias and ranking the alternatives. This model is the combination of SWARA (Stepwise weight assessment ratio analysis) and FVIKOR (VlseKriter ijumskaOptimizacija I KompromisnoResenje) methods which evaluate the main criterias based on evaluation of factors that have major impacts on quality of suppliers, and selects the best suppliers according to the criterias. SWARA method is used in determining the weights of the criteria by decision makers and then rankings of the suppliers were determined by Fuzzy VIKOR method. The proposed method in this study is used for ranking the three suppliers of ABZARSAZI in Iran by five indexes that have major impacts on it. For this purpose, in this paper, designed questionnaires are sent to 20 professional experts in different departments of ABZARSAZI COMPANY in Iran for evaluating the criterias using SWARA. The result showed that Delivery is the most important criterias. Such, the results of FVIKOR technique showed that supplier 1 is the best supplier. This proposed approach gives an evaluation method for all of the companies in order to help managers to identify the best suppliers
