Grid Computing in a Healthcare Environment:A Framework for Enterprise Design and Implementation
In this paper, we present an overview of grid computing, examine the potential uses for grid computing in healthcare environments, and propose a decision framework for healthcare information systems in large healthcare organizations. The proposed framework extends the Enterprise Desktop Grid architecture to allow healthcare systems to validate whether a grid computing system is an appropriate choice for their system, and to enhance decision making regarding the architecture of such a grid
Intel-oneAPI para Computación Heterogénea
Trabajo de Fin de Grado en IngenierÃa Informática, Facultad de Informática UCM, Departamento de Departamento de Arquitectura de Computadores y Automática, Curso 2020/2021"oneAPI is a cross-industry, open, standards-based unified programming model that delivers a common developer experience across accelerator architectures—for faster application performance, more productivity, and greater innovation."

The Intel DPC++ Compatibility Tool is a component of the Intel oneAPI base toolkit. This tool automatically transforms CUDA code into Data Parallel C++ (DPC++) assisting in the migration process.
This project consists of an analysis of the DPC++ Compatibility Tool, considering the manual intervention required and the problems encountered while migrating the Rodinia benchmarks. And a comparative study of the performance obtained by the migrated code."oneAPI es un modelo de programación unificado, abierto y basado en estándares, que ofrece una experiencia de desarrollador común en todas las arquitecturas de aceleradores, para un rendimiento de aplicaciones más rápido, más productividad y una mayor innovación."

Strategic Analysis for the Open Source Institute at Simon Fraser University
Over the last decades, Open Source Software (OSS) has become increasingly popular and moved into the mainstream software industry. Our project\u27s goal is to investigate the need for an Open Source Institute (OSI) within Simon Fraser University (SFU). We performed a literature review and interviewed IT specialists from various local companies. We identified some barriers to the adoption of OSS, including lack of working knowledge of OSS, lack of multi-tier technical support, and legal concerns. Our analysis confirmed the need for this institute to promote OSS. We recommend that the SFU-OSI should broker technical support for OSS, to increase the level of awareness by organizing events and incubator-type initiatives, to offer various levels of training, to create standards and frameworks for user-friendly and well-documented OSS, to mine the undocumented innovations embedded in mature OSS, and to work with governments to leverage OSS for the betterment of society
Software protection
A computer system's security can be compromised in many ways—a denial-of-service attack can make a server inoperable, a worm can destroy a user's private data, or an eavesdropper can reap financial rewards by inserting himself in the communication link between a customer and her bank through a man-in-the-middle (MITM) attack. What all these scenarios have in common is that the adversary is an untrusted entity that attacks a system from the outside—we assume that the computers under attack are operated by benign and trusted users. But if we remove this assumption, if we allow anyone operating a computer system—from system administrators down to ordinary users—to compromise that system's security, we find ourselves in a scenario that has received comparatively little attention
Comparative Study Of Implementing The On-Premises and Cloud Business Intelligence On Business Problems In a Multi-National Software Development Company
Internship Report presented as the partial requirement for obtaining a Master's degree in Information Management, specialization in Knowledge Management and Business IntelligenceNowadays every enterprise wants to be competitive. In the last decade, the data volumes are increased dramatically. As each year data in the market increases, the ability to extract, analyze and manage the data become the backbone condition for the organization to be competitive.
In this condition, organizations need to adapt their technologies to the new business reality in order to be competitive and provide new solutions that meet new requests. Business Intelligence by the main definition is the ability to extract analyze and manage the data through which an organization gain a competitive advantage. Before using this approach, it’s important to decide on which computing system it will base on, considering the volume of data, business context of the organization and technologies requirements of the market.
In the last 10 years, the popularity of cloud computing increased and divided the computing Systems into On-Premises and cloud. The cloud benefits are based on providing scalability, availability and fewer costs. On another hand, traditional On-Premises provides independence of software configuration, control over data and high security. The final decision as to which computing paradigm to follow in the organization it’s not an easy task as well as depends on the business context of the organization, and the characteristics of the performance of the current On-Premises systems in business processes. In this case, Business Intelligence functions and requires in-depth analysis in order to understand if cloud computing technologies could better perform in those processes than traditional systems.
The objective of this internship is to conduct a comparative study between 2 computing systems in Business Intelligence routine functions. The study will compare the On-Premises Business Intelligence Based on Oracle Architecture with Cloud Business Intelligence based on Google Cloud Services. A comparative study will be conducted through participation in activities and projects in the Business Intelligence department, of a company that develops software digital solutions to serve the telecommunications market for 12 months, as an internship student in the 2nd year of a master’s degree in Information Management, with a specialization in Knowledge Management and Business Intelligence at Nova Information Management School (NOVA IMS)
