Fractional recurrence in discrete-time quantum walk

Quantum recurrence theorem holds for quantum systems with discrete energy eigenvalues and fails to hold in general for systems with continuous energy. We show that during quantum walk process dominated by interference of amplitude corresponding to different paths fail to satisfy the complete quantum recurrence theorem. Due to the revival of the fractional wave packet, a fractional recurrence characterized using quantum P\'olya number can be seen.Comment: 10 pages, 11 figure : Accepted to appear in Central European Journal of Physic

Dynamics of entanglement between two trapped atoms

We investigate the dynamics of entanglement between two continuous variable quantum systems. The model system consists of two atoms in a harmonic trap which are interacting by a simplified s-wave scattering. We show, that the dynamically created entanglement changes in a steplike manner. Moreover, we introduce local operators which allow us to violate a Bell-CHSH inequality adapted to the continuous variable case. The correlations show nonclassical behavior and almost reach the maximal quantum mechanical value. This is interesting since the states prepared by this interaction are very different from any EPR-like state.Comment: 9 page

Towards a theory of attosecond transient recorder

Laser assisted photoemission by a chirped subfemtosecond extreme ultraviolet (XUV) pulse is considered within an exactly solvable quantum-mechanical model. Special emphasis is given to the energy dependence of photoexcitation cross-section. The streaked spectra are analyzed within the classical picture of initial time-momentum distribution r_ini(p,t) of photoelectrons mapped to the final energy scale. The actual time-momentum distribution in the absence of the probe laser field is shown to be a poor choice for r_ini, and a more adequate ansatz is suggested. The semiclassical theory offers a simple practically useful approximation for streaked spectra. Its limitations for sufficiently long chirped XUV pulses are established.Comment: 9 pages 8 figure

Characterization of a quantum phase transition in Dirac systems by means of the wavepacket dynamics

We study the signatures of phase transitions in the time evolution of wave-packets by analyzing two simple model systems: a graphenequantum dot model in a magnetic field and a Diracoscillator in a magnetic field. We have characterized the phase transitions using the autocorrelation function. Our work also reveals that the description in terms of Shannon entropy of the autocorrelation function is a clear phase transition indicator. This work was supported by Spanish MICINN projects FIS2011-24149 and FIS2009-08451, CEI BioTic UGR project 20F12.41 and Junta de Andalucia projects FQM-165/0207 and FQM219
