Load flow studies on stand alone microgrid system in Ranau, Sabah
This paper presents the power flow or load flow analysis of Ranau microgrid, a
standalone microgrid in the district of Ranau,West Coast Division of Sabah. Power
flow for IEEE 9 bus also performed and analyzed. Power flow is define as an
important tool involving numerical analysis applied to power system. Power flow
uses simplified notation such as one line diagram and per-unit system focusing on
voltages, voltage angles, real power and reactive power. To achieved that purpose,
this research is done by analyzing the power flow analysis and calculation of all the
elements in the microgrid such as generators, buses, loads, transformers,
transmission lines using the Power Factory DIGSilent 14 software to calculate the
power flow. After the analysis and calculations, the results were analysed and
compared
Proof in Context -- Web Editing with Rich, Modeless Contextual Feedback
The Agora system is a prototypical Wiki for formal mathematics: a web-based
system for collaborating on formal mathematics, intended to support informal
documentation of formal developments. This system requires a reusable proof
editor component, both for collaborative editing of documents, and for
embedding in the resulting documents. This paper describes the design of
Agora's asynchronous editor, that is generic enough to support different tools
working on editor content and providing contextual information, with
interactive theorem proverss being a special, but important, case described in

An improved negative selection algorithm based on the hybridization of cuckoo search and differential evolution for anomaly detection
The biological immune system (BIS) is characterized by networks of cells, tissues, and
organs communicating and working in synchronization. It also has the ability to learn,
recognize, and remember, thus providing the solid foundation for the development
of Artificial Immune System (AIS). Since the emergence of AIS, it has proved itself
as an area of computational intelligence. Real-Valued Negative Selection Algorithm
with Variable-Sized Detectors (V-Detectors) is an offspring of AIS and demonstrated
its potentials in the field of anomaly detection. The V-Detectors algorithm depends
greatly on the random detectors generated in monitoring the status of a system.
These randomly generated detectors suffer from not been able to adequately cover
the non-self space, which diminishes the detection performance of the V-Detectors
algorithm. This research therefore proposed CSDE-V-Detectors which entail the
use of the hybridization of Cuckoo Search (CS) and Differential Evolution (DE) in
optimizing the random detectors of the V-Detectors. The DE is integrated with CS
at the population initialization by distributing the population linearly. This linear
distribution gives the population a unique, stable, and progressive distribution process.
Thus, each individual detector is characteristically different from the other detectors.
CSDE capabilities of global search, and use of L´evy flight facilitates the effectiveness
of the detector set in the search space. In comparison with V-Detectors, cuckoo search,
differential evolution, support vector machine, artificial neural network, na¨ıve bayes,
and k-NN, experimental results demonstrates that CSDE-V-Detectors outperforms
other algorithms with an average detection rate of 95:30% on all the datasets. This
signifies that CSDE-V-Detectors can efficiently attain highest detection rates and
lowest false alarm rates for anomaly detection. Thus, the optimization of the randomly
detectors of V-Detectors algorithm with CSDE is proficient and suitable for anomaly
detection tasks
FLAX: Flexible and open corpus-based language collections development
In this case study we present innovative work in building open corpus-based language collections by focusing on a description of the opensource multilingual Flexible Language Acquisition (FLAX) language project, which is an ongoing example of open materials development practices for language teaching and learning. We present language-learning contexts from across formal and informal language learning in English for Academic Purposes (EAP). Our experience relates to Open Educational Resource (OER) options and Practices (OEP) which are available for developing and distributing online subject-specific language materials for uses in academic and professional settings. We are particularly concerned with closing the gap in language teacher training where competencies in materials development are still dominated by print-based proprietary course book publications. We are also concerned with the growing gap in language teaching practitioner competencies for understanding important issues of copyright and licencing that are changing rapidly in the context of digital and web literacy developments. These key issues are being largely ignored in the informal language teaching practitioner discussions and in the formal research into teaching and materials development practices
Culture and e-commerce: An exploration of the perceptions and attitudes of Egyptian internet users
This paper examines the perceptions and attitudes that Egyptian users hold towards electronic shopping sites. Internet sites are globally available, opening up huge potential markets for online retailers. However, it remains unclear whether sites designed for the US or European markets will be acceptable in other cultures. This paper describes an exploratory card sorting study conducted with Egyptian consumers. The study was designed to examine the e-commerce interface features that are most salient to this user group and to explore how these relate to user intentions to engage in internet shopping. The results support the role of site familiarity in predicting purchase intentions within this cultural setting
Keusawanan sebagai satu kerjaya : satu tinjauan di kalangan pelajar tahun akhir Sarjana Muda Kejuruteraan Awam KUiTTHO
Kajian kes ini dibuat adalah bertujuan untuk meninjau sama ada terdapat ciriciri
pra-keusahawanan di kaiangan pelajar tahun akhir Sarjana Muda Kejuruteraan
Awam KUiTTHO terhadap bidang keusahawanan sebagai satu kerjaya. Populasi
kajian ini ialah 101 orang dan sampel kajian ialah seramai 80 orang yang terdiri
daripada pelbagai kaum dan bangsa. Dapatan kajian yang diperolehi menunjukkan
terdapat ciri-ciri pra-keusahawanan dan kecenderungan pelajar terhadap bidang
keusahawanan. Hasil kajian menunjukkan pelajar cenderung untuk melibatkan diri
dalam bidang keusahawanan kerana beberapa faktor seperti minat sejak daripada
kecil, dorongan daripada ibubapa dan kawan, mewarisi perniagaan keluarga, bebas
menguruskan perniagaan dan mengemukakan idea, tidak suka kerjaya makan gaji
dan terikat dengan peraturan pejabat, serta pendapatan di bidang ini adalah lebih
lumayan. Pada keseluruhannya boleh dikatakan pelajar-pelajar telah memahami
budaya keusahawanan dan mempunyai ciri-ciri keusahawanan. Justeru itu
pendidikan keusahawanan adalah sangat penting bagi memenuhi hasrat kerajaan
untuk melahirkan tenaga keija yang berkebolehan dan berkemahiran dalam dunia
perniagaan dan keusahawanan
Model kognitif visual pelajar teknikal melalui perisian animasi grafik
Kajian ini beijudul Model Kognitif Visual Pelajar Teknikal Melalui Perisian Animasi Grafik. Kajian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji keupayaan visual dan gaya kognitif pelajar kejuruteraan terhadap prestasi pencapaian pembelajaran dalam mata pelajaran Teknologi Elektrik 1 khusus dalam topik Penjanaan melalui koswer animasi grafik. Reka bentuk kajian adalah berdasarkan kuasi eksperimental melibatkan reka bentuk ujian pra-pasca. Kajian ini memfokuskan kepada mengenal pasti perbezaan dan kesan antara prestasi pencapaian pembelajaran kumpulan pelajar yang mengikuti pembelajaran secara konvensional (kumpulan kawalan) dengan pelajar yang menggunakan perisian multimedia animasi grafik (kumpulan rawatan) berdasarkan tahap Kognitif Visual dari aspek Persepsi Visual, Memori Visual dan Visualisasi. Seramai 63 orang responden terlibat dalam kajian ini terdiri daripada pelajar yang mengikuti kursus Diploma Kejuruteraan Elektrik di Politeknik Merlimau, Melaka. Untuk mendapatkan data instrumen yang terlibat adalah set soalan ujian persepsi, ujian memori, ujian SVAT, ujian pra dan ujian pasca, borang soal selidik dan soalan temu bual. Ujian deskriptif melalui taburan frekuensi menunjukkan data kajian bertaburan secara normal maka ujian parametrik dilakukan. Analisis data menghitung min dan sisihan piawai sebagai asas pengiraan manakala inferensi hipotesis menggunakan prosedur Ujian-t dan Ujian Regresi Pelbagai. Dapatan kajian menunjukkan Hipotesis null yang ditetapkan pada aras signifikan 0.05 ditolak. Maka kajian ini dirumuskan wujud perbezaan yang signifikan secara statistik prestasi pencapaian pembelajaran berdasarkan tahap Kognitif Visual dari aspek Persepsi Visual, Memori Visual dan Visualisasi. Selain itu,wujud kesan yang signifikan pada tahap yang sederhana secara statistik dalam pendekatan ujian pencapaian dengan gabungan pelajar Persepsi Visual, Memori Visual dan Visualisasi (r = .686, p < 0.05)
Penghasilan modul pengajaran kendiri prosedur penubuhan syarikat awam berhad bagi mata pelajaran keushawanan untuk pelajar di Politeknik
Para pendidik sedar akan kewujudan perbezaan individu dikalangan para pelajar.
Dalam proses pengajaran dan pembelajaran sebenar, kita dapati bahawa pelajar biasanya
terikat pada turutan pengajaran dan bahan-bahan pembelajaran yang sama. Salah satu
cara digunakan untuk menangani masalah ini ialah mengindividukan pengajaran dengan
menggunakan modul pengajaran kendiri (MPK). Kajian ini memperkenalkan
penggunaan MPK sebagai alat bahan bantu mengajar yang berkesan dalam proses
pengajaran dan pembelajaran bagi mata pelajaran Keusahawanan iaitu topik prosedur
penubuhan Syarikat Awam Berhad. Responden terdiri daripada 36 orang pelajar
semester enam, Diploma Akauntansi di POLIMAS. Objektif kajian adalah menghasilkan
MPK yang dapat meningkatkan pemahaman pelajar serta mengenalpasti
kebolehlaksanaannya daripada aspek pemahaman, isi kandungan, sifat mesra pengguna
dan aktiviti pembelajarannya. Selain itu, mengenalpasti sama ada terdapat perbezaan
pencapaian pelajar sebelum dan selepas menggunakan MPK tersebut. Satu kajian
eksperimental telah dijalankan. Set soalan pra-ujian, pos-ujian dan set soal selidik
merupakan instrumen yang telah digunakan di dalam kajian ini. Hasil dapatan kajian
menunjukkan respon responden adalah positif atau setuju terhadap kebolehlaksanaan
MPK tersebut. Prestasi pencapaian pelajar telah meningkatkan selepas menggunakan
MPK tersebut. Ini terbukti, apabila pos-ujian dijalankan menunjukkan peningkatan
berbanding pra-ujian. Analisis Ujian T juga mendapati wujud perbezaan yang signifikan
antara min markah pra-ujian dengan pos-ujian. Ini membuktikan bahawa MPK yang
dihasilkan adalah sesuai digunakan sebagai bahan pengajaran dan pembelajaran masa
kini
