Fuzzy-rough set and fuzzy ID3 decision approaches to knowledge discovery in datasets
Fuzzy rough sets are the generalization of traditional rough sets to deal with both fuzziness and vagueness in data. The existing researches on fuzzy rough sets mainly concentrate on the construction of approximation operators. Less effort has been put on the knowledge discovery in datasets with fuzzy rough sets. This paper mainly focuses on knowledge discovery in datasets with fuzzy rough sets. After analyzing the previous works on knowledge discovery with fuzzy rough sets, we introduce formal concepts of attribute reduction with fuzzy rough sets and completely study the structure of attribute reduction
Adaptive Bloom filter
A Bloom filter is a simple randomized data structure that answers membership query with no false negative and a small false positive probability. It is an elegant data compression technique for membership information, and has broad applications. In this paper, we generalize the traditional Bloom filter to Adaptive Bloom Filter, which incorporates the information on the query frequencies and the membership likelihood of the elements into its optimal design. It has been widely observed that in many applications, some popular elements are queried much more often than the others. The traditional Bloom filter for data sets with irregular query patterns and non-uniform membership likelihood can be further optimized. We derive the optimal configuration of the Bloom filter with query-frequency and membership-likelihood information, and show that the adapted Bloom filter always outperforms the traditional Bloom filter. Under reasonable frequency models such as the step distribution or the Zipf's distribution, the improvement of the false positive probability of the adaptive Bloom filter over that of the traditional Bloom filter is usually of orders of magnitude
Bipolar quadripartitioned single valued neutrosophic rough set
Here bipolar quadripartitioned single valued neutrosophic rough (BQSVNR) set is introduced. Some
basic set theoretic terminologies like constant BQSVNR set, subsethood of two BQSVNR sets are shown.
Algebraic operations like union, intersection and complement have also been dened. Dierent types of measure
like similarity measure, quasi similarity measure and distance measures between two BQSVNR sets have been
discussed with their properties. Again various measures of similarity namely distance based similarity measure,
cosine similarity measure, membership function based similarity measure are introduced in this paper. A
medical diagonasis problem has been solved using similarity measure at the end
Ant Colony Optimization of Rough Set for HV Bushings Fault Detection
Most transformer failures are attributed to bushings failures. Hence it is
necessary to monitor the condition of bushings. In this paper three methods are
developed to monitor the condition of oil filled bushing. Multi-layer
perceptron (MLP), Radial basis function (RBF) and Rough Set (RS) models are
developed and combined through majority voting to form a committee. The MLP
performs better that the RBF and the RS is terms of classification accuracy.
The RBF is the fasted to train. The committee performs better than the
individual models. The diversity of models is measured to evaluate their
similarity when used in the committee.Comment: Fourth International Workshop on Advanced Computational Intelligence

Informational Paradigm, management of uncertainty and theoretical formalisms in the clustering framework: A review
Fifty years have gone by since the publication of the first paper on clustering based on fuzzy sets theory. In 1965, L.A. Zadeh had published “Fuzzy Sets” [335]. After only one year, the first effects of this seminal paper began to emerge, with the pioneering paper on clustering by Bellman, Kalaba, Zadeh [33], in which they proposed a prototypal of clustering algorithm based on the fuzzy sets theory
Quantification of R-Fuzzy sets
The main aim of this paper is to connect R-Fuzzy sets and type-2 fuzzy sets, so as to provide a practical means to express complex uncertainty without the associated difficulty of a type-2 fuzzy set. The paper puts forward a significance measure, to provide a means for understanding the importance of the membership values contained within an R-fuzzy set. The pairing of an R-fuzzy set and the significance measure allows for an intermediary approach to that of a type-2 fuzzy set. By inspecting the returned significance degree of a particular membership value, one is able to ascertain its true significance in relation, relative to other encapsulated membership values. An R-fuzzy set coupled with the proposed significance measure allows for a type-2 fuzzy equivalence, an intermediary, all the while retaining the underlying sentiment of individual and general perspectives, and with the adage of a significantly reduced computational burden. Several human based perception examples are presented, wherein the significance degree is implemented, from which a higher level of detail can be garnered. The results demonstrate that the proposed research method combines the high capacity in uncertainty representation of type-2 fuzzy sets, together with the simplicity and objectiveness of type-1 fuzzy sets. This in turn provides a practical means for problem domains where a type-2 fuzzy set is preferred but difficult to construct due to the subjective type-2 fuzzy membership
