Interaktion mit Geodaten an einem Multitouchfähigen taktilen Hyperglobus

Die „Hyperglobe Research Group“ (HRG) des Instituts für Geographie und Regionalforschung an der Universität Wien forscht seit 2005 im Bereich der taktilen Hypergloben (THG). Sie hat sich zum Ziel gesetzt vor allem durch die Entwicklung von spezialisierter Software diese Nachfolger der traditionellen, analogen Globen zu Instrumenten der Wissensvermittlung für globale Sachverhalte weiter zu entwickeln. In dieser Diplomarbeit wird untersucht, auf welche Weise ein solcher digitaler Globus zu einem berührungsempfindlichen Eingabegerät erweitert werden kann und welche Möglichkeiten sich dadurch für das Design neuer Bedienkonzepte ergeben.Da eine solche Erweiterung der Funktionalität Veränderungen an der Hardware eines Globus voraussetzt, werden nach einer Einführung in die unterschiedlichen Arten der Hypergloben die gängigsten Touchscreen-Technologien vorgestellt und ihre Eignung für den Einsatz an einem THG bewertet. Im Hauptteil der Arbeit werden die Vorgehensweise und die Ergebnisse bei der Konstruktion eines Prototyps vorgestellt. Dieser basiert auf dem am Institut vorhandenen THG, der mit einem auf Infrarotlicht-basierendem System zur Erkennung von Berührungen ausgerüstet wurde. Zusätzlich wird die Entwicklung und Funktion der dafür erforderlichen Software beschrieben und das Potential dieses Bedienkonzepts untersucht.Since 2005 the `Hyperglobe Research Group´ (HRG), located at the University of Vienna, works in the field of tactile Hyperglobes. Its primarily goal is to develop this successor to the traditional analog globes to become an instrument for imparting knowledge about global topics. To achieve this goal the HRG focuses on the development of highly specialized software. This thesis examines how such a digital globe can be expanded into a touch sensitive device and what opportunities this entails for the design of new concepts of operations.Since such an extension of the functionality requires changes to the hardware of a globe, the current touchscreen technologies are presented and rated after an introduction to the different types of Hyperglobes. The main part of the thesis depicts the procedures and results during the construction of a prototype. This prototype is based on the available Hyperglobe at the institute, which was equipped with an infrared light based system for touch detection. Moreover, the development and the functionality of the required software is described, as well as the potential of this concept of operations

Der vorliegende Interne Bericht enthält die Beiträge zum Seminar "Netzwerk-Management und Hochgeschwindigkeits- Kommunikation, das im Wintersemester 1997/98 zum siebzehnten Mal stattgefunden hat. Die Themenauswahl kann grob in folgende Blöcke gegliedert werden: Ein Block beschäftigt sich mit drahtlosen Kommunikations- protokollen. Der erste Beitrag widmet sich drahtlosem ATM, während ein zweiter Beitrag Möglichkeiten der Satelliten- kommunikation vorstellt. Außerdem werden Sicherheitsaspekte im GSM diskutiert. Ein Beitrag stellt das Transis-System zur zuverlässigen, geordneten Gruppenkommunikation über IP vor. Ein dritter Block präsentiert Möglichkeiten der Unterstützung schneller Kommunikation. Hier werden etwa die sogenannten xDSL-Techniken vorgestellt. Außerdem wird der Firewire-Ansatz konventionellen Bussystemen in Rechnern gegenübergestellt. Schließlich widmen sich zwei Beiträge neuartigen Konzepten im Betriebssystem-Bereich, welche eine Kommunikationsunter- stützung versprechen. Ein Block mit dem Schwerpunkt auf neuen Netzkonzepten geht in zwei Beiträgen auf sogenannte Aktive Netzwerke ein. Außerdem wird das in den USA betriebene Internet2 vorgestellt. Ein letzter Block befaßt sich mit Fragen des Managements. Hier stehen die DISMAN- und die SNMPv3-Arbeitsgruppe im Vordergrund. Nachhaltigkeitsorientierte Analyse von Wertschöpfungsnetzwerken am Beispiel Kameruns: Ein Beitrag zur nachhaltigen Integration Kameruns in die Weltwirtschaft

The present work deals with the issue of business logistic and production management. This topic is of great interest in the context of discussions on sustainable strategies of globally acting enterprises or enterprise networks as well as states and regional authorities. It is a rethinking of value added networks and the assignment of supply chain processes, for example in the framework of a distributed production to geographical locations. The choice of Cameroon as study area is justified on the one hand by its geographical location, on the other hand by its great potential of raw materials and despite or even because of its characteristics as a developing Country. The work is divided into seven chapters and includes an extensive list of references. The information basis necessary for this work was obtained, in addition to literature review, through own interviews in Germany and in Cameroon as well as temporary collaboration in German-Cameroonian DAAD-Project for the intensification of logistic understanding and logistic education in Cameroon. This was followed by the comparative analysis in order to make a correlation between different cases and circumstances, and subsequently to propose a solution. In addition, a SWOT analysis was performed. It is an evaluation method for detecting strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and risks. Finally, models were developed in order to solve the problem in the reality with illustrations. In the context of current scientific discussion in the operational logistics and transportation industry as well as the production management under consideration of the relevance of the sustainability-related inclusions of developing countries in international value added networks, four essential results were worked out. These results are related to a sustainability-driven redesign of the value chains for a sustainable integration into the world economy of a developing country as Cameroon. Four action recommendations are derived from these results for increasing the production and regional service attractiveness. Particularly noteworthy are the considerations for sustainability-driven redesign of the value chains in the agra-tech sector and in the high-tech sector. In the context of a Cameroonian proverb that says: When elephants fight against hippopotamus, small animals should worry for their lives! , the entire work appears as a new analysis of business logistics, transport and production industry, taking into account the importance of sustainability with the inclusion of developing countries in international value-added networks

Technologien für die Energiewende - Technologiebericht Band 1: Teilbericht 2 zum Teilprojekt A im Rahmen des strategischen BMWi-Leitprojekts "Trends und Perspektiven der Energieforschung"

Der Teilbericht 2 enthält alle 31 Technologieberichte, die im Forschungsvorhaben "Technologien für die Energiewende" erstellt wurden. Für jedes Technologiefeld wird der Entwicklungsstatus und der Bedarf an Forschung und Entwicklung dargestellt. Die Bewertung erfolgte mittels 12 Bewertungskriterien, die nach dem klimapolitischen und energiewirtschaftlichen Beitrag der jeweiligen Technologien fragen, die Positionierung deutscher Unternehmen im internationalen Kontext betrachten sowie die Systemkompatibilität bewerten. Hinzu kommen Aspekte der gesellschaftlichen Akzeptanz sowie des Standes von F&E im internationalen Vergleich.
