Comparación de técnicas de clasificación deductivas para estimar la distribución potencial de insectos cuarentenarios
El objetivo de este trabajo fue comparar el desempeño de los criterios de clasificación nÃtidos y difusos en la construcción de modelos deductivos de la distribución potencial de insectos exóticos. Considerando criterios de clasificación binaria nÃtida y difusa, de capas ráster de temperatura máxima, media y mÃnima diaria, se generó un Ãndice de riesgo bioclimático relativo, considerando el número de dÃas con condiciones óptimas para el desarrollo de Bactrocera oleae (Gmelin) (Diptera: Tephritidae) y Cerotoma arcuatus (Olivier) (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae). Se realizaron análisis de sensibilidad de los modelos. Los modelos deductivos de distribución potencial de especies realizados mediante clasificación difusa, serÃan más robustos y menos restrictivos en la determinación de áreas de riesgo fitosanitario potencial que aquellos realizados con criterios de clasificación nÃtidos. Estos últimos serÃan más sensibles y tendrÃan mayor capacidad de discriminar áreas con diferentes perfiles de riesgo ambiental.The objective of this paper was to evaluate the performance of crisp and fuzzy classification criteria in the construction of deductive potential distribution models of exotic insects. As case studies, Bactrocera oleae (Gmelin) (Diptera: Tephritidae) and Cerotoma arcuatus (Olivier) (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae) were selected. Considering crisp and fuzzy classification for raster layers of maximum, average and minimum daily temperature, a relative bioclimatic risk index was generated. The number of days with optimal conditions for pests’ development was considered. Sensitivity analyses of both models were performed. Considering each case evaluated and the variables used, deductive pest distribution models made by fuzzy classification was more robust and less conservative in the determination of potential phytosanitary risk areas than those made with crisp classification criteria. For most Eastern European countries that experienced former communist regimes, the EU accession and the use of European symbols – such as the EURO currency – represents both the integration into a strong and efficient economic system, but also the guarantee of a system based on real democratic values. Romania has been the first of this category of states, that has expressed the real and strong attachment for the European Union, its symbols and values. This paper wishes to analyze the key elements concerning Romania’s accession to the EMU and finally the EURO adoption: Romania’s actual macroeconomic situation, the situation of the real and nominal convergence to the accession criteria – in a fuzzy clustering approach in order to determine optimum sequencing of the Euro adoption and the envisaged official calendar for the EURO adoption

A heuristic information retrieval study : an investigation of methods for enhanced searching of distributed data objects exploiting bidirectional relevance feedback
A thesis submitted for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy of the University of LutonThe primary aim of this research is to investigate methods of improving the effectiveness of current information retrieval systems. This aim can be achieved by accomplishing numerous supporting objectives.
A foundational objective is to introduce a novel bidirectional, symmetrical fuzzy logic theory which may prove valuable to information retrieval, including internet searches of distributed data objects. A further objective is to design, implement and apply the novel theory to an experimental information retrieval system called ANACALYPSE, which automatically computes the relevance of a large number of unseen documents from expert relevance feedback on a small number of documents read.
A further objective is to define a methodology used in this work as an experimental information retrieval framework consisting of multiple tables including various formulae which anow a plethora of syntheses of similarity functions, ternl weights, relative term frequencies, document weights, bidirectional relevance feedback and history adjusted term weights.
The evaluation of bidirectional relevance feedback reveals a better correspondence between system ranking of documents and users' preferences than feedback free system ranking. The assessment of similarity functions reveals that the Cosine and Jaccard functions perform significantly better than the DotProduct and Overlap functions. The evaluation of history tracking of the documents visited from a root page reveals better system ranking of documents than tracking free information retrieval. The assessment of stemming reveals that system information retrieval performance remains unaffected, while stop word removal does not appear to be beneficial and can sometimes be harmful. The overall evaluation of the experimental information retrieval system in comparison to a leading edge commercial information retrieval system and also in comparison to the expert's golden standard of judged relevance according to established statistical correlation methods reveal enhanced system information retrieval effectiveness

Determining Feasibility Resilience: Set Based Design Iteration Evaluation Through Permutation Stability Analysis
The goal of robust design is to select a design that will still perform satisfactorily even with unexpected variation in design parameters. A resilient design will accommodate unanticipated future system requirements. Through studying the variations of system parameters through the use of multi objective optimization, a designer hopes to locate a robustly resilient design, which performs current mission well even with varying system parameters and is able to be easily repurposed to new missions. This ability to withstand changes is critical because it is common for the product of a design to undergo changes throughout its life cycle. This subject has been an active area of research in industrial design and systems engineering but most methodologies rest upon exhaustive understanding of design, manufacturing and mission variance. The thrust of this research is to develop new methodologies for estimating robust resilience given imperfect information. In this work we will apply new methodologies for locating resilient designs within a dataset derive from a study performed by the Small Surface Combatant Task Force in order to improve upon a state of the art design process. Two new methodologies, permutation stability analysis and mutation stability analysis, are presented along with results and discussion as applied to the SSCTF dataset. It is demonstrated that these new methods improve upon the state of the art by providing insight into the robustness and resilience of selected system properties. These methodologies, although applied to the SSCTF dataset are posed more generally for wider application in system design
AN INTEGRATED FRAMEWORK FOR QUALITY EVALUATION OF FRUITS AND VEGETABLE STORE LOCATED IN THE SUPERMARKET UNDER UTOPIAN ENVIRONMENT
Customer satisfaction depends on the availability of different varieties of fruits and vegetables in a supermarket store as well as the quality of this supermarket store for fruits and vegetables. The store may contain different variety of fruits and vegetables in a utopian environment. Apart from this, there are several quality parameters of a fruits and vegetable store. The quality evaluation of fruits and vegetable stores located in a supermarket is a big challenge for managerial personnel. Here, a quality evaluation framework is proposed for the fruits and vegetable store. The committee of experts identifies and finalizes the quality evaluation parameters through a brainstorming session. Fuzzy AHP is used to calculate the weights of evaluation parameters. A fuzzy TOPSIS generally ranks for the alternative stores. An improved fuzzy TOPSIS, which is named fuzzy k-TOPSIS, is proposed here to evaluate the quality of fruits and vegetable stores located in a supermarket. The fuzzy k-TOPSIS will provide rank as well as classification of the alternatives. A numerical example is demonstrated for a better understanding of the proposed framework
