Representing fuzzy decision tables in a fuzzy relational database environment.
In this paper the representation of decision tables in a relational database environment is discussed. First, crisp decision tables are defined. Afterwards a technique to represent decision tables in a relational system is presented. Next, fuzzy extensions are made to crisp decision tables in order to deal with imprecision and uncertainty. As a result, with crisp decision tables as special cases fuzzy decision tables are defined which include fuzziness in the conditions as well as in the actions. Analogous to the crisp case, it is demonstrated how fuzzy decision tables can be stored in a fuzzy relational database environment. Furthermore, consultation of these tables is discussed using fuzzy queries.Decision making;
Implementing imperfect information in fuzzy databases
Information in real-world applications is often
vague, imprecise and uncertain. Ignoring the inherent imperfect
nature of real-world will undoubtedly introduce some deformation of human perception of real-world and may eliminate several
substantial information, which may be very useful in several
data-intensive applications. In database context, several fuzzy
database models have been proposed. In these works, fuzziness
is introduced at different levels. Common to all these proposals is
the support of fuzziness at the attribute level. This paper proposes
first a rich set of data types devoted to model the different kinds
of imperfect information. The paper then proposes a formal
approach to implement these data types. The proposed approach
was implemented within a relational object database model but it
is generic enough to be incorporated into other database models.ou
Towards Intelligent Databases
This article is a presentation of the objectives and techniques
of deductive databases. The deductive approach to databases aims at extending
with intensional definitions other database paradigms that describe
applications extensionaUy. We first show how constructive specifications can
be expressed with deduction rules, and how normative conditions can be defined
using integrity constraints. We outline the principles of bottom-up and
top-down query answering procedures and present the techniques used for
integrity checking. We then argue that it is often desirable to manage with
a database system not only database applications, but also specifications of
system components. We present such meta-level specifications and discuss
their advantages over conventional approaches
An Intelligent Knowledge Management System from a Semantic Perspective
Abstract. Knowledge Management Systems (KMS) are important tools by which organizations can better use information and, more importantly, manage knowledge. Unlike other strategies, knowledge management (KM) is difficult to define because it encompasses a range of concepts, management tasks, technologies, and organizational practices, all of which come under the umbrella of the information management. Semantic approaches allow easier and more efficient training, maintenance, and support knowledge. Current ICT markets are dominated by relational databases and document-centric information technologies, procedural algorithmic programming paradigms, and stack architecture. A key driver of global economic expansion in the coming decade is the build-out of broadband telecommunications and the deployment of intelligent services bundling. This paper introduces the main characteristics of an Intelligent Knowledge Management System as a multiagent system used in a Learning Control Problem (IKMSLCP), from a semantic perspective. We describe an intelligent KM framework, allowing the observer (a human agent) to learn from experience. This framework makes the system dynamic (flexible and adaptable) so it evolves, guaranteeing high levels of stability when performing his domain problem P.
