GENETIC FUZZY FILTER BASED ON MAD AND ROAD TO REMOVE MIXED IMPULSE NOISE
In this thesis, a genetic fuzzy image filtering based on rank-ordered absolute
differences (ROAD) and median of the absolute deviations from the median (MAD) is
proposed. The proposed method consists of three components, including fuzzy noise
detection system, fuzzy switching scheme filtering, and fuzzy parameters
optimization using genetic algorithms (GA) to perform efficient and effective noise
removal. Our idea is to utilize MAD and ROAD as measures of noise probability of a
pixel. Fuzzy inference system is used to justify the degree of which a pixel can be
categorized as noisy. Based on the fuzzy inference result, the fuzzy switching scheme
that adopts median filter as the main estimator is applied to the filtering. The GA
training aims to find the best parameters for the fuzzy sets in the fuzzy noise
detection.
From the experimental results, the proposed method has successfully removed
mixed impulse noise in low to medium probabilities, while keeping the uncorrupted
pixels less affected by the median filtering. It also surpasses the other methods, either
classical or soft computing-based approaches to impulse noise removal, in MAE and
PSNR evaluations. It can also remove salt-and-pepper and uniform impulse noise

Fuzzy metrics and fuzzy logic for colour image filtering
Impulse Noise Removal Using Soft-computing
Image restoration has become a powerful domain now a days. In numerous real life applications Image restoration is important field because where image quality matters it existed like astronomical imaging, defense application, medical imaging and security systems. In real life applications normally image quality disturbed due to image acquisition problems like satellite system images cannot get statically as source and object both moving so noise occurring. Image restoration process involves to deal with that corrupted image. Degradation model used to train filtering techniques for both detection and removal of noise phase. This degeneration is usually the result of excess scar or noise. Standard impulse noise injection techniques are used for standard images. Early noise removal techniques perform better for simple kind of noise but have some deficiencies somewhere in sense of detection or removal process, so our focus is on soft computing techniques non classic algorithmic approach and using (ANN) artificial neural networks. These Fuzzy rules-based techniques performs better than traditional filtering techniques in sense of edge preservation
DeeperCut: A Deeper, Stronger, and Faster Multi-Person Pose Estimation Model
The goal of this paper is to advance the state-of-the-art of articulated pose
estimation in scenes with multiple people. To that end we contribute on three
fronts. We propose (1) improved body part detectors that generate effective
bottom-up proposals for body parts; (2) novel image-conditioned pairwise terms
that allow to assemble the proposals into a variable number of consistent body
part configurations; and (3) an incremental optimization strategy that explores
the search space more efficiently thus leading both to better performance and
significant speed-up factors. Evaluation is done on two single-person and two
multi-person pose estimation benchmarks. The proposed approach significantly
outperforms best known multi-person pose estimation results while demonstrating
competitive performance on the task of single person pose estimation. Models

Edge-adaptive spatial video de-interlacing algorithms based on fuzzy logic
Since the human visual system is especially sensitive to image edges, edge-dependent spatial interpolators have
been proposed in literature as a means of successfully restoring edges while avoiding the staircase effect of linear spatial
algorithms. This paper addresses the application of video de-interlacing, which constitutes an indispensable stage in video
format conversion. Classic edge-adaptive de-interlacing algorithms introduce annoying artifacts when the edge directions are
evaluated incorrectly. This paper presents two ways of exploiting fuzzy reasoning to reinforce edges without an excessive
increase in computational complexity. The performance of the proposed algorithms is analyzed by de-interlacing a wide set of
test sequences. The study compares the two proposals both with each other and with other edge-adaptive de-interlacing methods

A Novel Retinal Blood Vessel Segmentation Algorithm using Fuzzy segmentation
Assessment of blood vessels in retinal images is an important factor for many medical disorders. The changes in the retinal vessels due to the pathologies can be easily identified by segmenting the retinal vessels. Segmentation of retinal vessels is done to identify the early diagnosis of the disease like glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, hypertensive retinopathy and arteriosclerosis. In this paper, we propose an automatic blood vessel segmentation method. The proposed algorithm starts with the extraction of blood vessel centerline pixels. The final segmentation is obtained using an iterative region growing method that merges the binary images resulting from centerline detection part with the image resulting from fuzzy vessel segmentation part. In this proposed algorithm, the blood vessel is enhanced using modified morphological operations and the salt and pepper noises are removed from retinal images using Adaptive Fuzzy Switching Median filter. This method is applied on two publicly available databases, the DRIVE and the STARE and the experimental results obtained by using green channel images have been presented and compared with recently published methods. The results demonstrate that our algorithm is very effective method to detect retinal blood vessels.DOI:http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/ijece.v4i4.625
Adaptive Marginal Median Filter for Colour Images
This paper describes a new filter for impulse noise reduction in colour images which is aimed at improving the noise reduction capability of the classical vector median filter. The filter is inspired by the application of a vector marginal median filtering process over a selected group of pixels in each filtering window. This selection, which is based on the vector median, along with the application of the marginal median operation constitutes an adaptive process that leads to a more robust filter design. Also, the proposed method is able to process colour images without introducing colour artifacts. Experimental results show that the images filtered with the proposed method contain less noisy pixels than those obtained through the vector median filter

On the importance of metrics in practical applications
[EN] Students motivation for learning mathematical concepts can be increased when showing the usefulness of these concepts in practical problems. One important mathematical concept is the concept of metric space and, more related to the applications, the concept of metric function. In this work we aim to illustrate how important is to appropriately choose the metric when dealing with a practical problem. In particular, we focus on the problem of detection of noisy pixels in colour images. In this context, it is very important to appropriately measure the distances and similarities between the image pixels, which is done by means of an appropriate metric. We study the performance of different metrics, including recent fuzzy metrics, within a specific filter to show that it is indeed a critical choice to appropriately solve the task.Camarena, J.; Morillas, S.; Cisneros, F.
