Purpose. This paper presents an advanced control scheme based on fuzzy logic and second order sliding mode of a unified power flow controller. This controller offers advantages in terms of static and dynamic operation of the power system such as the control law is synthesized using three types of controllers: proportional integral, and sliding mode controller and Fuzzy logic second order sliding mode controller. Their respective performances are compared in terms of reference tracking, sensitivity to perturbations and robustness. We have to study the problem of controlling power in electric system by UPFC. The simulation results show the effectiveness of the proposed method especiallyin chattering-free behavior, response to sudden load variations and robustness. All the simulations for the above work have been carried out using MATLAB / Simulink. Various simulations have given very satisfactory results and we have successfully improved the real and reactive power flows on a transmission lineas well as to regulate voltage at the bus where it is connected, the studies and illustrate the effectiveness and capability of UPFC in improving power.Π’ настоящСй ΡΡ‚Π°Ρ‚ΡŒΠ΅ прСдставлСна ΡƒΡΠΎΠ²Π΅Ρ€ΡˆΠ΅Π½ΡΡ‚Π²ΠΎΠ²Π°Π½Π½Π°Ρ схСма управлСния, основанная Π½Π° Π½Π΅Ρ‡Π΅Ρ‚ΠΊΠΎΠΉ Π»ΠΎΠ³ΠΈΠΊΠ΅ ΠΈ Ρ€Π΅ΠΆΠΈΠΌΠ΅ скольТСния Π²Ρ‚ΠΎΡ€ΠΎΠ³ΠΎ порядка ΡƒΠ½ΠΈΡ„ΠΈΡ†ΠΈΡ€ΠΎΠ²Π°Π½Π½ΠΎΠ³ΠΎ ΠΊΠΎΠ½Ρ‚Ρ€ΠΎΠ»Π»Π΅Ρ€Π° ΠΏΠΎΡ‚ΠΎΠΊΠ° мощности. DTC based on SVM for induction motor sensorless drive with fuzzy sliding mode speed controller

    Get PDF
By using the direct torque control (DTC), robust response in ac drives can be produced. Ripples of currents, torque and flux are oberved in steady state. space vector modulation (SVM) applied in DTC and used for a sensorless induction motor (IM) with fuzzy sliding mode speed controller (FSMSC) is studied in this paper. This control can minimize the torque, flux, current and speed pulsations in steady state. To estimate the rotor speed and stator flux the model reference adaptive system (MRAS) is used that is designed from identified voltages and currents. The FSMSC is used to enhance the efficiency and the robustness of the presented system. The DTC transient advantage are maintained, while better quality steady-state performance is produced in sensorless implementation for a wide speed range. The drive system performances have been checked by using Matlab Simultaion, and successful results have been obtained. It is deduced that the proposed control system produces better results than the classical DTC

Machine Model Based Speed Estimation Schemes for Speed Encoderless Induction Motor Drives: a Survey

Speed Estimation without speed sensors is a complex phenomenon and is overly dependent on the machine parameters. It is all the more significant during low speed or near zero speed operation. There are several approaches to speed estimation of an induction motor. Eventually, they can be classified into two types, namely, estimation based on the machine model and estimation based on magnetic saliency and air gap space harmonics. This paper, through a brief literature survey, attempts to give an overview of the fundamentals and the current trends in various machine model based speed estimation techniques which have occupied and continue to occupy a great amount of research space

A comparative performance analysis based on artificial intelligence techniques applied to three-phase induction motor drives

In this work, we introduced a new robust hybrid control to an induction motor (IM), based on the theory of fuzzy logic and variable structure with sliding-mode control (SMC). As the variations of both control system parameters and operating conditions occur, the conventional control methods may not be satisfied further. Fuzzy tuning schemes are employed to improve control performance and to reduce chattering in the sliding mode. The combination of these two theories has given high performance and fast dynamic response with no overshoot. As it is very robust, it is insensitive to process parameters variation and external disturbances

Performance Analysis of Adaptive Fuzzy Sliding Mode for Nonlinear Control of the Doubly Fed Induction Motor

In this article, we propose a contribution to the control of a doubly fed induction motor by sliding mode with adaptive fuzzy logic. The technique of vector-control by classical field oriented applied to the doubly fed induction motor (DFIM) with mechanical sensors made it possible to have performances comparable with that of the direct current motor. However, it very sensitive to the parametric variations of the machine. The regulation speed by a classical regulator (PI) presents disadvantages: Poor robustness against parametric uncertainties of modeling and no the considering of the disturbances and little degree of freedom for the regulation. Because this effect, several robust controls were proposed in the technical literature to ensure the decoupling of the currents of the DFIM in a reference (d, q) leading to calculate simplified correctors. Among them, the variable structure control by sliding mode. It uses algorithms of regulations which ensure the robustness of the behavior of the process compared to the parametric variations and disturbances. Also, the impact of regulators based on artificial intelligence techniques such as adaptive fuzzy sliding mode controller are studied. In terms of results obtained, good dynamic performance and robustness with respect to load disturbances and parametric variation has been observed

AC motors play a major role in modern industrial applications. Squirrel-cage induction motors (SCIMs) are probably the most frequently used when compared to other AC motors because of their low cost, ruggedness, and low maintenance. The material presented in this book is organized into four sections, covering the applications and structural properties of induction motors (IMs), fault detection and diagnostics, control strategies, and the more recently developed topology based on the multiphase (more than three phases) induction motors. This material should be of specific interest to engineers and researchers who are engaged in the modeling, design, and implementation of control algorithms applied to induction motors and, more generally, to readers broadly interested in nonlinear control, health condition monitoring, and fault diagnosis

Real Time Implementation of Fuzzy Adaptive PI-sliding Mode Controller for Induction Machine Control

In this work, a fuzzy adaptive PI-sliding mode control is proposed for Induction Motor speed control. First, an adaptive PI-sliding mode controller with a proportional plus integral equivalent control action is investigated, in which a simple adaptive algorithm is utilized for generalized soft-switching parameters. The proposed control design uses a fuzzy inference system to overcome the drawbacks of the sliding mode control in terms of high control gains and chattering to form a fuzzy sliding mode controller. The proposed controller has implemented for a 1.5kW three-Phase IM are completely carried out using a dSPACE DS1104 digital signal processor based real-time data acquisition control system, and MATLAB/Simulink environment. Digital experimental results show that the proposed controller can not only attenuate the chattering extent of the adaptive PI-sliding mode controller but can provide high-performance dynamic characteristics with regard to plant external load disturbance and reference variations.

Advanced Fault-Tolerant Control of Induction-Motor Drives for EV/HEV Traction Applications: From Conventional to Modern and Intelligent Control Techniques

    No full text
International audienceThis paper describes active fault-tolerant control systems for a high-performance induction-motor drive that propels an electrical vehicle (EV) or a hybrid one (HEV). The proposed systems adaptively reorganize themselves in the event of sensor loss or sensor recovery to sustain the best control performance, given the complement of remaining sensors. Moreover, the developed systems take into account the controller-transition smoothness, in terms of speed and torque transients. The two proposed fault-tolerant control strategies have been simulated on a 4-kW induction-motor drive, and speed and torque responses have been carried to evaluate the consistency and the performance of the proposed approaches. Simulation results, in terms of speed and torque responses, show the global effectiveness of the proposed approaches, particularly the one based on modern and intelligent control techniques in terms of speed and torque smoothness
