    Publishing and Consuming Semantic Views for Construction of Knowledge Graphs

    The main goal of semantic integration is to provide a virtual semantic view that is semantically connected to data so that applications can have integrated access to data sources through the virtual Knowledge Graph. A semantic view can be published on a semantic portal to make it reusable for building Knowledge Graphs for different applications. This paper takes the first step towards publishing a semantic view on a semantic portal. This paper has three main contributions. First, we introduce a vocabulary for specifying semantic views. Then, we introduce a vocabulary for specification and quality assessment of Knowledge Graph. Third, we describe an approach to automatize the construction of a high-quality Knowledge Graph reusing a semantic view

    Kombineerides erinevaid teenuseid saavad mobiiltelefonid rahuldada paljusid tööstus ja ärivajadusi.Samas tuleb teenuste kombineerimise raames sisu õigesti tuvastamiseks ja tõlgendamiseks avastada ja töödelda suurt hulka andmeid. Kuna ainult ühe seadme kasu-tamine mingi ülesande lahendamiseks ei ole väga efektiivne on ühiste eesmärkide saa-vutamiseks soovitatav tööd mitme seadme vahel jagada. Pakume välja ja arendame üldraamistikku, mis toetab teenustele orienteeritud sisu segunemist ning laialt levinud teenuste loomise integreerimist, mis toimuks Business Process Execution Language (BPEL)-tuginevale kollaboratsioonile. Esitasime kollaboratsioonis seadmetele ressursi-säästliku teisaldamise plaani ja implementeerimise selle proof of concept'ina (kontseptsiooni tõestus). Hinnangu tulemused näitavad, et raamistik toetab kollaboratiivset ülesannete teisaldamise kava, mis vähendab mobiilsete seadete ressursside kasutamist.By composing pervasive services, mobile phones can support various industrial and commercial needs. However, the pervasive services composition involves discovering and processing a large amount of data in order to identify and interpret the content. Due to the limitation of the single device capability, it is advisable to collaborate with other devices via a wireless network to accomplish common goals. In this thesis, we propose and develop a generic framework that supports service-oriented content mashup and integrating pervasive services composition in the Business Process Execution Language (BPEL)-based collaboration. A resource-aware offloading scheme to collaborative devices has been proposed and implemented as a proof of concept. The evaluation results have shown that the framework supports collaborative task-offloading scheme that reduces the resource usage of mobile devices

    Towards automated composition of convergent services: a survey

    A convergent service is defined as a service that exploits the convergence of communication networks and at the same time takes advantage of features of the Web. Nowadays, building up a convergent service is not trivial, because although there are significant approaches that aim to automate the service composition at different levels in the Web and Telecom domains, selecting the most appropriate approach for specific case studies is complex due to the big amount of involved information and the lack of technical considerations. Thus, in this paper, we identify the relevant phases for convergent service composition and explore the existing approaches and their associated technologies for automating each phase. For each technology, the maturity and results are analysed, as well as the elements that must be considered prior to their application in real scenarios. Furthermore, we provide research directions related to the convergent service composition phases

We explain the 5 Mega Trends, and the emergence of Confident Computing and how that is leading to the revolution of the next generation of Human System Interaction version 2.0 and Usability version 2.0.     A semantic context management framework on mobile device

    We present a semantic context management framework named ContextTorrent, which can make various types of context information be semantically searchable and sharable among local and remote context-aware applications. We implement this framework on the Google Android platform with its elegant application support. An open source RDF parser has been extended to effectively get RDF triples from files or over the network. Three embedded database systems were evaluated for storing ontology represented contexts in the resource-constrained mobile devices. We use the FOAF ontology schema and a synthetic data set of up to 2500 records to evaluate the context query and storage performance.     Future Internet as a Driver for Virtualization, Connectivity and Intelligence of Agri-Food Supply Chain Networks

    The food and agribusiness is an important sector in European logistics with a share in the EU road transport of about 20%. One of the main logistic challenges in this sector is to deal with the high dynamics and uncertainty in supply and demand. This paper discusses the opportunities of Future Internet (FI) technologies to addresses the specific demands on information systems for logistics in the food and agribusiness domain. More specifically, it presents a Future Internet (FI) based design for smart agri-food logistic information systems. This design aims to enable new types of efficient and responsive logistics networks with flexible chain-encompassing tracking and tracing systems and decision support based on that information. These systems effectively virtualise the logistics flows from farm to fork, support a timely and error-free exchange of logistics information and provide functionality for intelligent analysis and reporting of exchanged data to enable early warning and advanced forecasting

    Service Composition for IP Smart Object using Realtime Web Protocols: Concept and Research Challenges

    The Internet of Things (IoT) refers to a world-wide network of interconnected physical things using standardized communication protocols. Recent development of Internet Protocol (IP) stacks for resource-constrained devices unveils a possibility for the future IoT based on the stable and scalable IP technology much like today's Internet of computers. One important question remains: how can data and events (denoted as services) introduced by a variety of IP networked things be exchanged and aggregated e ciently in various application domains. Because the true value of IoT lies in the interaction of several services from physical things, answers to this question are essential to support a rapid creation of new IoT smart and ubiquitous applications. The problem is known as service composition. This article explains the practicability of the future full-IP IoT with realtime Web protocols to formally state the problem of service composition for IP smart objects, provides literature review, and discusses its research challenges

    EXPRESS: Resource-oriented and RESTful Semantic Web services

    This thesis investigates an approach that simplifies the development of Semantic Web services (SWS) by removing the need for additional semantic descriptions.The most actively researched approaches to Semantic Web services introduce explicit semantic descriptions of services that are in addition to the existing semantic descriptions of the service domains. This increases their complexity and design overhead. The need for semantically describing the services in such approaches stems from their foundations in service-oriented computing, i.e. the extension of already existing service descriptions. This thesis demonstrates that adopting a resource-oriented approach based on REST will, in contrast to service-oriented approaches, eliminate the need for explicit semantic service descriptions and service vocabularies. This reduces the development efforts while retaining the significant functional capabilities.The approach proposed in this thesis, called EXPRESS (Expressing RESTful Semantic Services), utilises the similarities between REST and the Semantic Web, such as resource realisation, self-describing representations, and uniform interfaces. The semantics of a service is elicited from a resource’s semantic description in the domain ontology and the semantics of the uniform interface, hence eliminating the need for additional semantic descriptions. Moreover, stub-generation is a by-product of the mapping between entities in the domain ontology and resources.EXPRESS was developed to test the feasibility of eliminating explicit service descriptions and service vocabularies or ontologies, to explore the restrictions placed on domain ontologies as a result, to investigate the impact on the semantic quality of the description, and explore the benefits and costs to developers. To achieve this, an online demonstrator that allows users to generate stubs has been developed. In addition, a matchmaking experiment was conducted to show that the descriptions of the services are comparable to OWL-S in terms of their ability to be discovered, while improving the efficiency of discovery. Finally, an expert review was undertaken which provided evidence of EXPRESS’s simplicity and practicality when developing SWS from scratch
