Evaluation of Adaptive FRIFS Method through Several Classification Comparisons
International audienceAn iterative method to select suitable features for pattern recognition context has been proposed (FRIFS). It combines a global feature selection method based on the Choquet integral and a fuzzy linguistic rule classifier. In this paper, enhancements of this method are presented. An automatic step has been added to make it adaptive to process numerous features. The experimental study, made in a wood defect recognition context, is based on several classifier result analysis. They show the relevancy of the remaining set of selected features. The recognition rates are also considered for each class separately, showing the good behavior of the proposed method
GENETIC FUZZY FILTER BASED ON MAD AND ROAD TO REMOVE MIXED IMPULSE NOISE
In this thesis, a genetic fuzzy image filtering based on rank-ordered absolute
differences (ROAD) and median of the absolute deviations from the median (MAD) is
proposed. The proposed method consists of three components, including fuzzy noise
detection system, fuzzy switching scheme filtering, and fuzzy parameters
optimization using genetic algorithms (GA) to perform efficient and effective noise
removal. Our idea is to utilize MAD and ROAD as measures of noise probability of a
pixel. Fuzzy inference system is used to justify the degree of which a pixel can be
categorized as noisy. Based on the fuzzy inference result, the fuzzy switching scheme
that adopts median filter as the main estimator is applied to the filtering. The GA
training aims to find the best parameters for the fuzzy sets in the fuzzy noise
detection.
From the experimental results, the proposed method has successfully removed
mixed impulse noise in low to medium probabilities, while keeping the uncorrupted
pixels less affected by the median filtering. It also surpasses the other methods, either
classical or soft computing-based approaches to impulse noise removal, in MAE and
PSNR evaluations. It can also remove salt-and-pepper and uniform impulse noise

This is the first volume of the Encyclopedia of Neutrosophic Researchers, edited from materials offered by the authors who responded to the editor’s invitation. The authors are listed alphabetically. The introduction contains a short history of neutrosophics, together with links to the main papers and books. Neutrosophic set, neutrosophic logic, neutrosophic probability, neutrosophic statistics, neutrosophic measure, neutrosophic precalculus, neutrosophic calculus and so on are gaining significant attention in solving many real life problems that involve uncertainty, impreciseness, vagueness, incompleteness, inconsistent, and indeterminacy. In the past years the fields of neutrosophics have been extended and applied in various fields, such as: artificial intelligence, data mining, soft computing, decision making in incomplete / indeterminate / inconsistent information systems, image processing, computational modelling, robotics, medical diagnosis, biomedical engineering, investment problems, economic forecasting, social science, humanistic and practical achievements
Representation and fusion of heterogeneous fuzzy information in the 3D space for model-based structural recognition—Application to 3D brain imaging
AbstractWe present a novel approach to model-based pattern recognition where structural information and spatial relationships have a most important role. It is illustrated in the domain of 3D brain structure recognition using an anatomical atlas. Our approach performs segmentation and recognition of the scene simultaneously. The solution of the recognition task is progressive, processing successively different objects, and using different pieces of knowledge about the object and about relationships between objects. Therefore, the core of the approach is the knowledge representation part, and constitutes the main contribution of this paper. We make use of a spatial representation of each piece of information, as a spatial fuzzy set representing a constraint to be satisfied by the searched object, thanks in particular to fuzzy mathematical morphology operations. Fusion of these constraints allows us to select, segment and recognize the desired object
