    Research on advanced technologies – design and development of cloud computing model

    This article is a bibliographic review and focuses on a brief introduction to Cloud Computing as an innovative educational tool. Cloud technology is rapidly spreading in educational institutions, sometimes replacing the in-house infrastructure with cloud services. Education plays an important role in a country’s economy and today, the educational model in many countries has evolved with technology. Schools and universities in the world extensively use cloud Based Technology. Digital teaching – E-Learning and cloud-based technology are the latest models that have been widely adopted in the educational field. The identified trends in the use of cloud computing in education are clear, ranging from the design of cloud-oriented learning environments for future information technology specialists to the training of information technology specialists to enable them to obtain competencies in the use of cloud technologies. Cloud computing is a distributed computing paradigm, where, instead of acquiring information technology products, users access shared resources under various service models through a network, usually the Internet. The application of cloud computing is very broad and growing daily because of many advantages to the users, and is driven by the increasing use of various mobile devices (laptops, tablets and smartphones) and mobile Internet access being more available. The perspectives of its integration in the learning process are highlighted, as well as the factors that make its implementation difficult. Finally, some general conclusions presented on how technologies should be adopted to meet the educational needs of this new global challenge and some suggestions are made for more effective training through the Cloud Computing, as the need for further research emerge

    This paper contends that technology changes advance online education.  A number of mobile computing and transformative technologies will be examined and incorporated into a descriptive study.  The object of the study will be to design innovative mobile awareness models seeking to understand technology changes for mobile devices and how they can be used for online learning.  These models will take information from technology vicissitudes, online education systems, along with mobile device literature, and build a picture of past, current, and future trends for online learning.  The application of such an approach should lead to a better definition of mobile awareness requirements and greater online visibility relative to selection of the appropriate model criteria and requirements.  The models will identify online problem definitions, hardware and software advancements, analysis mobile objectives, and the selection of evaluation criteria and requirements to design online mobile awareness.  By using technology vicissitudes, online education systems, and mobile device variables that are found in the literature, models can be designed to achieve awareness for online learning and changing technologies.  These futuristic models can help to identify the appropriate techniques and methods to be used in facilitating the overall effort in future mobile devices for online learning.  Hopefully, seamless technology integration and borderless networks for mobile awareness will motivate and benefit all future online teaching and learning groups

    Conceptualizing a model for Continuance Use of Cloud Computing in Higher Education Institutions

    Resource management optimization is a key concern for educational establishments. Cloud computing as the next generation in computing technology has emerged as the main standard of service and resource delivery. As cloud computing has grown into a mature technology being rapidly adopted in many education institutions across the world, retaining customers of this innovation has become a challenge to the cloud service providers. Current research trends on cloud computing have sought to study the technology’s acceptance or adoption; however, little research attention has been given to the continuance use in an organizational setting. To fill this gap, we established a positivist quantitative-empirical study to investigate the antecedents of cloud continuance use in higher education institutions. Accordingly, drawing on prior literature in organizational-level continuance, this research developed a conceptual model that extends and contextualizes the IS continuance model. We structured our model based on the TOE framework, integrating the established theoretical lenses of the IS success model and the IS discontinuance model to explicate cloud computing continuance use in the context of Higher Education Institutions. To test this model, using a non-probability purposive sampling method, data was collected from the decision-makers of universities that have adopted cloud computing service. We used Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) based on the Partial Least Squares (PLS) to analyze the data. The findings of a preliminary study, conducted through a survey with ICT decision-makers, and based on the proposed conceptual model, indicate that the research instrument is both reliable and valid, and so point the way towards further research. The paper closes with a discussion of the research limitations, contributions, and future directions

    Ubiquitous computing, which was initially advocated by Mark Weiser has become one of the keywords to express a vision of the near future of computing systems. The "ubiquitous world" is a ubiquitous computing environment with integrated networks; computer integrated manufacturing system (CIMS) and invisible computers which equipped sensor microchips and radio frequency identification systems. Anyone can access the ubiquitous computing systems anytime and anywhere broader, without individual awareness or skills. Ubiquitous computing is becoming crucial elements to organize the activities of groups of people by use of groupware under workforce mobility. The computer-supported cooperative work is transforming from telework to ubiquitous work with new information and communication technologies that support people working cooperatively. Ubiquitous learning is a demand for the knowledge workforce for more multi-skilled professionals. It is a new and emerging education and training system that integrating e-learning of cyberspace and mobile learning of physical space with a global repository that has the potential to be accessed by anyone at any place and anytime under ubiquitous integrated computing environment. In this paper, we discuss the study of emerging trends through the implementation of work and learning that influenced ubiquitous computing technology prospects. Furthermore, the perspective of ubiquitous work and learning system, gaining quality, and hence credibility with emerging information and communication technologies in education and training systems in the area of the education system are discussed.     Almost every detail of our lives, where we go, what we do, and with whom is captured as digital data. Technological advancements in cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and data analytics offer the education sector new ways not only to improve policy and processes but also to personalize learning and teaching practice. However, these changes raise fundamental questions around who owns the data, how it might be used, and the consequences of use. The application of Big Data in education can be directed toward a wide range of stakeholders, such as educators, students, policy-makers, institutions, or researchers. It may also have different objectives, such as monitoring, student support, prediction, assessment, feedback, and personalization. This chapter presents the nuances and recent research trends spurred by technological advancements that ave influenced the education sector and highlights the need to look beyond the technical boundaries using a socio-semiotic lens. With the explosion of available information and digital technologies pervading cultural, social, political as well as economic spaces, being a lifelong learner is pivotal for success. However, technology on its own is not sufficient to drive this change. For technology to be successful, it should complement individual learning cultures and education systems. This chapter is broadly divided into two main sections. In the first section, we contemplate a vision for the future, which is deemed possible based on ongoing digital and computing advancements. The second section elaborates the technological, pedagogical, cultural, and political requirements to attain that vision

    A review of the Development Trend of Personalized learning Technologies and its Applications

    Personalized learning tailors material and strategy to student requirements, interests, and goals in e-learning. These developments help educational institutions and other organizations to keep up with the fast pace of information technology, communications, and computing power. Studies show that self-adaptive learning and relevant learning information improve study efficiency. Compared to traditional teaching methods, the practice of online education is well in its infancy. On the other hand, the pedagogy and evaluation of students in online courses have a large gap that has to be filled, necessitating significant improvements in e-learning. We call this approach to education "personalized learning," which is a central focus of today's leading online education platforms. Several studies have been conducted on e-learning and personalized learning, but few investigated the development trend of personalized learning technologies and applications. Therefore this study examines the literature to close the gap and promote the development trend for personalized learning technologies and applications in higher education from 2010 to 2021 by analyzing related journal articles. The pivotal studies used inclusion criteria after a search generated 372 complete research articles and reduced them to 146 publications based on their proposed learning domains and research themes. Through carefully reviewing current trends and successes in numerous aspects of personalized learning, this discussion analyzes prospective future research directions in the field of personalized learning

    Addressing Contending Issues and Embracing Emerging Trends in Library and Information Science Education for Sustainable Development in Nigeria

    The emergence of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) was largely attributed to the inability of many nations to achieve the Millennium Development Goals. This paper identifies unresolved contending issues in Library and Information Science (LIS) education and training in Nigeria, with case for embracing emerging trends, not only for sustainability of LIS schools, but also to contribute positively towards actualization of the SDGs. With specific references to polytechnic-based and university-based LIS schools, the contending issues range from nomenclature, curriculum, infrastructure and human resources. In polytechnic-based LIS schools, many courses need to be merged so as to create avenue for integration of contemporary courses; and possibly develop specializations such as information resources management, knowledge management, records and information management, and publishing and multimedia technologies at the Higher National Diploma (HND) level. For university-based LIS schools, the development of a new programme tagged ‘BSc. Information Science and Media Studies’ by the National Universities Commission (NUC) with curriculum that reflects information management and multimedia technology, may or may not be a threat to LIS education; however, rebranding and repackaging LIS to Information and Knowledge Management in line with global best practices is a way forward. In addition, a case for Master of Knowledge Management (MKM) programme in universities was made in order to address emerging opportunities. The paper concludes that these contending issues need to be addressed, emerging trends embraced, and university-based LIS schools in Nigeria should work towards ensuring that future master degree holders (MLIS graduates) possess practical computing skills in areas of programming, web design, content development, and library management systems
