    Finite-time synchronization of Markovian neural networks with proportional delays and discontinuous activations

    In this paper, finite-time synchronization of neural networks (NNs) with discontinuous activation functions (DAFs), Markovian switching, and proportional delays is studied in the framework of Filippov solution. Since proportional delay is unbounded and different from infinite-time distributed delay and classical finite-time analytical techniques are not applicable anymore, new 1-norm analytical techniques are developed. Controllers with and without the sign function are designed to overcome the effects of the uncertainties induced by Filippov solutions and further synchronize the considered NNs in a finite time. By designing new Lyapunov functionals and using M-matrix method, sufficient conditions are derived to guarantee that the considered NNs realize synchronization in a settling time without introducing any free parameters. It is shown that, though the proportional delay can be unbounded, complete synchronization can still be realized, and the settling time can be explicitly estimated. Moreover, it is discovered that controllers with sign function can reduce the control gains, while controllers without the sign function can overcome chattering phenomenon. Finally, numerical simulations are given to show the effectiveness of theoretical results

    Combined Convex Technique on Delay-Distribution-Dependent Stability for Delayed Neural Networks

    Together with the Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional approach and an improved delay-partitioning idea, one novel sufficient condition is derived to guarantee a class of delayed neural networks to be asymptotically stable in the mean-square sense, in which the probabilistic variable delay and both of delay variation limits can be measured. Through combining the reciprocal convex technique and convex technique one, the criterion is presented via LMIs and its solvability heavily depends on the sizes of both time-delay range and its variations, which can become much less conservative than those present ones by thinning the delay intervals. Finally, it can be demonstrated by four numerical examples that our idea reduces the conservatism more effectively than some earlier reported ones

    A delay-dividing approach to robust stability of uncertain stochastic complex-valued Hopfield delayed neural networks

    In scientific disciplines and other engineering applications, most of the systems refer to uncertainties, because when modeling physical systems the uncertain parameters are unavoidable. In view of this, it is important to investigate dynamical systems with uncertain parameters. In the present study, a delay-dividing approach is devised to study the robust stability issue of uncertain neural networks. Specifically, the uncertain stochastic complex-valued Hopfield neural network (USCVHNN) with time delay is investigated. Here, the uncertainties of the system parameters are norm-bounded. Based on the Lyapunov mathematical approach and homeomorphism principle, the sufficient conditions for the global asymptotic stability of USCVHNN are derived. To perform this derivation, we divide a complex-valued neural network (CVNN) into two parts, namely real and imaginary, using the delay-dividing approach. All the criteria are expressed by exploiting the linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). Based on two examples, we obtain good theoretical results that ascertain the usefulness of the proposed delay-dividing approach for the USCVHNN model

The aim of this Special Issue is to highlight papers that show the dynamics, control, optimization and applications of nonlinear systems. This has recently become an increasingly popular subject, with impressive growth concerning applications in engineering, economics, biology, and medicine, and can be considered a veritable contribution to the literature. Original papers relating to the objective presented above are especially welcome subjects.     Exponential state estimation for competitive neural network via stochastic sampled-data control with packet losses

    This paper investigates the exponential state estimation problem for competitive neural networks via stochastic sampled-data control with packet losses. Based on this strategy, a switched system model is used to describe packet dropouts for the error system. In addition, transmittal delays between neurons are also considered. Instead of the continuous measurement, the sampled measurement is used to estimate the neuron states, and a sampled-data estimator with probabilistic sampling in two sampling periods is proposed. Then the estimator is designed in terms of the solution to a set of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs), which can be solved by using available software. When the missing of control packet occurs, some sufficient conditions are obtained to guarantee that the exponentially stable of the error system by means of constructing an appropriate Lyapunov function and using the average dwell-time technique. Finally, a numerical example is given to show the effectiveness of the proposed method

    Stability Analysis for Stochastic Markovian Jump Reaction-Diffusion Neural Networks with Partially Known Transition Probabilities and Mixed Time Delays

    The stability problem is proposed for a new class of stochastic Markovian jump reaction-diffusion neural networks with partial information on transition probability and mixed time delays. The new stability conditions are established in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). To reduce the conservatism of the stability conditions, an improved Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional and free-connection weighting matrices are introduced. The obtained results are dependent on delays and the measure of the space AND, therefore, have less conservativeness than delay-independent and space-independent ones. An example is given to show the effectiveness of the obtained results
