    The impact of narration, sentiment, and emotional modulation on economic of decision-making: a multidisciplinary study

    The article delves into the interplay between narration, sentiment, and decision-making processes, particularly within the realm of economic choices. Emphasizing the pivotal role of message content, the authors present a hypothesis depicting the profound impact of narration, characters, and sentiment in the communication process. These components wield significant influence over the emotional facets of decision-making, influencing the process or prompting alterations to initial decisions. Critically challenging established economic paradigms, the article underscores the indispensable emotional dimension inherent in communication. Drawing upon the scholarly contributions of eminent figures like Robert J. Shiller, the authors synthesize insights from psychology and neurobiology, unraveling the manipulative essence inherent in narration. In the theoretical section, the article also references Uri Hasson\u27s theories and research on brain synchronization during the communication process. The practical segment of the article substantiates these claims through the presentation of findings from neuropsychological studies. The study confirms the hypothesis that narratives infused with high sentiment resulting from emotional interactions, following a cause-and-effect structure with a visible beginning, development, and end, lead to better synchronization and intensify neuronal responses. The structure, plot shaping, and sentiment in messages, influenced by word choice, shape narrative economy and impact cognitive costs in decision-making. The obtained results confirm that precisely tailored narration effectively reduces cognitive costs associated with the decision-making process. This validates the authors\u27 hypothesis, opening up space for research replication and falsification of the results obtained

    L’INTELLECT INCARNÉ: Sur les interprétations computationnelles, évolutives et philosophiques de la connaissance

    Modern cognitive science cannot be understood without recent developments in computer science, artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, neuroscience, biology, linguistics, and psychology. Classic analytic philosophy as well as traditional AI assumed that all kinds of knowledge must eplicitly be represented by formal or programming languages. This assumption is in contradiction to recent insights into the biology of evolution and developmental psychology of the human organism. Most of our knowledge is implicit and unconscious. It is not formally represented, but embodied knowledge which is learnt by doing and understood by bodily interacting with ecological niches and social environments. That is true not only for low-level skills, but even for high-level domains of categorization, language, and abstract thinking. Embodied cognitive science, AI, and robotics try to build the embodied mind in an artificial evolution. From a philosophical point of view, it is amazing that the new ideas of embodied mind and robotics have deep roots in 20th-century philosophy.Die moderne Kognitionswissenschaft kann nicht verstanden werden ohne Einbeziehung der neuesten Errungenschaften aus der Computerwissenschaft, künstlichen Intelligenz (AI), Robotik, Neurowissenschaft, Biologie, Linguistik und Psychologie. Die klassische analytische Philosophie, wie auch die traditionelle AI, setzten voraus, dass alle Arten des Wissens explizit durch formale oder Programmsprachen dargestellt werden müssen. Diese Annahme steht im Widerspruch zu den rezenten Einsichten in die Evolutionsbiologie und Entwicklungspsychologie des menschlichen Organismus. Der größte Teil unseres Wissens ist implizit und unbewusst. Es ist kein formal repräsentiertes, sondern ein verkörpertes Wissen, das durch Handeln gelernt und durch körperliche Interaktion mit ökologischen Nischen und gesellschaftlichen Umgebungen verstanden wird. Dies gilt nicht nur für niedere Fertigkeiten, sondern auch für höher gestellte Domänen: Kategorisierung, Sprache und abstraktes Denken. Die verkörperte Erkenntniswissenschaft, AI und Robotik versuchen, den verkörperten Geist in einer artifiziellen Evolution zu bilden. Vom philosophischen Standpunkt gesehen ist es erstaunlich, wie tief die neuen Ideen des verkörperten Geistes und der Robotik in der Philosophie des 20. Jahrhunderts verankert sind.La science cognitive moderne ne peut être comprise sans les progrès récents en informatique, intelligence artificielle, robotique, neuroscience, biologie, linguistique et psychologie. La philosophie analytique classique et l’intelligence artificielle traditionnelle présumaient que toutes les sortes de savoir devaient être représentées explicitement par des langages formels ou programmatiques. Cette thèse est en contradiction avec les découvertes récentes en biologie de l’évolution et en psychologie évolutive de l’organisme humain. La majeure partie de notre savoir est implicite et inconsciente. Elle n’est pas représentée formellement, mais constitue un savoir incarné, qui s’acquiert par l’action et se comprend en interaction corporelle avec nos niches écologiques et nos environnements sociaux. Cela n’est pas seulement vrai pour nos aptitudes élémentaires, mais aussi pour nos facultés supérieures de catégorisation, de langage et de pensée abstraite. Science cognitive incarnée, l’intelligence artificielle, ainsi que la robotique, tentent de construire un intellect incarné en évolution artificielle. Du point de vue philosophique, il est admirable de voir à quel point les nouvelles idées d’intellect incarné et de robotique sont ancrées dans la philosophie du XXe siècle

    Interoceptive inference, emotion, and the embodied self

    The concept of the brain as a prediction machine has enjoyed a resurgence in the context of the Bayesian brain and predictive coding approaches within cognitive science. To date, this perspective has been applied primarily to exteroceptive perception (e.g., vision, audition), and action. Here, I describe a predictive, inferential perspective on interoception: ‘interoceptive inference’ conceives of subjective feeling states (emotions) as arising from actively-inferred generative (predictive) models of the causes of interoceptive afferents. The model generalizes ‘appraisal’ theories that view emotions as emerging from cognitive evaluations of physiological changes, and it sheds new light on the neurocognitive mechanisms that underlie the experience of body ownership and conscious selfhood in health and in neuropsychiatric illness

    A Hypothesis of Brain-to-Brain Coupling in Interactive New Media Art and Games Using Brain-Computer Interfaces

    Interactive new media art and games belong to distinctive fields, but nevertheless share common grounds, tools, methodologies, challenges, and goals, such as the use of applications and devices for engaging multiple participants and players, and more recently electroencephalography (EEG)-based brain-computer interfaces (BCIs). At the same time, an increasing number of new neuroscientific studies explore the phenomenon of brain-to-brain coupling, the dynamics and processes of the interaction and synchronisation between multiple subjects and their brain activity. In this context, we discuss interactive works of new media art, computer and serious games that involve the interaction of the brain-activity, and hypothetically brain-to-brain coupling, between multiple performer/s, spectator/s, or participants/players. We also present Enheduanna – A Manifesto of Falling (2015), a new live brain-computer cinema performance, with the use of an experimental passive multi-brain BCI system under development.     Transmission: A telepresence interface for neural and kinetic interaction

    Transmission is both a telepresence performance and a research project. As a real-time visualization tool, Transmission creates alternate representations of neural activity through sound and vision, investigating the effect of interaction on human consciousness. As a sonification project, it creates an immersive experience for two users: a soundscape created by the human mind and the influence of kinetic interaction. An electroencephalographic (EEG) headset interprets a user’s neural activity. An Open Sound Control (OSC) script then translates this data into a real-time particle stream and sound environment at one end. A second user in a remote location modifies this stream in real time through body movement. Together they become a telematic musical interface-communicating through visual and sonic representation of their interactions

    Abstract:Neuroscience in developing students' intellectual intelligence is crucial to know by teachers. The nervous system structure is an aspect that underlies human actions both from cognitive, affective, and psychomotor aspects. This research aimed to find out information related to neuroscience in developing students' intellectual intelligence of Al-Azhar Islamic Primary School Bumi Serpong Damai. This research was qualitative research using a phenomenological approach. The subjects were one principal as a supporting informant, five teachers, and the students of 1 to 6 grades. The data were analyzed to interpret the data into information so that the data's characteristics or properties can be easily understood and useful to answer problems related to research activities. The results showed that neuroscience could grow the students’ attention, develop an active and creative learning model, consider the diversity of brain development of students, develop fun learning stimulation, and create positive emotions.Abstrak:Ilmu saraf dalam mengembangkan kecerdasan intelektual siswa sangat penting untuk diketahui oleh guru. Struktur sistem saraf merupakan aspek yang mendasari tindakan manusia baik dari aspek kognitif, afektif, dan psikomotorik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui informasi yang berkaitan dengan ilmu saraf dalam mengembangkan kecerdasan intelektual siswa di Sekolah Dasar Islam Al-Azhar Bumi Serpong Damai. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan fenomenologi. Subjek penelitian ini adalah satu kepala sekolah sebagai informan pendukung, lima orang guru, dan siswa kelas 1 sd 6. Data dianalisis untuk menginterpretasikan data menjadi informasi sehingga sifat atau sifat data dapat dengan mudah dipahami dan berguna untuk menjawab permasalahan yang berkaitan dengan kegiatan penelitian. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ilmu saraf dapat menumbuhkan perhatian siswa, mengembangkan model pembelajaran yang aktif dan kreatif, mempertimbangkan keberagaman perkembangan otak siswa, mengembangkan stimulasi belajar yang menyenangkan, dan menciptakan emosi yang positif
