    Knowledge management techniques for know-how transfer systems design : the case of an oil company

    This paper presents a research in progress on the use of knowledge engineering and knowledge management techniques for the development of a strategic approach for the transfer of professional know-how. This transfer is based on the design of devices for sharing and learning clearly identified knowledge in the oil industry domains. This work is based on a pilot study which was carried out in the PED department (Petroleum Engineering & Development) and it deals with upstream activity of the oil group Sonatrach. A mapping of this know-how was established using a method based on mapping strategy. The main steps of the current approach are the strategic analysis for required competences, the processes analysis for professional know-how and a cross analysis for strategic competences and critical know-how.     Multi‐layered knowledge‐based architecture of the adaptable distance learning system

    The quality of the distance learning courses is largely influenced by competently prepared educational resources and an effective study support system. One of the possible ways to improve distance learning infrastructure and increase its effectiveness is to extend the architecture of present e‐learning systems by the components for adaptable and sustainable learning. This research work is devoted to developing the service‐oriented distance learning environment adaptable to the user's needs. The proposed adaptable communication environment of distance learning is constructed by integration of new components of communication scenarios generation, adaptable for student's goals, multilayered domain ontology of learning subject and forming intelligent agents’ framework possible. The paper presents the knowledge‐based component architecture of the distance learning system, which enables a better adaptation of learning resources to students. The paper analyses the possibilities of integrating ontology into the e‐learning system. The issues of decomposing ontology into different levels of understanding are discussed in order to adapt to learner's tasks and goals. A conceptual approach is proposed for extending the existing distance learning system architecture by intelligent and deeper knowledge layers. Ieškant priemonių, kaip pagerinti nuotolinių studijų sistemos infrastruktūrą ir padidinti jos darbo efektyvumą, nagrinėjamos galimybės praplėsti tradicinės nuotolinio mokymo sistemos architektūrą komponentėmis, kurios leistų išplėtoti adaptuotą ir darnų mokymosi procesą. Šio tyrimo uždaviniai skirti paslaugoms, skirtoms išvystyti nuotolinio mokymo aplinką. Siekiant sukurti tinkamą kompiuterizuotą bendradarbiavimo aplinką, lanksčiai prisitaikoma prie kintančių vartotojo poreikių studijų procese. Architektūra projektuojama integruojant naujas komponentes bendravimo scenarijams generuoti, daugelio lygių dalykinės srities ontologijai naudoti ir sudarant sąlygas automatizuotam intelektinių agentų bendravimui. Straipsnyje nagrinėjamos galimybės integruoti dalykinės srities ontologiją į tradicinės nuotolinio mokymo sistemos aplinką.     KM and WEB 2.0 methods for project-based learning. MESHAT : a monitoring and experience sharing tool

    Our work aims at studying tools offered to learners and tutors involved in face-to-face or blended project-based learning activities. To understand better the needs and expectations of each actor, we are especially interested in the specific case of project management training. The results of a course observation show that the lack of monitoring and expertise transfer tools involves important dysfunctions in the course organisation and therefore dissatisfaction for tutors and students (in particular about the acquisition of knowledge and expertise). So as to solve this problem, we propose a personalised platform (according to the actor: project group, student or tutor), which gives information to monitor activities and supports the acquisition and transfer of expertise. This platform is based on Knowledge Management (KM) and Web 2.0 concepts to support the dynamic building of knowledge. KM is used to define the learning process (based on the experiential learning theory) and the way the individual knowledge building is monitored (based on metacognitive concepts). Web 2.0 is used to define the way the experience is shared. We make the hypothesis that this approach improves the acquisition of complex skills (e.g. management, communication and collaboration), which requires a behavioural evolution. We aim at making the students become able 'to learn to learn' and evolve according to contexts.     Investigation of relationship between personality characteristics and career management of Melli Bank staff, Iran

    Modern organizations provide their required goods and materials easily from other organizations and even other countries and the only resource that can’t be exchanged ideally is human resources, such that an efficient and standard human resources is the most important competitive capital of a country. According to this, current research aims to explain the relationship between personality characteristics with career management of Melli Bank staff in Iran. Statistical population of this research is all employees of Melli Bank central branches which are located in Tehran city. The number of Melli Bank central branches’ employees is 2603 and the total number of branches is 28 and an appropriate group sampling method is applied. The research method is descriptive-correlation type. For data gathering, two questionnaires of career path based on Shine model and personality characteristics questionnaire were used. The results show that there is a positive significant relation between the variables of emotional stability personality with the regression coefficient of 0.143, compatible personality with the regression coefficient of 0.110, experience- oriented personality mode variable with the regression coefficient of 0.231 and work ethic personality with the regression coefficient of 0.143 and career management of Melli Bank employees. But there is no significant relation between extroversion as one of the personality characteristics and employees’ career management.     Our work aims to study tools offered to students and tutors involved in face-to-face or blended project- based learning activities. Project-based learning is often applied in the case of complex learning (i.e. which aims at making learners acquire various linked skills or develop their behaviours). In comparison to traditional learning, this type of learning relies on co-development, collective responsibility and co-operation. Learners are the principal actors of their learning. These trainings rest on rich and complex organizations, particularly for tutors, and it is difficult to apply innovative educational strategies. Our aim, in a bottom-up approach, is (1) to observe, according to Knowledge Management methods, a course characterized by these three criteria. The observed course concerns project management learning. Its observation allows us (2) to highlight and to analyze the problems encountered by the actors (students, tutors, designers) and (3) to propose tools to solve or improve them. We particularly study the relevance and the limits of the existing monitoring and experience sharing tools. We finally propose a result in the form of the tool MEShaT (Monitoring and Experience Sharing Tool) and end on the perspectives offered by these researches.Comment: 8
