    Intralogistics is increasingly a matter of research and development as a form of optimization, automation, integration and management of the flow of materials and information that circulate within a business unit. With a strong connection to material handling equipment and automation solutions, intralogistics has proved to be one of the main factors responsible for something that is already happening: a fourth industrial revolution where it is possible to convert warehouses and manufacturing units into intelligent environments where the entire process can be controlled and supervised through a single system. It became necessary to develop more and more innovative and efficient solutions to the constant diversity of challenges proposed by the market. In this sense, it was proposed to develop something innovative within the area of Automated Storage and Retrieval Systems (AS/RS), a technology increasingly sought after by today's manufacturing plants. As such, the goal was to improve the most emergent AS/RS in recent years: the Pallet/Box Shuttle AS/RS. In order to achieve the proposed objective, it was necessary to analyze all the existing solutions in the market and, principally, to find the main points to be improved and the direction to follow in order to innovate an already advanced solution. The results show a robotized solution where it was possible to increase the automation of the operations in the storage systems and improve the responsiveness of the system, taking this solution to a new level.A intralogística é cada vez mais uma área de investigação e desenvolvimento como uma forma de otimização, automação, integração e gestão do fluxo de materiais e informações que circulam dentro de uma unidade de negócios. Com uma forte ligação com equipamentos de manipulação de materiais e soluções de automação, a intralogística provou ser um dos principais fatores responsáveis por algo que já está a acontecer: uma quarta revolução industrial, onde é possível converter armazéns e unidades fabris em ambientes inteligentes, onde todo o processo pode ser controlado e supervisionado através de um único sistema. Tornou-se necessário desenvolver soluções cada vez mais inovadoras e eficientes para a constante diversidade de desafios propostos pelo mercado. Nesse sentido, propôs-se desenvolver algo inovador dentro da área dos Armazéns Automáticos, uma solução cada vez mais procurada pelas unidades fabris de hoje. Como tal, estabeleceu-se o objetivo de melhorar o tipo de Armazém Automático mais emergente dos últimos anos: o Armazém Automático com Veículos Satélite para Caixas ou Paletes. Para alcançar o objetivo proposto, foi necessário analisar todas as soluções existentes no mercado e, principalmente, encontrar os principais pontos a serem aprimorados e definir a direção a seguir para se inovar uma solução já avançada. Os resultados obtidos apresentam uma solução robotizada onde foi possível aumentar a automatização das operações dos sistemas de armazenamento e melhorar a capacidade de resposta do sistema, levando esta solução para um novo patamar

    Time Localization of Abrupt Changes in Cutting Process using Hilbert Huang Transform

    Cutting process is extremely dynamical process influenced by different phenomena such as chip formation, dynamical responses and condition of machining system elements. Different phenomena in cutting zone have signatures in different frequency bands in signal acquired during process monitoring. The time localization of signal’s frequency content is very important. An emerging technique for simultaneous analysis of the signal in time and frequency domain that can be used for time localization of frequency is Hilbert Huang Transform (HHT). It is based on empirical mode decomposition (EMD) of the signal into intrinsic mode functions (IMFs) as simple oscillatory modes. IMFs obtained using EMD can be processed using Hilbert Transform and instantaneous frequency of the signal can be computed. This paper gives a methodology for time localization of cutting process stop during intermittent turning. Cutting process stop leads to abrupt changes in acquired signal correlated to certain frequency band. The frequency band related to abrupt changes is localized in time using HHT. The potentials and limitations of HHT application in machining process monitoring are shown

    ICMR2013 was organised by Cranfield University on the 19-20 September 2013. The conference focuses on any aspects of product development, manufacturing technology, manufacturing systems, information systems and digital technologies. It provides an excellent avenue for researchers to present state-of-the-art multidisciplinary manufacturing research and exchange ideas. In addition to the four keynote speeches from Airbus and Rolls-Royce and three invited presentations, there are 108 papers in these proceedings. These papers are split into 24 technical sessions. The International Conference on Manufacturing Research is a major event for academics and industrialists engaged in manufacturing research. Held annually in the UK since the late 1970s, the conference is renowned as a friendly and inclusive environment that brings together a broad community of researchers who share a common goal; developing and managing the technologies and operations that are key to sustaining the success of manufacturing businesses. For over two decades, ICMR has been the main manufacturing research conference organised in the UK, successfully bringing researchers, academics and industrialists together to share their knowledge and experiences. Initiated a National Conference by the Consortium of UK University Manufacturing Engineering Heads (COMEH), it became an International Conference in 2003. COMEH is an independent body established in 1978. Its main aim is to promote manufacturing engineering education, training and research. To achieve this, the Consortium maintains a close liaison with government bodies concerned with the training and continuing development of professional engineers, while responding to the appropriate consultative and discussion documents and other initiatives.     Part 1: Simulation, Optimization, Monitoring and Control TechnologyInternational audienceIn this paper the mechanical analysis of the film picking forks roller tooth in field -cleaning machine was done. A finite element analysis model was built and used by the non-linear finite element analysis method. It is obtained from the result of post-processing calculation and analysis that according to the Fourth Strength Theory, the maximum equivalent stress on the pole tooth root under the uniform load. Root strength should be strengthened to ensure the evenly stress overall the pole tooth, because pole tooth root department would be deformed easily. And the largest stress is at the end of pole tooth and decreases gradually from end to root, and deformation is also the same. Based on the analysis of strength and rigidity, the bearing forces and deformation of the film picking forks roller tooth in work were predicted and validated. It was found that the finite element analysis and the result of test were well coincided. The reliable tool was provided for the design of the film picking forks roller tooth by the finite element analysis. The Roller tooth was designed and improved according to the requirement of deformation and operation

    The Advanced Design Program (ADP) is a unique program that brings together students and faculty from U.S. engineering schools with engineers from the NASA centers through integration of current and future NASA space and aeronautics projects into university engineering design curriculum. The Advanced Space Design Program study topics cover a broad range of projects that could be undertaken during a 20-30 year period beginning with the deployment of the Space Station Freedom. The Advanced Aeronautics Design Program study topics typically focus on nearer-term projects of interest to NASA, covering from small, slow-speed vehicles through large, supersonic passenger transports and on through hypersonic research vehicles.
