Modifications in the Spectrum of Primordial Gravitational Waves Induced by Instantonic Fluctuations
Vacuum to vacuum instantonic transitions modify the power spectrum of
primordial gravitational waves. We evaluate the new form of the power spectrum
for ordinary gravity as well as the parity violation induced in the spectrum by
a modification of General Relativity known as Holst term and we outline the
possible experimental consequences.Comment: V1: 8 pages. V2: 8 pages, some points clarified, typos corrected,

Cold Quark Matter, Quadratic Corrections and Gauge/String Duality

Magnetic Catalysis in AdS4
We study the formation of fermion condensates in Anti de Sitter space. In
particular, we describe a novel version of magnetic catalysis that arises for
fermions in asymptotically AdS4 geometries which cap off in the infra-red with
a hard wall. We show that the presence of a magnetic field induces a fermion
condensate in the bulk that spontaneously breaks CP symmetry. From the
perspective of the dual boundary theory, this corresponds to a strongly coupled
version of magnetic catalysis in d=2+1.Comment: 22 pages, 4 figures. v2: References added, factors of 2 corrected,

Rare B Decays and B Decay Dynamics
I present some recent measurements of B meson decay rates to leptonic and
charmless hadronic final states, as well as of CP-violation charge asymmetries
and other features. I sketch the theoretical frameworks used to predict these,
and indicate the level of agreement of the estimates with experiment.Comment: Comments: 10 pages, 13 postscript figues, contributed to the

Emergence of a 4D World from Causal Quantum Gravity
Causal Dynamical Triangulations in four dimensions provide a
background-independent definition of the sum over geometries in nonperturbative
quantum gravity, with a positive cosmological constant. We present evidence
that a macroscopic four-dimensional world emerges from this theory dynamically.Comment: 11 pages, 3 figures; some short clarifying comments added; final

Momentum asymmetries as CP violating observables
Three body decays can exhibit CP violation that arises from interfering
diagrams with different orderings of the final state particles. We construct
several momentum asymmetry observables that are accessible in a hadron collider
environment where some of the final state particles are not reconstructed and
not all the kinematic information can be extracted. We discuss the
complications that arise from the different possible production mechanisms of
the decaying particle. Examples involving heavy neutralino decays in
supersymmetric theories and heavy Majorana neutrino decays in Type-I seesaw
models are examined.Comment: 20 pages, 9 figures. Clarifying comments and one reference added,
