What attracts vehicle consumers’ buying:A Saaty scale-based VIKOR (SSC-VIKOR) approach from after-sales textual perspective?

    Get PDF
Purpose: The increasingly booming e-commerce development has stimulated vehicle consumers to express individual reviews through online forum. The purpose of this paper is to probe into the vehicle consumer consumption behavior and make recommendations for potential consumers from textual comments viewpoint. Design/methodology/approach: A big data analytic-based approach is designed to discover vehicle consumer consumption behavior from online perspective. To reduce subjectivity of expert-based approaches, a parallel Naïve Bayes approach is designed to analyze the sentiment analysis, and the Saaty scale-based (SSC) scoring rule is employed to obtain specific sentimental value of attribute class, contributing to the multi-grade sentiment classification. To achieve the intelligent recommendation for potential vehicle customers, a novel SSC-VIKOR approach is developed to prioritize vehicle brand candidates from a big data analytical viewpoint. Findings: The big data analytics argue that “cost-effectiveness” characteristic is the most important factor that vehicle consumers care, and the data mining results enable automakers to better understand consumer consumption behavior. Research limitations/implications: The case study illustrates the effectiveness of the integrated method, contributing to much more precise operations management on marketing strategy, quality improvement and intelligent recommendation. Originality/value: Researches of consumer consumption behavior are usually based on survey-based methods, and mostly previous studies about comments analysis focus on binary analysis. The hybrid SSC-VIKOR approach is developed to fill the gap from the big data perspective

From Frequency to Meaning: Vector Space Models of Semantics

Computers understand very little of the meaning of human language. This profoundly limits our ability to give instructions to computers, the ability of computers to explain their actions to us, and the ability of computers to analyse and process text. Vector space models (VSMs) of semantics are beginning to address these limits. This paper surveys the use of VSMs for semantic processing of text. We organize the literature on VSMs according to the structure of the matrix in a VSM. There are currently three broad classes of VSMs, based on term-document, word-context, and pair-pattern matrices, yielding three classes of applications. We survey a broad range of applications in these three categories and we take a detailed look at a specific open source project in each category. Our goal in this survey is to show the breadth of applications of VSMs for semantics, to provide a new perspective on VSMs for those who are already familiar with the area, and to provide pointers into the literature for those who are less familiar with the field

Stock market sentiment lexicon acquisition using microblogging data and statistical measures

    Get PDF
Lexicon acquisition is a key issue for sentiment analysis. This paper presents a novel and fast approach for creating stock market lexicons. The approach is based on statistical measures applied over a vast set of labeled messages from StockTwits, which is a specialized stock market microblog. We compare three adaptations of statistical measures, such as pointwise mutual information (PMI), two new complementary statistics and the use of sentiment scores for affirmative and negated con- texts. Using StockTwits, we show that the new lexicons are competitive for measuring investor sentiment when compared with six popular lexicons. We also applied a lexicon to easily produce Twitter investor sentiment indicators and analyzed their correlation with survey sentiment indexes. The new microblogging indicators have a moderate correlation with popular Investors Intelligence (II) and American Association of Individual Investors (AAII) indicators. Thus, the new microblogging approach can be used alternatively to traditional survey indicators with advantages (e.g., cheaper creation, higher frequencies). This work was supported by FCT - Funda ção para a Ciência e Tecnologia within the Project Scope UID/CEC/00319/201

    Context-aware Document-clustering Technique

    Get PDF
Document clustering is an intentional act that should reflect individuals’ preferences with regard to the semantic coherency or relevant categorization of documents and should conform to the context of a target task under investigation. Thus, effective documentclustering techniques need to take into account a user’s categorization context defined by or relevant to the target task under consideration. However, existing document-clustering techniques generally anchor in pure content-based analysis and therefore are not able to facilitate context-aware document-clustering. In response, we propose a Context-Aware document-Clustering (CAC) technique that takes into consideration a user’s categorization preference (expressed as a list of anchoring terms) relevant to the context of a target task and subsequently generates a set of document clusters from this specific contextual perspective. Our empirical evaluation results suggest that our proposed CAC technique outperforms the pure content-based document-clustering technique

Design of a Controlled Language for Critical Infrastructures Protection

    Get PDF
We describe a project for the construction of controlled language for critical infrastructures protection (CIP). This project originates from the need to coordinate and categorize the communications on CIP at the European level. These communications can be physically represented by official documents, reports on incidents, informal communications and plain e-mail. We explore the application of traditional library science tools for the construction of controlled languages in order to achieve our goal. Our starting point is an analogous work done during the sixties in the field of nuclear science known as the Euratom Thesaurus.JRC.G.6-Security technology assessmen

The Today Tendency of Sentiment Classification

    Get PDF
Sentiment classification has already been studied for many years because it has had many crucial contributions to many different fields in everyday life, such as in political activities, commodity production, and commercial activities. There have been many kinds of the sentiment analysis such as machine learning approaches, lexicon-based approaches, etc., for many years. The today tendency of the sentiment classification is as follows: (1) Processing many big data sets with shortening execution times (2) Having a high accuracy (3) Integrating flexibly and easily into many small machines or many different approaches. We will present each category in more details

AliCG: Fine-grained and Evolvable Conceptual Graph Construction for Semantic Search at Alibaba

Conceptual graphs, which is a particular type of Knowledge Graphs, play an essential role in semantic search. Prior conceptual graph construction approaches typically extract high-frequent, coarse-grained, and time-invariant concepts from formal texts. In real applications, however, it is necessary to extract less-frequent, fine-grained, and time-varying conceptual knowledge and build taxonomy in an evolving manner. In this paper, we introduce an approach to implementing and deploying the conceptual graph at Alibaba. Specifically, We propose a framework called AliCG which is capable of a) extracting fine-grained concepts by a novel bootstrapping with alignment consensus approach, b) mining long-tail concepts with a novel low-resource phrase mining approach, c) updating the graph dynamically via a concept distribution estimation method based on implicit and explicit user behaviors. We have deployed the framework at Alibaba UC Browser. Extensive offline evaluation as well as online A/B testing demonstrate the efficacy of our approach.Comment: Accepted by KDD 2021 (Applied Data Science Track
