    Get PDF
This research-in-progress paper aims to investigate the determinants for the successful usage of social network services (SNS) from the perspective of a firm. A new type of commercial community operated by a firm in public SNS is defined as a firmā€™s SNS page and the success of encouraging usersā€™ adoption and continued usage of a firmā€™s SNS page is further defined as SNS success. Based on solid theoretical foundation of communicative ecology theory, a conceptual research model of SNS success is proposed. It is composed of the content quality, service quality, and social interaction quality as antecedents. Among these elements, social interaction quality is newly developed to reflect the value of interaction among community members as a second-order variable which consists of exchange information, social support, and friendship. In addition, incentives and the network size are examined as moderating variables. After building the research model and hypotheses, the measurement scales and the results of a pilot study to verify the items are described. At the end of the paper, the conclusion and the expected contribution are discussed

Microtask crowdsourcing is a relatively new work form enabled by information technologies. For both practitioners and academics, understanding the turnover intention of the users, requesters and crowd workers respectively, of microtask crowdsourcing is very important. However, compared with the relatively large literature on requester, studies focusing on worker crowd workers are limited. Therefore, in this study, we investigate the crowd workersā€™ intentions to leave the microtask crowdsourcing. The research goal is to analyze the motivations of crowd workers systematically and identify those factors that influenced their turnover intention. Based on perceived value and justice perspectives, a research model is developed. The proposed hypotheses will be tested using data from Amazon Mechanical Turk

The use of mobile coupons to share for bargaining has become an important marketing method for merchants in the field of e-commerce. However, there are still some shortcomings in the existing research on consumersā€™ willingness to share mobile coupons. First of all, the use and sharing of mobile coupons are analyzed separately. Secondly, most of theories and models in this domain derive from the field of knowledge. Lastly, the influence of different platforms on consumersā€™ willingness to share are not considered. Therefore, this paper explores the influencing factors of consumersā€™ willingness to share mobile coupons in different platform scenarios from the perspective of privacy computing, and proposes six hypotheses to construct a structural equation model. Further analysis of 270 valid questionnaires obtained under five scenarios shows that usersā€™ perceived economic benefits and perceived social benefits have a significant positive impact on usersā€™ willingness to share for bargaining, usersā€™ perceived privacy risks have no significant impact on usersā€™ willingness to share for bargaining, and usersā€™ perceived social risks have a significant negative impact on usersā€™ willingness to share for bargaining. Low share for bargaining links will weaken the negative impact of perceived social risk on sharing willingness

Mobile social media such as WhatsApp and WeChat greatly facilitate virtual collaboration within and across organizations. Based on the theory of self-interest and collective action, this study investigates how social environment influences user behavior. Corresponding to social capital, weak ties, and adoption thresholds, extrinsic motivation, communication climate and top management support are identified respectively as the main factors of member environment, group environment and organization environment that impact virtual collaboration. The research model hypothesizes that these social-level variables interact with the psychological processes related to technology use at the individual level. The survey results from virtual teams provide supporting evidence to most hypothesized relationships. The findings yield some interesting theoretical and practical implications for the collaborative use of social information systems

Maximizing Smart Charging of EVs: The Impact of Privacy and Money on Data Sharing

    Get PDF
Smart charging has the potential to shift peak load to times of lower demand, which better exploits renewable generation and enhances grid resilience. For increased effectiveness, smart charging requires access to data that consumers might be hesitant to share. To explore which data consumers would share and which factors influence this decision, we adopt the Barth and de Jongā€™s risk-benefit calculation framework to smart charging and conduct an online-survey (n = 479). We find that most respondents who would share charging details with a smart charging application, are ambivalent about location data and would never share calendar details. When presented with concrete monetary rewards, participants lose their initial reservations and would share all data for an amount dependent on the dataā€™s sensitivity. Thus, our study contributes to research on the privacy paradox by highlighting the importance of calculations between perceived risks and benefits for the decision to share data

The success of mobile learning system in higher education depends a lot on the studentsā€Ÿ acceptance of the technology. From an early investigation, students at Jordanian higher educational institutions however are still unwilling to use mobile learning applications and services. The studentsā€Ÿ acceptance should be a key concern for the management of a university in considering the implementation of mobile learning system. The objective of this study is to identify the factors that influence the acceptance of mobile learning system based on the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM). A total of 500 questionnaires were distributed to five universities in Jordan, out of which 398 question-naires were returned, representing 79% response rate. Statistical techniques including bivariate correlation analyses, multiple linear and stepwise regression analyses, T-tests, and One-Way ANOVA were used. The results showed three core determinants: Culture, Trust, and Technology Service Quality as significantly influenced Perceived Usefulness and Perceived Ease of Use. Perceived Usefulness and Perceived Ease of Use moreover have significantly determined Attitude, while Perceived Usefulness and Attitude, have significantly determined usersā€Ÿ Behavioral Intention. Among the five variables of culture, the study found Power Distance to be the most contributive variable, and Trust in University as the most contributive variable under the Trust factor. Meanwhile, the most contributive variable in Technology Service Quality factor is Accessibility. For the Demographic factors, the study proved that gender, mobile learning experience, and mobile internet experience have significantly influenced studentsā€Ÿ acceptance. Based on the results obtained, the study proposes a model of mobile learning acceptance based on TAM. A comprehensive understanding of this model will assist decision makers to enhance the acceptance of the mobile learning system among students in Jordanian higher educational institutions in the future
