I rapporti fra città e campagna allo specchio della normativa statutaria : un confronto fra lo Stato della Chiesa, la Toscana e l’Abruzzo (secoli XII-XVI)

[Italiano]: Lo spazio territoriale dello Stato della Chiesa nel tardo Medio Evo mostra alcune caratteristiche proprie dell’Italia centro-settentrionale, ma al contempo se ne distingue per altre che lo avvicinano al Regno meridionale. Questa interessante miscela può essere verificata nella normativa statutaria, che si è conservata abbondante per il periodo, anche se con alcune notevoli differenze regionali. L’interazione fra i centri urbani e quelli rurali trova qui una complicazione nella presenza del potere pontificio, che si inserisce nel rapporto fra i due soggetti condizionandolo, anche se con differente intensità e continuità. In questo volume si cerca di dettagliare il “gioco a tre” che l’attività normativa delle campagne comportava, senza dimenticare la possibile presenza di altri attori, come i signori rurali. Dedicando quattro studi alle quattro realtà regionali comprese nello Stato della Chiesa e altri tre a realtà finitime, cioè la Toscana fiorentina, quella senese e il Regno di Sicilia (con un’attenzione particolare all’Abruzzo), il libro suggerisce proficui confronti, che sono stati comunque una delle idee portanti del progetto. I singoli studiosi che sono stati invitati a partecipare all’iniziativa, ognuno specialista di una specifica area, pur non lavorando in stretto contatto, hanno comunque tenuto presenti i risultati delle ricerche condotte dagli altri, in modo da fornire un quadro il più possibile omogeneo, almeno per quanto riguarda le dinamiche dell’interazione fra i tre poteri./[English]: During late Middle Ages the space corresponding to Papal State showed some features similar to those of Central-Northern Italy, sharing others with the Southern Kingdom. This interesting mix can be tested observing statutory law, that, regarding this period, has abundantly survived, although revealing remarkable regional differences. The interplay between cities and villages in this situation is complicated by Papal power, which participates in that relationship, affecting it with a varying intensity and continuity. In this book we try to specify the “three parts game” that happened during the legislative process, considering also other players action, such rural lords. The work includes four essays about the four lands forming the Papal State and other three about nearer lands, i.e. Florentine Tuscany, Siennese one and the Sicilian Kingdom (reserving a special attention at Abruzzo), and suggests useful comparisons, one of the project paramount aims. The scholars invited to join the enterprise, each specialist of a single land, during their research considered other’s results, notwithstanding the physical distance among each other. The center of attention of this thesis is the commercial relations between France, the island of Sardinia and the city of Genoa, as well as the business ventures of French capitalists thanks to the support of the most important businessmen in the two financial cities of the Kingdom of Sardinia (Genoa and Turin) during the so-called Cavourian decade. This work is based mainly on French both political and economical consular reports sent from the post of Cagliari, one of the strategic Mediterranean ports. The thesis is divided into four chapters. The first chapter is entirely dedicated to the economic junctures that contributed to create a wide and integrated French-Ligurian-Sardinian trading and industrial area. The second chapter examines the commercial activity, the investment areas and the entrepreneurial units and companies in Sardinia, where there was a strong presence of French and Ligurian businessmen (mines, salines, agriculture, infrastructures, banks and so forth). The third chapter recreates the setting (cities and coastal towns) where French consuls, viceconsuls and consular agents were called to protect the French interests. The work analyses also the social setting by offering a description of the condition of life and economical problems that obliged people to strive for the annexation of Sardinia to an European main power as France. To conclude, the thesis describes the main aspects of the French community in Sardinia, mostly composed by merchants. It includes the biographies of French consuls in Cagliari from 1848 to 1861

Carrara: un territorio irripetibile ad alto potenziale turistico

La prima parte dell’elaborato presenta la città di Carrara e l’attività estrattiva dei suoi pregiati marmi, che ha condizionato, e tuttora condiziona, la storia, l’economia, le tradizioni e la cultura della popolazione carrarese. La seconda parte del testo evidenzia la situazione del turismo nella Provincia di Massa - Carrara, ed in modo specifico, di quello rilevabile nel Comune di Carrara. Una parte dei visitatori presenti in città giunge anche per visitare le cave di marmo, ed allora, proprio i bacini marmiferi carraresi, grazie alla propria natura e all’affascinante paesaggio, potrebbero rappresentare una grossa opportunità per sviluppare una forma di turismo, non di massa, incentrata sul desiderio di vivere un’esperienza unica ed irripetibile
