A Pragmatic Interpretation of Quantum Logic
Scholars have wondered for a long time whether the language of quantum
mechanics introduces a quantum notion of truth which is formalized by quantum
logic (QL) and is incompatible with the classical (Tarskian) notion. We show
that QL can be interpreted as a pragmatic language of assertive formulas which
formalize statements about physical systems that are empirically justified or
unjustified in the framework of quantum mechanics. According to this
interpretation, QL formalizes properties of the metalinguistic notion of
empirical justification within quantum mechanics rather than properties of a
quantum notion of truth. This conclusion agrees with a general integrationist
perspective that interprets nonstandard logics as theories of metalinguistic
notions different from truth, thus avoiding incompatibility with classical
notions and preserving the globality of logic. By the way, some elucidations of
the standard notion of quantum truth are also obtained.

The PER model of abstract non-interference
Abstract. In this paper, we study the relationship between two models of secure information flow: the PER model (which uses equivalence relations) and the abstract non-interference model (which uses upper closure operators). We embed the lattice of equivalence relations into the lattice of closures, re-interpreting abstract non-interference over the lattice of equivalence relations. For narrow abstract non-interference, we show non-interference it is strictly less general. The relational presentation of abstract non-interference leads to a simplified construction of the most concrete harmless attacker. Moreover, the PER model of abstract noninterference allows us to derive unconstrained attacker models, which do not necessarily either observe all public information or ignore all private information. Finally, we show how abstract domain completeness can be used for enforcing the PER model of abstract non-interference
Fuzzy inequational logic
We present a logic for reasoning about graded inequalities which generalizes
the ordinary inequational logic used in universal algebra. The logic deals with
atomic predicate formulas of the form of inequalities between terms and
formalizes their semantic entailment and provability in graded setting which
allows to draw partially true conclusions from partially true assumptions. We
follow the Pavelka approach and define general degrees of semantic entailment
and provability using complete residuated lattices as structures of truth
degrees. We prove the logic is Pavelka-style complete. Furthermore, we present
a logic for reasoning about graded if-then rules which is obtained as
particular case of the general result
Binding Social and Cultural Networks: A Model
Until now, most studies carried onto social or semantic networks have
considered each of these networks independently. Our goal here is to bring a
formal frame for studying both networks empirically as well as to point out
stylized facts that would explain their reciprocal influence and the emergence
of clusters of agents, which may also be regarded as ''cultural cliques''. We
show how to apply the Galois lattice theory to the modeling of the coevolution
of social and conceptual networks, and the characterization of cultural
communities. Basing our approach on Barabasi-Albert's models, we however extend
the usual preferential attachment probability in order to take into account the
reciprocal influence of both networks, therefore introducing the notion of dual
distance. In addition to providing a theoretic frame we draw here a program of
empirical tests which should give root to a more analytical model and the
consequent simulation and validation. In a broader view, adopting and actually
implementing the paradigm of cultural epidemiology, we could proceed further
with the study of knowledge diffusion and explain how the social network
structure affects concept propagation and in return how concept propagation
