This document outlines a method for the various registries for implementing their EPP client so that it interacts correctly with the synchronous server of the Italian registry. There are three categories of such EPP commands. Commands for: - managing sessions (login, logout, hello) - querying the server without modifying the status of the Contact and Domain objects - for modifying the status of the Contact and Domain objects For each command you will see an example of a request and how the server responds. There are also some examples of responses to errors for cases where the EPP command has not been correctly submitted or submitted in a status in which the command itself is not permitted

Management of synchronous operations on domain names of the ccTLD .it

This document details the operations needed for registering and maintaining domain names in accordance with synchronous registration. The synchronous system for registering and maintaining a domain name is provided by organizations (henceforth Registrars) that have an active contract with the Registry (henceforth .it Registry or Registry of the ccTLD.it), which is subordinate to an accreditation procedure. The Registrar will always be an intermediary with the Registry for all domain name registering and maintenance and also for correctly updating the Database of Assigned Names (DBNA) by using the synchronous registration system. The synchronous registration system allows Registrars to register and maintain domain names in realtime within the limits set out in the "Rules for assigning and managing domain names in the ccTLD.it" (hereafter, "Rules"). The synchronous system for registering and maintaining domain names of the .it Registry uses the protocol EPP (Extensible Provisioning Protocol) to comply with internationally accepted standards and to comply with decisions already made by other ccTLDs and gTLDs. EPP is a synchronous client-server protocol based on XML

    Semantic Web Services Provisioning

Semantic Web Services constitute an important research area, where vari ous underlying frameworks, such as WSMO and OWL-S, define Semantic Web ontologies to describe Web services, so they can be automatically discovered, composed, and invoked. Service discovery has been traditionally interpreted as a functional filter in current Semantic Web Services frameworks, frequently performed by Description Logics reasoners. However, semantic provisioning has to be performed taking Quality-of-Service (QOS) into account, defining user preferences that enable QOS-aware Semantic Web Service selection. Nowadays, the research focus is actually on QOS-aware processes, so cur rent proposals are developing the field by providing QOS support to semantic provisioning, especially in selection processes. These processes lead to opti mization problems, where the best service among a set of services has to be selected, so Description Logics cannot be used in this context. Furthermore, user preferences has to be semantically defined so they can be used within selection processes. There are several proposals that extend Semantic Web Services frameworks allowing QOS-aware semantic provisioning. However, proposed selection techniques are very coupled with their proposed extensions, most of them being implemented ad hoc. Thus, there is a semantic gap between functional descriptions (usually using WSMO or OWL-S) and user preferences, which are specific for each proposal, using different ontologies or even non-semantic de scriptions, and depending on its corresponding ad hoc selection technique. In this report, we give an overview of most important Semantic Web Ser vices frameworks, showing a comparison between them. Then, a thorough analysis of state-of-the art proposals on QOS-aware semantic provisioning and user preferences descriptions is presented, discussing about their applicabil ity, advantages, and defects. Results from this analysis motivate our research work, which has been already materialized in two early contributions.

Design and implementation of an EPP load generator

The RFC3730 describes the Extensible Provisioning Protocol (EPP), an XML-based protocol created for providing a standard Internet domain name registration protocol on behalf of domain name registrars and registries. The goal of our study is to understand the key elements in performance of an EPP system designed to automate the domain name registration process. For accomplishing this task, as first step, we designed and implemented an EPP Load Generator which creates synthetic traffic of domain name registrations. In this report the architecture of the EPP load generator is discussed in detail

Various observers describe today's global economy as one in transition to aknowledge economy, as an extension of an information society. The transition requires thatthe rules and practices that determined success in the industrial economy need rewriting in aninterconnected, globalized economy where knowledge resources such as know-how andexpertise are as critical as other economic resources. According to analysts of the knowledgeeconomy, these rules need to be rewritten at the levels of firms and industries in terms ofknowledge management and at the level of public policy as knowledge policy or knowledge-related policy. The digital and ICT revolutions are twin revolutions. Information andcommunications technology (ICT) refers to a broad field encompassing computers, communications equipment and the services associated with them. It includes the telephone, cellular networks, satellite communication, broadcasting media and other forms ofcommunication.digital revolutions, communication equipment, broadcasting media

The main focus is on domain registration via registrars, which is connected with an interface for the registrars registration systems. A part of the interface for the registrars is EPP communication protocol, which is in the project described in detail. Furthermore, there is an overview of freely available registration systems. After this overview, the work focuses more on the czech registration system FRED, specifically the section solving communication with the registrars. A part of is a little research conducted among the registrars aimed at their solving access to the registration system. To facilitate this approach, this work focuses on the implementation of the client library that shield programmers from the details of the communication protocol between the registrar and the registration system and provides an interface for easy implementation of client for the FRED system.
