    PVT-Robust CMOS Programmable Chaotic Oscillator: Synchronization of Two 7-Scroll Attractors

    Designing chaotic oscillators using complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor (CMOS) integrated circuit technology for generating multi-scroll attractors has been a challenge. That way, we introduce a current-mode piecewise-linear (PWL) function based on CMOS cells that allow programmable generation of 2–7-scroll chaotic attractors. The mathematical model of the chaotic oscillator designed herein has four coefficients and a PWL function, which can be varied to provide a high value of the maximum Lyapunov exponent. The coefficients are implemented electronically by designing operational transconductance amplifiers that allow programmability of their transconductances. Design simulations of the chaotic oscillator are provided for the 0.35μ m CMOS technology. Post-layout and process–voltage–temperature (PVT) variation simulations demonstrate robustness of the multi-scroll chaotic attractors. Finally, we highlight the synchronization of two seven-scroll attractors in a master–slave topology by generalized Hamiltonian forms and observer approach.     Grid Multiscroll Hyperchaotic Attractors Based on Colpitts Oscillator Mode with Controllable Grid Gradient and Scroll Numbers

    AbstractThrough introducing two piecewise-linear triangular wave functions in a three-dimensional spiral chaotic Colpitts oscillator model, a four-dimensional grid multiscroll hyperchaotic system is constructed. Interestingly, by adjusting a build-in parameter in a variable of one triangle wave function, the control of the gradient of the multiscroll grid is achieved. Whereas by deploying the zero points of the two triangular wave functions to extend the saddle-focus equilibrium points with index-2 in phase space the scroll numbers do not only increase along with the number of turning points, but they can also generate arbitrary multiples of products. The basic dynamical behaviors of the proposed four-dimensional multiscroll hyperchaotic system are analyzed. Finally, the hardware experimental circuit is designed and the interrelated circuit implementation is realized. The experimental results are in agreement with both theoretical analyses and numerical simulations, which verify the feasibility of the design methods

    A Triple-Memristor Hopfield Neural Network With Space Multi-Structure Attractors And Space Initial-Offset Behaviors

This paper proposes a memristive Hopfield neural network with three memristive coupling synaptic weights. The complex dynamical behaviors of the triple-memristor Hopfield neural network (TM-HNN), which have never been observed in previous Hopfield-type neural networks, include space multi-structure chaotic attractors and space initial-offset coexisting behaviors. Bifurcation diagrams, Lyapunov exponents, phase portraits, Poincaré maps, and basins of attraction are used to reveal and examine the specific dynamics. Theoretical analysis and numerical simulation show that the number of space multi-structure attractors can be adjusted by changing the control parameters of the memristors, and the position of space coexisting attractors can be changed by switching the initial states of the memristors. Extreme multistability emerges as a result of the TM-HNN’s unique dynamical behaviors, making it more suitable for applications based on chaos. Moreover, a digital hardware platform is developed and the space multi-structure attractors as well as the space coexisting attractors are experimentally demonstrated. Finally, we design a pseudo-random number generator to explore the potential application of the proposed TM-HNN.Peer reviewe

    Constructing multiwing attractors from a robust chaotic system with non-hyperbolic equilibrium points

    We investigate a three-dimensional (3D) robust chaotic system which only holds two nonhyperbolic equilibrium points, and finds the complex dynamical behaviour of position modulation beyond amplitude modulation. To extend the application of this chaotic system, we initiate a novel methodology to construct multiwing chaotic attractors by modifying the position and amplitude parameters. Moreover, the signal amplitude, range and distance of the generated multiwings can be easily adjusted by using the control parameters, which enable us to enhance the potential application in chaotic cryptography and secure communication. The effectiveness of the theoretical analyses is confirmed by numerical simulations. Particularly, the multiwing attractor is physically realized by using DSP (digital signal processor) chip

    Grid multi-wing butterfly chaotic attractors generated from a new 3-D quadratic autonomous system

    Due to the dynamic characteristics of the Lorenz system, multi-wing chaotic systems are still confined in the positive half-space and fail to break the threshold limit. In this paper, a new approach for generating complex grid multi-wing attractors that can break the threshold limit via a novel nonlinear modulating function is proposed from the firstly proposed double-wing chaotic system. The proposed method is different from that of classical multi-scroll chaotic attractors generated by odd-symmetric multi-segment linear functions from Chua system. The new system is autonomous and can generate various grid multi-wing butterfly chaotic attractors without requiring any external forcing, it also can produce grid multi-wing both on the xz-plane and yz-plane. Basic properties of the new system such as dissipation property, equilibrium, stability, the Lyapunov exponent spectrum and bifurcation diagram are introduced by numerical simulation, theoretical analysis and circuit experiment, which confirm that the multi-wing attractors chaotic system has more rich and complicated chaotic dynamics. Finally, a novel module-based unified circuit is designed which provides some principles and guidelines for future circuitry design and engineering application. The circuit experimental results are consistent with the numerical simulation results.&nbsp

    Modeling Deterministic Chaos Using Electronic Circuits

    This paper brings a note on systematic circuit synthesis methods for modeling the dynamical systems given by mathematical model. Both classical synthesis and integrator based method is demonstrated via the relatively complicated real physical systems with possible chaotic solution. A variety of the different active building blocks are utilized to make the final circuits as simple as possible while preserving easily measurable voltage-mode state variables. Brief experimental verification, i.e. oscilloscope screenshots, is presented. The observed attractors have some structural stability and good relationship to their numerically integrated counterparts

    Control of a novel chaotic fractional order system using a state feedback technique

    We consider a new fractional order chaotic system displaying an interesting behavior. A necessary condition for the system to remain chaotic is derived. It is found that chaos exists in the system with order less than three. Using the Routh-Hurwitz and the Matignon stability criteria, we analyze the novel chaotic fractional order system and propose a control methodology that is better than the nonlinear counterparts available in the literature, in the sense of simplicity of implementation and analysis. A scalar control input that excites only one of the states is proposed, and sufficient conditions for the controller gain to stabilize the unstable equilibrium points derived.     Design and implementation of a multi-modal sensor with on-chip security

    With the advancement of technology, wearable devices for fitness tracking, patient monitoring, diagnosis, and disease prevention are finding ways to be woven into modern world reality. CMOS sensors are known to be compact, with low power consumption, making them an inseparable part of wireless medical applications and Internet of Things (IoT). Digital/semi-digital output, by the translation of transmitting data into the frequency domain, takes advantages of both the analog and digital world. However, one of the most critical measures of communication, security, is ignored and not considered for fabrication of an integrated chip. With the advancement of Moore\u27s law and the possibility of having a higher number of transistors and more complex circuits, the feasibility of having on-chip security measures is drawing more attention. One of the fundamental means of secure communication is real-time encryption. Encryption/ciphering occurs when we encode a signal or data, and prevents unauthorized parties from reading or understanding this information. Encryption is the process of transmitting sensitive data securely and with privacy. This measure of security is essential since in biomedical devices, the attacker/hacker can endanger users of IoT or wearable sensors (e.g. attacks at implanted biosensors can cause fatal harm to the user).
