Affirmed Crowd Sensor Selection based Cooperative Spectrum Sensing
The Cooperative Spectrum sensing model is gaining importance among the cognitive radio network sharing groups. While the crowd-sensing model (technically the cooperative spectrum sensing) model has positive developments, one of the critical challenges plaguing the model is the false or manipulated crowd sensor data, which results in implications for the secondary user’s network. Considering the efficacy of the spectrum sensing by crowd-sensing model, it is vital to address the issues of falsifications and manipulations, by focusing on the conditions of more accurate determination models. Concerning this, a method of avoiding falsified crowd sensors from the process of crowd sensors centric cooperative spectrum sensing has portrayed in this article. The proposal is a protocol that selects affirmed crowd sensor under diversified factors of the decision credibility about spectrum availability. An experimental study is a simulation approach that evincing the competency of the proposal compared to the other contemporary models available in recent literature
Vehicular Dynamic Spectrum Access: Using Cognitive Radio for Automobile Networks
Vehicular Dynamic Spectrum Access (VDSA) combines the advantages of dynamic spectrum access to achieve higher spectrum efficiency and the special mobility pattern of vehicle fleets. This dissertation presents several noval contributions with respect to vehicular communications, especially vehicle-to-vehicle communications. Starting from a system engineering aspect, this dissertation will present several promising future directions for vehicle communications, taking into consideration both the theoretical and practical aspects of wireless communication deployment. This dissertation starts with presenting a feasibility analysis using queueing theory to model and estimate the performance of VDSA within a TV whitespace environment. The analytical tool uses spectrum measurement data and vehicle density to find upper bounds of several performance metrics for a VDSA scenario in TVWS. Then, a framework for optimizing VDSA via artificial intelligence and learning, as well as simulation testbeds that reflect realistic spectrum sharing scenarios between vehicle networks and heterogeneous wireless networks including wireless local area networks and wireless regional area networks. Detailed experimental results justify the testbed for emulating a mobile dynamic spectrum access environment composed of heterogeneous networks with four dimensional mutual interference. Vehicular cooperative communication is the other proposed technique that combines the cooperative communication technology and vehicle platooning, an emerging concept that is expected to both increase highway utilization and enhance both driver experience and safety. This dissertation will focus on the coexistence of multiple vehicle groups in shared spectrum, where intra-group cooperation and inter-group competition are investigated in the aspect of channel access. Finally, a testbed implementation VDSA is presented and a few applications are developed within a VDSA environment, demonstrating the feasibility and benefits of some features in a future transportation system
On the Performance of Multiple Antenna Cooperative Spectrum Sharing Protocol under Nakagami-m Fading
In a cooperative spectrum sharing (CSS) protocol, two wireless systems
operate over the same frequency band albeit with different priorities. The
secondary (or cognitive) system which has a lower priority, helps the higher
priority primary system to achieve its target rate by acting as a relay and
allocating a fraction of its power to forward the primary signal. The secondary
system in return is benefited by transmitting its own data on primary system's
spectrum. In this paper, we have analyzed the performance of multiple antenna
cooperative spectrum sharing protocol under Nakagami-m Fading. Closed form
expressions for outage probability have been obtained by varying the parameters
m and Omega of the Nakagami-m fading channels. Apart from above, we have shown
the impact of power allocation factor (alpha) and parameter m on the region of
secondary spectrum access, conventionally defined as critical radius for the
secondary system. A comparison between theoretical and simulated results is
also presented to corroborate the theoretical results obtained in this paperComment: Accepted in the proceedings of IEEE PIMRC 2015 Hong Kong, Chin
Market Based Approaches for Dynamic Spectrum Assignment
Abstract—Much of the technical literature on spectrum sharing has been on developing technologies and systems for non-cooperative) opportunistic use. In this paper, we situate this approach to secondary spectrum use in a broader context, one that includes cooperative approaches to Dynamic Spectrum Access (DSA). In this paper, we introduce readers to this broader approach to DSA by contrasting it with non-cooperative sharing (opportunistic use), surveying relevant literature, and suggesting future directions for researc
Spectrum Sharing between Cooperative Relay and Ad-hoc Networks: Dynamic Transmissions under Computation and Signaling Limitations
This paper studies a spectrum sharing scenario between a cooperative relay
network (CRN) and a nearby ad-hoc network. In particular, we consider a dynamic
spectrum access and resource allocation problem of the CRN. Based on sensing
and predicting the ad-hoc transmission behaviors, the ergodic traffic collision
time between the CRN and ad-hoc network is minimized subject to an ergodic
uplink throughput requirement for the CRN. We focus on real-time implementation
of spectrum sharing policy under practical computation and signaling
limitations. In our spectrum sharing policy, most computation tasks are
accomplished off-line. Hence, little real-time calculation is required which
fits the requirement of practical applications. Moreover, the signaling
procedure and computation process are designed carefully to reduce the time
delay between spectrum sensing and data transmission, which is crucial for
enhancing the accuracy of traffic prediction and improving the performance of
interference mitigation. The benefits of spectrum sensing and cooperative relay
techniques are demonstrated by our numerical experiments.Comment: 5 pages, 3 figures, to appear in IEEE International Conference on

Spectrum sharing models in cognitive radio networks
Spectrum scarcity demands thinking new ways to
manage the distribution of radio frequency bands so that its use is more effective. The emerging technology that can enable this paradigm shift is the cognitive radio. Different models for
organizing and managing cognitive radios have emerged, all with specific strategic purposes. In this article we review the allocation spectrum patterns of cognitive radio networks and
analyse which are the common basis of each model. We expose the vulnerabilities and open challenges that still threaten the adoption
