ABSTRACTThis study aims to analyze the factors that influence online impulse buying. The population in this study are people who have shopped impulsively at various e-stores in Indonesia such as Shopee, Lazada, Bukalapak and Tokopedia. The research sample size is 325 respondents. Data was collected by distributing questionnaires through social media and analyzed using Partial Least Square (PLS) with SmartPLS software. The results show that flow state, product affect and social interaction have a positive influence on online impulse buying so that the pleasure felt by consumers when browsing e-stores, positive (emotional) responses to products and social interactions can encourage the online impulse buying. Meanwhile, product risk has no effect on impulse buying, so product risk will not be related to the occurrence of online impulse buying. Online businessmen can encourage impulse buying by presenting attractive e-stores and providing communication space for fellow consumers through various media to be able to share information about products and shopping experiences.

Master of Business Administration. University of KwaZulu-Natal, Westville 2011.Consumer buying behaviour is a well documented topic and as such has inspired a wealth of literature. In South Africa online shopping is a relatively new concept and as such still faces a variety of teething problems that can only be addressed once a better understanding of consumer buying behaviour has been reached. This study deals specifically with online clothing buying behaviour in South Africa. Seeking greater understanding of consumers’ buying behaviour in the clothing sector will assist online vendors in creating favourable experiences for online shoppers and therefore assist their attempts to satisfy their target markets. A quantitative study was conducted the aim of which was to determine what factors would attract consumers to purchase clothing online. Four hundred potential respondents were approached, however, only 289 took part in the study. To be considered for the survey respondents were required to be South African residents currently active on the social network, Facebook. The study aimed to create a profile of online clothing shoppers in South Africa and ascertaining what factors may improve their attitudes toward online shopping. The study revealed that a major challenge faced by online clothing is that of securing an initial purchase, however, once this initial purpose has been achieved respondents generally had a more favourable attitude toward shopping for clothing online. It was further revealed that certain factors or offerings could also improve consumers’ attitudes. The study showed that the majority of respondents, when provided with customisation options, had a significantly improved attitude toward online shopping. Social networks were another factor identified by the researcher as potentially having the ability to positively impact on consumers’ online shopping behaviour. The study revealed that in South Africa social networks are currently limited in their impact on buying behaviour, however, there were indications that social networks may prove useful to both vendors and consumers alike in future. Finally some of the most notable recommendations were that vendors should emphasise branding, obtain endorsement from public figures and tailor their payment and returns policies to suit the preferences of the consumers

A thesis submitted to the University of Bedfordshire in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Doctor of PhilosophyConsumer behaviour is determined by various factors, therefore it is considered as very complex and difficult to predict. This study is an attempt to explore and establish the relationships between various factors that result in impulse buying behaviour during online and offline buying. A preliminary qualitative study was carried out to understand the various situations in which impulse buying takes place. For the preliminary study data was collected by conducting semi-structured interviews. A thematic analysis approach has been used for data analysis. The results of the study reveal that in the offline buying store environment, presence of others and crowding plays a vital role, while in online buying website quality, visual appeal and usability of the website increases the chances of impulse buying. In addition it has been found that situational factors such as mood, sales promotion, availability of time and availability of money also have an influence. Important literature was reviewed first and a conceptual framework consisting of the different hypotheses was proposed; then those hypotheses were empirically tested. Quantitative data was collected for the main study by using questionnaires and a self-administrative technique; a total of 312 respondents took part in this study, for which a pilot study was carried out to refine the final questionnaire. Confirmatory Factor Analysis was used to evaluate the model fit and for further refinement of the constructs. Data was analysed by using structured equation modelling and this approach was used for testing the hypothesized relationship between independent variables (store environment, website characteristics) and dependent variable (impulse buying behaviour). Results of the mediating test shows that situational factors fully mediate the relationship between store environment and impulse buying behaviour. While on the other hand situational factors partially mediate between website characteristics and impulse buying behaviour. The results further reveal that apparel products are impulsively purchased by females most of the time. Food and food items are purchased impulsively by most of the respondents (140) most of the time, whereas a very small number of respondents mentioned that they purchase books impulsively. Results also reveal that situational factors partially mediate between store environment, website characteristics and impulse buying behaviour

“Virtual Stores” on the Web raise a myriad of traditional legal controversies in a new forum: the “battle of the forms” among purchasers and sellers; jurisdictional concerns and conflict-of-law problems; and the enforceability of contracts. This wide-ranging article analyzes law regarding these issues, with particular emphasis on the U.C.C

Malaysian bilateral trade relations and economic growth

This paper examines the structure and trends of Malaysian bilateral exports and imports and then investigates whether these bilateral exports and imports have caused Malaysian economic growth. Although the structure of Malaysia’s trade has changed quite significantly over the last three decades, the direction of Malaysia’s trade remains generally the same. Broadly, ASEAN, the EU, East Asia, the US and Japan continue to be the Malaysia’s major trading partners. The Granger causality tests have shown that it is the bilateral imports that have caused economic growth in Malaysia rather than the bilateral exports

Exchange rate misalignments in ASEAN-5 countries

The purpose of this paper is to estimate the exchange rate misalignments for Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore and Thailand before the currency crisis. By employing the sticky-price monetary exchange rate model in the environment of vector error-correction, the results indicate that the Indonesia rupiah, Malaysian ringgit, Philippines peso and Singapore dollar were overvalued before the currency crisis while Thai baht was undervalued on the eve of the crisis. However, they suffered modest misalignment. Therefore, little evidence of exchange misalignment is found to exist in 1997:2. In particular, Indonesia rupiah, Malaysia ringgit, Philippines peso and Singapore dollar were only overvalued about 1 to 4 percent against US dollar while the Thai baht was only 2 percent undervalued against US dollar

    The Law of Global Digitality

The Internet is not an unchartered territory. On the Internet, norms matter. They interact, regulate, are contested and legitimated by multiple actors. But are they diverse and unstructured, or are they part of a recognizable order? And if the latter, what does this order look like? This collected volume explores these key questions while providing new perspectives on the role of law in times of digitality. The book compares six different areas of law that have been particularly exposed to global digitality, namely laws regulating consumer contracts, data protection, the media, financial markets, criminal activity and intellectual property law. By comparing how these very different areas of law have evolved with regard to cross-border online situations, the book considers whether cyberlaw is little more than "the law of the horse", or whether the law of global digitality is indeed special and, if so, what its characteristics across various areas of law are. The book brings together legal academics with expertise in how law has both reacted to and shaped cross-border, global Internet communication and their contributions consider whether it is possible to identify a particular mediality of law in the digital age. Examining whether a global law of digitality has truly emerged, this book will appeal to academics, students and practitioners of law examining the future of the law of digitality as it intersects with traditional categories of law
