The key to any nameless representation of syntax is how it indicates the variables we choose to use and thus, implicitly, those we discard. Standard de Bruijn representations delay discarding maximally till the leaves of terms where one is chosen from the variables in scope at the expense of the rest. Consequently, introducing new but unused variables requires term traversal. This paper introduces a nameless 'co-de-Bruijn' representation which makes the opposite canonical choice, delaying discarding minimally, as near as possible to the root. It is literate Agda: dependent types make it a practical joy to express and be driven by strong intrinsic invariants which ensure that scope is aggressively whittled down to just the support of each subterm, in which every remaining variable occurs somewhere. The construction is generic, delivering a universe of syntaxes with higher-order metavariables, for which the appropriate notion of substitution is hereditary. The implementation of simultaneous substitution exploits tight scope control to avoid busywork and shift terms without traversal. Surprisingly, it is also intrinsically terminating, by structural recursion alone

Structural dynamic characteristics and responses of the Space Station due to the natural and induced environment are discussed. Problems that are peculiar to the Space Station are also discussed. These factors lead to an overall acceleration environment that users may expect. This acceleration environment can be considered as a loading, as well as a disturbance environment

Christopher Donahue (he/his/him) was born in Bethesda, Maryland in December 2000 then raised in La Crosse, Wisconsin. Growing up, he did a lot of travelling with his parents to numerous cities throughout the country and took photos of all his experiences. While in high school, he realized that he had an appreciation for nature, Donahue believed that he should have a career in writing, photography, and film, After graduating high school in the spring of 2019, he decided to attend Columbia College Chicago for a degree in filmmaking in Fall of 2019. After the pandemic hit and Columbia shut down in Spring of 2020, Donahue had to return to La Crosse to stay with his parents and went through months to focus on his creations in film and to better his mental health. He was finally able to return to Chicago when schools reopened in Fall of 2020 and plans to graduate in Spring 2023.https://digitalcommons.colum.edu/capturingquarantine/1029/thumbnail.jp

Long Term Experiences of Tenants in Social Housing in East Kilbride: an Oral History Study

    Get PDF
The aim of the project was to conduct an analysis of the extent to which the 'modern' homes of the new town of East Kilbride have met the promises of the original new town planners. It was their belief that high quality 'modern' housing in a planned environment would promote a sense of health and wellbeing amongst residents, improving their quality of life. By means of a series of in depth oral history interviews with long term residents this research probed people's subjective experiences of moving to the town, settling in and adapting, homemaking, leisure and community activities and their views on East Kilbride in 2011. The findings suggest high levels of aspiration amongst those who moved there and high levels of satisfaction with the quality of housing and the quality of life. East Kilbride offered space, new facilities and a sense of community. This was countered by the sense that today, growth of the town, the privileging of the private car and changes in home ownership and tenancy are altering the town's character so that the like-mindedness of earlier years is being replaced by individualism
