For networked systems, especially large-scale systems such as multiagent systems and systems over sensor networks, the complexities are inevitably enhanced in terms of their degrees or intensities because of the usage of the communication networks. Therefore, it would be interesting to (1) examine how this kind of network-enhanced complexities affects the control or filtering performance; and (2) develop some suitable approaches for controller/filter design problems. In this paper, we aim to survey some recent advances on the performance analysis and synthesis with three sorts of fashionable network-enhanced complexities, namely, fading measurements, event-triggered mechanisms, and attack behaviors of adversaries. First, these three kinds of complexities are introduced in detail according to their engineering backgrounds, dynamical characteristic, and modelling techniques. Then, the developments of the performance analysis and synthesis issues for various networked systems are systematically reviewed. Furthermore, some challenges are illustrated by using a thorough literature review and some possible future research directions are highlighted. This work was supported in part by the National Natural Science Foundation of China under Grants 61134009, 61329301, 61203139, 61374127, and 61374010, the Royal Society of the UK, and the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation of Germany

Event-triggered passivity of multi-weighted coupled delayed reaction-diffusion memristive neural networks with fixed and switching topologies

This paper solves the event-triggered passivity problem for multiple-weighted coupled delayed reaction-diffusion memristive neural networks (MWCDRDMNNs) with fixed and switching topologies. On the one side, by designing appropriate event-triggered controllers, several passivity criteria for MWCDRDMNNs with fixed topology are derived based on the Lyapunov functional method and some inequality techniques. Moreover, some adequate conditions for ensuring asymptotical stability of the event-triggered passive network are presented. On the other side, we take the switching topology in network model into consideration, and investigate the event-triggered passivity and passivity-based synchronization for MWCDRDMNNs with switching topology. Finally, two examples with numerical simulation results are provided to illustrate the effectiveness of the obtained theoretical results

Synchronization of decentralized event-triggered uncertain switched neural networks with two additive time-varying delays

    Get PDF
This paper addresses the problem of synchronization for decentralized event-triggered uncertain switched neural networks with two additive time-varying delays. A decentralized eventtriggered scheme is employed to determine the time instants of communication from the sensors to the central controller based on narrow possible information only. In addition, a class of switched neural networks is analyzed based on the Lyapunov–Krasovskii functional method and a combined linear matrix inequality (LMI) technique and average dwell time approach. Some sufficient conditions are derived to guarantee the exponential stability of neural networks under consideration in the presence of admissible parametric uncertainties. Numerical examples are provided to illustrate the effectiveness of the obtained results.&nbsp

Exponential synchronization of a complex dynamical network with piecewise-homogeneous Markovian jump structure and coupling delay

In this paper, exponential synchronization problem is studied for a complex dynamical network (CDN) with a class of Markovian jump structure with coupling-time delay. The CDN under consideration has a piecewise-Markovian jump structure with piecewise-constant transition rates (TRs). First piecewise-homogeneous Markovian process is modeled by two Markov chains then, the synchronization problem of the CDN is inspected by constructing Lyapunov-Krasovskii function with Markov dependent matrices. Ultimately, the controller gain matrices for guaranteeing the synchronization problem in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs) are derived. A CDN with a Chua circuit dynamic for each node is given as a numerical example to show the effectiveness of the theoretical results

    Robust Control

The need to be tolerant to changes in the control systems or in the operational environment of systems subject to unknown disturbances has generated new control methods that are able to deal with the non-parametrized disturbances of systems, without adapting itself to the system uncertainty but rather providing stability in the presence of errors bound in a model. With this approach in mind and with the intention to exemplify robust control applications, this book includes selected chapters that describe models of H-infinity loop, robust stability and uncertainty, among others. Each robust control method and model discussed in this book is illustrated by a relevant example that serves as an overview of the theoretical and practical method in robust control

Event-triggered communication for passivity and synchronisation of multi-weighted coupled neural networks with and without parameter uncertainties

    Get PDF
A multi-weighted coupled neural networks (MWCNNs) model with event-triggered communication is studied here. On the one hand, the passivity of the presented network model is studied by utilising Lyapunov stability theory and some inequality techniques, and a synchronisation criterion based on the obtained output-strict passivity condition of MWCNNs with eventtriggered communication is derived. On the other hand, some robust passivity and robust synchronisation criteria based on output-strict passivity of the proposed network with uncertain parameters are presented. At last, two numerical examples are provided to testify the effectiveness of the output-strict passivity and robust synchronisation results
