    Get PDF
Las conclusiones muestran un mayor uso de metodologías cuantitativas para medir la calidad en Educación Física, así como una priorización de la opinión/desempeño docente como factor determinante de la calidad.[Abstract] Quality Physical Education (QPE) is a hot topic today, however, it is still difficult to establish a unison definition of what it is and what needs to be done to achieve it in our classes. In this sense, there are several authors who have investigated on how to measure quality in Physical Education. The objective of this article is to carry out a bibliographic review of the scientific literature published in the period between 2017-2021 in the Web of Science and Scopus databases. The flow chart of the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyzes methodology was used to analyze a total number of 14 articles. The conclusions show a greater use of quantitative methodologies to measure quality in Physical Education, as well as a prioritization of teacher opinion / performance as a determining factor of quality

A Framework for Discovery and Diagnosis of Behavioral Transitions in Event-streams

Date stream mining techniques can be used in tracking user behaviors as they attempt to achieve their goals. Quality metrics over stream-mined models identify potential changes in user goal attainment. When the quality of some data mined models varies significantly from nearby models—as defined by quality metrics—then the user’s behavior is automatically flagged as a potentially significant behavioral change. Decision tree, sequence pattern and Hidden Markov modeling being used in this study. These three types of modeling can expose different aspect of user’s behavior. In case of decision tree modeling, the specific changes in user behavior can automatically characterized by differencing the data-mined decision-tree models. The sequence pattern modeling can shed light on how the user changes his sequence of actions and Hidden Markov modeling can identifies the learning transition points. This research describes how model-quality monitoring and these three types of modeling as a generic framework can aid recognition and diagnoses of behavioral changes in a case study of cognitive rehabilitation via emailing. The date stream mining techniques mentioned are used to monitor patient goals as part of a clinical plan to aid cognitive rehabilitation. In this context, real time data mining aids clinicians in tracking user behaviors as they attempt to achieve their goals. This generic framework can be widely applicable to other real-time data-intensive analysis problems. In order to illustrate this fact, the similar Hidden Markov modeling is being used for analyzing the transactional behavior of a telecommunication company for fraud detection. Fraud similarly can be considered as a potentially significant transaction behavioral change

Computing Competencies for Undergraduate Data Science Curricula: ACM Data Science Task Force

    Get PDF
At the August 2017 ACM Education Council meeting, a task force was formed to explore a process to add to the broad, interdisciplinary conversation on data science, with an articulation of the role of computing discipline-specific contributions to this emerging field. Specifically, the task force would seek to define what the computing/computational contributions are to this new field, and provide guidance on computing-specific competencies in data science for departments offering such programs of study at the undergraduate level. There are many stakeholders in the discussion of data science – these include colleges and universities that (hope to) offer data science programs, employers who hope to hire a workforce with knowledge and experience in data science, as well as individuals and professional societies representing the fields of computing, statistics, machine learning, computational biology, computational social sciences, digital humanities, and others. There is a shared desire to form a broad interdisciplinary definition of data science and to develop curriculum guidance for degree programs in data science. This volume builds upon the important work of other groups who have published guidelines for data science education. There is a need to acknowledge the definition and description of the individual contributions to this interdisciplinary field. For instance, those interested in the business context for these concepts generally use the term “analytics”; in some cases, the abbreviation DSA appears, meaning Data Science and Analytics. This volume is the third draft articulation of computing-focused competencies for data science. It recognizes the inherent interdisciplinarity of data science and situates computing-specific competencies within the broader interdisciplinary space

Biopsychosocial Assessment and Ergonomics Intervention for Sustainable Living: A Case Study on Flats

    Get PDF
This study proposes an ergonomics-based approach for those who are living in small housings (known as flats) in Indonesia. With regard to human capability and limitation, this research shows how the basic needs of human beings are captured and analyzed, followed by proposed designs of facilities and standard living in small housings. Ninety samples were involved during the study through in- depth interview and face-to-face questionnaire. The results show that there were some proposed of modification of critical facilities (such as multifunction ironing work station, bed furniture, and clothesline) and validated through usability testing. Overall, it is hoped that the proposed designs will support biopsychosocial needs and sustainability

Plantar pressure image fusion for comfort fusion in diabetes mellitus using an improved fuzzy hidden Markov model

    Get PDF
Diabetes mellitus is a clinical syndrome caused by the interaction of genetic and environmental factors. The change of plantar pressure in diabetic patients is one of the important reasons for the occurrence of diabetic foot. The abnormal increase of plantar pressure is a predictor of the common occurrence of foot ulcers. The feature extraction of plantar pressure distribution will be beneficial to the design and manufacture of diabetic shoes that will be beneficial for early protection of Diabetes mellitus patients. In this research, texture-based features of the Angular Second Moment (ASM), Moment of Inertia (MI), Inverse Difference Monument (IDM), and Entropy (E) have been selected and fused by using the an up-down algorithm. The fused features are normalized to predict comfort plantar pressure imaging dataset using an improved Fuzzy Hidden Markov Model (FHMM). In FHMM, type-I fuzzy set is proposed and Fuzzy Baum-Welch algorithm is also applied to estimate the next features. The results are discussed, and by comparing with other back-forward algorithms and different fusion operations in FHMM. Improved HMMs with up-down fusion using type-I fuzzy definition performs high effectiveness in prediction comfort plantar pressure distribution in an image dataset with an accuracy of 82.2% and the research will be applied to the shoe-last personalized customization in the industry

Predicting Academic Performance: A Systematic Literature Review

The ability to predict student performance in a course or program creates opportunities to improve educational outcomes. With effective performance prediction approaches, instructors can allocate resources and instruction more accurately. Research in this area seeks to identify features that can be used to make predictions, to identify algorithms that can improve predictions, and to quantify aspects of student performance. Moreover, research in predicting student performance seeks to determine interrelated features and to identify the underlying reasons why certain features work better than others. This working group report presents a systematic literature review of work in the area of predicting student performance. Our analysis shows a clearly increasing amount of research in this area, as well as an increasing variety of techniques used. At the same time, the review uncovered a number of issues with research quality that drives a need for the community to provide more detailed reporting of methods and results and to increase efforts to validate and replicate work.Peer reviewe
