Kata Kunci: Front-End Website System, Human-Centered Software Engineering, Usability Engineering, Rational Unified Process, Moodle, Elearning, CSUQ In order to run an elearning system, the user need a tools or platform, one of them is Moodle as Learning Management System (LMS). In corporate environments the obstacle when a company use an elearning system is the less motivated employee due to bad usability of the LMS itself. From ISO 9241-11 usability is the extent to which a product can be used by specified users to achieve specified goals with effectiveness, efficiency and satisfaction in a specified context of use. Therefore, this study aims to improve the Moodle LMS in terms of usability with a case study on the company Comlabs USDI ITB and PT Bank Internasional Indonesia (BII). The expected result from this research is to make user of the elearning become more focus to learn the content without disturbed by not user friendly interface. This research using Human-Centered Software Engineering method which is have two steps in its development. Usability Engineering method with query technique was used when measure usability level. Query technique consist of questions based on Computer Study Usability Questionnaire (CSUQ) that has been standard for evaluating usability. Rational Unified Process (RUP) has been chosen as software engineering method for developing system which can improve usability Moodle LMS. In this research the result showed that the system which has been developed and called Front-End Website System (FEW) can improve Moodle LMS usability and reached 20% increments. Keywords: Front-End Website System, Human-Centered Software Engineering, Usability Engineering, Rational Unified Process, Moodle, Elearning, CSU

E-learning is a technology that plays an important role in modern education and training. Its great importance lies in the fact that it makes learning content readily available at any place at any time. This paper examines and evaluates two of current systems Moodle and ATutor. The main aim of this paper is to identify the aspects of theese LMS systems, examine their functional features, modules, standards, hardware and software requirements, and compare them

Multimedia and e-Learning integration for supporting training programs in agriculture by MOODLE

The NODES project aims at facilitating, for adult training / lifelong training, the use of multimedia knowledge to improve competitiveness employability and mobility of handicapped adults (physical and sensorial) and of adults victims of the digital divide or of some of its components such as distance, initial level of knowledge, language, use of complex technologies. The NODES project is focused, on the wide sense, on the production and diffusion of knowledge created within public and private organizations dedicated to adult training or by individuals, through Europe. Within the project the MOODLE e-Learning system was selected and more multimedia content will be integrated into the knowledge base. The EU-Index metadatabase collects content sources for the project partners. Another target is to integrate video files into the systems. This parts are integrated by the logical and physical architectures of the NODES

Providing behaviour awareness in collaborative project courses

Several studies show that awareness mechanisms can contribute to enhance the collaboration process among students and the learning experiences during collaborative project courses. However, it is not clear what awareness information should be provided to whom, when it should be provided, and how to obtain and represent such information in an accurate and understandable way. Regardless the research efforts done in this area, the problem remains open. By recognizing the diversity of work scenarios (contexts) where the collaboration may occur, this research proposes a behaviour awareness mechanism to support collaborative work in undergraduate project courses. Based on the authors previous experiences and the literature in the area, the proposed mechanism considers personal and social awareness components, which represent metrics in a visual way, helping students realize their performance, and lecturers intervene when needed. The trustworthiness of the mechanisms for determining the metrics was verified using empirical data, and the usability and usefulness of these metrics were evaluated with undergraduate students. Experimental results show that this awareness mechanism is useful, understandable and representative of the observed scenarios.Peer ReviewedPostprint (published version

A Moodle-based LMS has been used by the Faculty of Engineering Universitas Singaperbangsa Karawang to support blended learning. Therefore, it needs to be evaluated in terms of user satisfaction and usability. The USE Questionnaire was used in this study to evaluate Moodle-based LMS usability. The usability was evaluated by analyzing the data from the USE Questionnaire, which was personally filled out by 167 respondents, both students and lecturers. The result showed that USE Questionnaire used in this study possessed excellent validity and reliability with coefficient values above 0.700 and 0.981 respectively. In addition, the percentage of each usability parameter for Moodle-based LMS application was as follows: 70,1% of usefulness, 68,9% ease of use, 73,7% ease of learning, and 67,9% of satisfaction. It can be concluded that this application is worthy to use

As far as Learning Management System is concerned, it offers an integrated platform for educational materials, distribution and management of learning as well as accessibility by a range of users in cluding teachers, learners and content makerses pecially for distance learning. Usability evaluation is considered as one approach to assess the efficiency of e-Learning systems. It is used to evaluate how well technology and tools are working for users. There are some factors contributing as major reasons why the LMS is not used effectively and regularly. Learning Management Systems, as major part of e-Learning systems, can benefit from usability research to evaluate the LMS ease of use and satisfaction among its handlers. Many academic institutions worldwide prefer using their own customized Learning Management Systems; this is the case with Moodle, an open source LMS platform designed and operated by most of the universities in Sri Lanka
