A Novel Hybrid Security Framework (HSF) with Vshield Based Firewall to Secure Cloud Computing Environment

Cloud Computing is an emerging technology that provides an enormous amount of computing resources which includes networks, servers and storages which are accessed through the internet. In addition it allows useful provisioning of the resources based on the user’s demands. A crucial aspect of cloud computing infrastructure is to provide secure and reliable services.  The main challenge lies in the security issues is to reduce the impact of third party attacks in the cloud computing environment. Hence a novel Hybrid Security Framework(HSF) based on Reinforcement Learning (RL) Methodology with Vshield Firewall is proposed for securing the cloud environment.  The RL method is used for deep packet inspection and VShiled based firewall is established to deny the attacks which are malicious when authenticating the signature of incoming packets. The bipartite pattern matching approach is integrated with the RL method to verify the signatures for obtaining the decisions quickly.  The simulation results shows that the hybrid security framework is effective when compared with the existing methods by considering response time, resource utilization and denial of malicious attacks.  This indicates that our proposed framework achieves not only better security but also attains better efficiency in cloud computing environment

Algorithms for advance bandwidth reservation in media production networks

Media production generally requires many geographically distributed actors (e.g., production houses, broadcasters, advertisers) to exchange huge amounts of raw video and audio data. Traditional distribution techniques, such as dedicated point-to-point optical links, are highly inefficient in terms of installation time and cost. To improve efficiency, shared media production networks that connect all involved actors over a large geographical area, are currently being deployed. The traffic in such networks is often predictable, as the timing and bandwidth requirements of data transfers are generally known hours or even days in advance. As such, the use of advance bandwidth reservation (AR) can greatly increase resource utilization and cost efficiency. In this paper, we propose an Integer Linear Programming formulation of the bandwidth scheduling problem, which takes into account the specific characteristics of media production networks, is presented. Two novel optimization algorithms based on this model are thoroughly evaluated and compared by means of in-depth simulation results

Managing IT Operations in a Cloud-driven Enterprise: Case Studies

Enterprise IT needs a new approach to manage processes, applications and infrastructure which are distributed across a mix of environments. In an Enterprise traditionally a request to deliver an application to business could take weeks or months due to decision-making functions, multiple approval bodies and processes that exist within IT departments. These delays in delivering a requested service can lead to dissatisfaction, with the result that the line-of-business group may seek alternative sources of IT capabilities. Also the complex IT infrastructure of these enterprises cannot keep up with the demand of new applications and services from an increasingly dispersed and mobile workforce which results in slower rollout of critical applications and services, limited resources, poor operation visibility and control. In such scenarios, it’s better to adopt cloud services to substitute for new application deployment otherwise most Enterprise IT organizations face the risk of losing 'market share' to the Public Cloud. Using Cloud Model the organizations should increase ROI, lower TCO and operate with seamless IT operations. It also helps to beat shadow IT and the practice of resource over-or under provisioning. In this research paper we have given two case studies where we migrated two Enterprise IT application to public clouds for the purpose of lower TCO and higher ROI. By migrating, the IT organizations improved IT agility, enterprise-class software for performance, security and control. In this paper, we also focus on the advantages and challenges while adopting cloud services

    BIG DATA AND CLOUD COMPUTING

Big Data may be a data analysis methodology enabled by recent advances in technologies and architecture. However, big data leads to enormous commitment of hardware and processing resources, which prevents the adoption costs of massive data technology for small and medium-sized businesses.Cloud computing offers the promise of massive data implementation to small and medium sized businesses.Big processing is performed through a programming paradigm referred to as MapReduce. Typically, implementation of the MapReduce paradigm requires networked attached storage and multiprocessing . The computing needs of MapReduce programming are often beyond what small and medium sized business are ready to commit. Cloud computing is on-demand network access to computing resources, provided by an outdoor entity. Common deployment models for cloud computing include platform as a service (PaaS), software as a service (SaaS), infrastructure as a service (IaaS), and hardware as a service (HaaS). The three sorts of cloud computing are the general public cloud, the private cloud, and therefore the hybrid cloud. A public cloud is that the pay- as-you-go services. a personal cloud is internal data center of a business not available to the overall public but supported cloud structure. The hybrid cloud may be a combination of the general public cloud and personal cloud. Three major reasons for little to medium sized businesses to use cloud computing for giant data technology implementation are hardware cost reduction, processing cost reduction, and skill to check the worth of massive data. the main concerns regarding cloud computing are security and loss ofcontrol.&nbsp
